Hey Guest, want to add your say?
"I wonder what that is about."
Trying to assert a little authority as 2IC and failing dismally.

SM- that is what I am thinking. Looks like he may have had a prepared speech in the booklet he was holding early on.
I just noticed Daniel's wink at the CPT before he left.

Perhaps a spoiled brat.I think it may have already been said, but maybe he does something to Branson. They are both captains

There is so much biblical symbolism in this prologue. I hope it continues in the rest of the film. The biblical stuff is what has always put the Alien franchise up and beyond most other sci-fi IMO. All of the scriptural Easter Eggs were my favorite part of Prometheus- which is one of the reasons people talk about that movie so much (even though almost everyone I know seems to hate it).

Not a fan of the biblical stuff but can understand it. At least it seems to be done in this scene that it doesn't have to be seen that way- despite the title.

I actually like Tennessee in this scene. He seems like the kind of person who can be aloof and fun but be all business when things go side ways. The crew seems to respect him and that is a sign of a good leader.

@dk Yes it seems that Tennessee is either a great underneath a rough exterior, or he will go through the arc to becoming a noble person.
He said in an interview that each day during meals the cast kept getting smaller and smaller... And we see him in the trailer interacting with Daniels (I think he gives her a gun or maybe just follows her when she turns down a corridor) and that scene looked really intense and he seemed scared out of his mind. So yeah he does seem like a good character from what I can tell.

don't know why but iv taken an instant dislike to daniels. cant explain it. also Im not great at identifying the actors, whos the guy who wanted to do the speech? seems he looks a little resentful towards daniels so could he be a human bad guy during the film?possibly trying to undermine anything daniels suggests during the film? I think also theyr showing franco being sick to help explain his early demise in the film?

ah gotcha. its nice to see walter will have a distinctly different accent and manner to david. swaying more to walter being ur local friendly android now but looks can be deceiving

I think he is also a CPT under Jake who is ill. Tennesse seems like the second in command. Seems like Tennessee commands more presence and respect among the crew than the "majesty" guy.

dk, yea I got that aswell. I think in normal circumstances the character in question will be a bit like whats his name from alien3, the one with the low IQ, 87 is it? anyway, I think hel just become cpt out of chain of command where as tennesse would have been probably the better choice, though he may be dead at this point. r they all couples in the prologue? I know the folk in stasis r couples but what about this lot?

that's him, too early in the morning for me, brain hasn't warmed up yet haha I think the prologue, obviously, is to give us a little insight into the characters and to show cudrup or whatever his name is, is not captain material and maybe show us before hand that once hes captain, bad decisions will be made that will cost lives?

It's a great piece of character development.I like Prometheus and some of its characters, but this looks to be a little tighter like Alien and Aliens.

yes ridleys gone back to his roots I think with a more 'engineers in space' theme. hes maybe released it because its been cut from the film due to time restraints but views it as a very much needed part of the story and obviously no point in putting it in a deleted scenes extra if he views it that way as the film will have already come out.

It was directed by his son,Luke Scott.I believe he also directed the TED 2020(?) Viral video for Prometheus.Fun fact:He's also in Alien.

yea hes one of the 'crew' when outside the ship to give scale. he nearly suffocated as did the other children

From what I see, when stuff gets real, people follow natural leaders who step up since sometimes assigned leaders don't quite hold up- remember Gorman?
Part of leadership is giving an air of confidence and showing you can sit down and have a good time with the crew, build morale, trust, etc. Tennessee demonstrates that in this short video while the other CPT does not. Even CPT Jake deferred to Tennessee right in Majesty's face. That is a red flag imo.

Dallas was a good captain,he went into the air vents even though he knew he probably wouldn't come out.I Tennessee or someone else will show those great qualities in a leader that he had.

nin- yep. In addition to what we have said- willingness to do what you would expect of your crew.

dk, to be fair Gorman was knocked out but I get what ur saying and totally agree with it. after the events in the hive I very much doubt anyone would have followed his orders from that point on. yea I got that feeling between those 2 aswell. I think Maj will be a hindrance to the crews efforts. to me he has a special, lasting role to play in AC. by that I don't mean film time, I mean whatever happens/ comes from him, will have a huge impact on the story as will his actions or lack of.

I just watched The Last Supper and the trailer back to back.Callie Hernandez(the choking girl)ia couple with actor Jussie Smollens.Shes in the shower in the trailer, but I'm not certain it's him with her.

Lol.I believe I've confirmed it's not the same guy.I checked BigDave's analysis of the trailer and he mentioned a different actor. An unfaithful wife perhaps?

could be, or her partner is dead and this scene is late on in the film? theyv made it safely (they believe) back to the ship but david has managed to sneak a xeno onboard?

Quite possible.I might post a thread on it,see if anyone can officially confirm it.

It was rather dull and boring (in my opinion). And on the issue of having a same-sex couple included in the initial colonization mission: though it's not very logical to limit the new colony's chances of having the highest possible birthrate after the new colony is up and running, whose to say that the same-sex couple are not going to be sperm donors, whose sperm is used to artificially inseminate the females of the expedition at some point in the future or stored for future use with future generations of the colony. But if this is never addressed in the final cut of the movie...it just may be simply a socio-political statement by Ridley to include them. We'll just have to wait and see.

My thought is that great Leaders are not always born that way, sometimes they are made. Leadership isn't all about being popular, being charismatic, being super-friendly, or even being super nice.
Leadership is and has always been about one who is willing to laying down his thoughts, best interests, and even possibly there own life for the good of the mission, team or whatever.
Somebody that is willing to listen, care, properly delegate, build consensus, and in some cases, have to make a hard choice that is not always popular.
It's the person I wanted to have leading me when I was pounding the turf in Afghanistan & Iraq. It's the person I know will have my back when bullets (or Neomorphs) start flying. Its the person I know has the personal convictions to do what's right even when others are doing wrong.
That what a leader means to me...
