One thing that was made very clear by Captain Janek was his priority on preserving what they found with the Engineers.
It was: Time to leave, we have no place here.
Captain Janek and Dr. Elizabeth Shaw started to finish each other’s sentences when talking about who was important back home on Earth.
When Dr. Shaw spoke to the cockpit and told Captain Janek “The ship is carrying death and and headed for Earth.” Captain Janek hesitated for no seconds before developing the plan to disrupt the plan of the Engineers.
This was Dr. Shaw’s attempt to save humanity by stopping the Engineer ship rising from the surface by recruiting Captain Janek to attack it.
In the sense that David 8 is totally sterile in regards to true emotion, Dr. Shaw represents the other end of the spectrum as an interesting mix of intellectual scientist with an unshakable faith (she had a good single father she looked up to).
Like the best of us, Dr. Elizabeth Shaw let these emotions (excitement in finding the “invitation”) taint her judgement and skew her analysis.
Dr. Elizabeth Shaw, after loosing her partner in a blaze after exotic illness (and given an update on her reproductive system), still had enough of her mind to provide this Trilobite for the Engineer attacking her to concentrate on.
See, uber-babe, like in the title. And I haven't got to the tight-fitting suit.
