The one in the first picture is definitely a jedi, still holding on to his green saber...

I wonder why the black goo affected them like that, if it indeed was the black goo "bombs" as others have stated.  Any thoughts on why it basically petrified them instead of infecting them more similarly to what we've seen so far?

Indeed i hope they have a explanation for why the Black Goo did not.

1) Evolve these beings into New Organisms that have Hybrid DNA linked to the Xenomorph/Deacon.

2) Dissolve into microscopic Material that then evolves into other life forms.

Great work on the screenshots Ingeniero and thanks for uploading!

I think this was more likely the result of some advanced directed energy weapon, not the black goo!

OR say the Juggernaut piloted by David did crash land and the urns leaked, perhaps something was unleashed to counter the results of the BG before it took full effect?

I am with You all the way! I think abomination is the right noun for the nameless emotional peanut.

@BigDave

I am with you, i posted on another thread previously my concerns about the footage that was shown/reported the day before April Fools Day.

The outcome of petrifying them doesn't seem to be in line with the mutation and total biological breakdown that we have seen from the Black Goo before. Also if he did drop the black goo, it doesnt explain what happened to these other humanoids that werent in this large courtyard. Plus the appearance of the upclose petrified humanoids in the tv spots do not appear to be creature like as reported in the "near Aprils Fools Day report". If they were indeed all mutated into creatures as this report stated, it makes no sense why they would all mainly stay within a courtyard area and then petrify in one spot...just sayin'

Plus they do not look like Engineers to me. For example the head in the ampule room actually resembled the head of an engineer while the heads briefly shown in the most recent tv spots from what has been reported to be the "hall of heads" looks more like humans to me than what was in the ampule room.

I just hope there is a creative and cool reason these bodies ended up this way, having David just drop some goo on a crowd seems a bit contrived and a macguffin, plus if, as the reports state, if he is skilled enough to stand on a platform below the ship and make it drop the goo then why wasnt he skilled enough to keep it from crashing? im overly analytical but this bears questioning.... although i do like the idea of David being all evil and that he would do such a thing.

My view is the ship is shot down because its a warship, is unexpected and contains humans when scanned. Ship crashes and launches outbreak of mutated life forms, which when detected, cannot be stopped, herding survivors into the big worship area. Shaw may be in cryosleep or dies during crash.

if the planet is doomed, wouldnt you evacuate and nuke from orbit? Maybe the engineers who manage to escape return for revenge in a sequel?

if the comiccon footage is real, where is it? Surely someone would have seen it by now.

I have read and watched numerous sources speaking of the comicon footage.

Spoilers article below:

"These scenes began with a curved Engineer ship arriving on what must be the Engineer home planet, as scores of curious bald grey people are witness to the ship’s arrival in a coliseum-like structure.

Little do they know that David is the pilot, and he’s got an evil agenda. He releases a massive payload of the infectious black oil seen in Prometheus, and that stuff lays waste to the Engineers as they try to flee the site.

The event devolves into total horror as dead Engineers pile up at a closed gate that prevents them leaving the landing site. Soon the black oil has decimated them all.

Now we know where at least part of the inspiration for the recent Alien: Covenant poster came from. Question is: what happens to those bodies?"

Grinning & Dropping Linen, I read other descriptions in the media of those on Paradise and they were described as not human nor Engineer but something in-between.

I can only assume that the scorched bodies were from a black goo weapon opposed to what we've seen with black goo taken from a cup in different quantities with the Engineer in the beginning of Prometheus and what David 8 gave Dr. Holloway.

Sean Fifield ingested it for sure but not like we would see in a weapon disbursement of black goo.

I thought the bodies were gone by the time the Covenant crew arrived so I'm at a bit of a loss on explaining the bodies laying around.

Im still a bit sketchy on the goo that David, according to some reports, drops on the engineers. For one the report from CinemaCon is quoted by Playlist as follows:

“The sneak began with the spacecraft from the last film arriving at the Engineers’ home world. Surprised, startled or curious about this ship’s arrival, hundreds of Engineers have gathered in what looks like a Roman or Greek coliseum for the ship to dock. As the Engineers look on, the base of the ship opens and we find David walking on a deck. He looks ragged, but fully operational in a complete body. Then, as the Engineer population looks on, a mass of black bombs fall from David’s ship. The crowd panics and tries to escape the arena, but the bombs quickly explode and douse them with a black ooze that is sickeningly familiar. The Engineers are quickly transformed into hundreds (or would that be thousands?) of alien creatures as David watches from above satisfied with his…revenge?"

I have a few issues with this, for one the beings that are petrified do not resemble creatures or at least the ones seen in the most recent tv spots nor do the ones seen in the pre-production set photos.

If David can walk on a platform below the ship and drop black goo bombs on the city while not actually at the controls and its just hovering, id say he is very skilled in piloting this vessel, so why did it crash or why is it found crashed??

Why would the go petrify people, it can mutate and break down organic life, having it also petrify seems as lazy screen writing to me....it also seems equally lazy that all the humanoids were in this tidy little courtyard to be petrified and none were anywhere else

If it did mutate all of the beings into creatures then why did the bulk of them remain in this courtyard seen in the trailer and now in the tv spots

Also if it only mutated some into creatures and not the bulk then why did they all remain in this courtyard? Also if it only mutated some and not all into creatures then why does every life form that are clearly not mutated creatures appear to be petrified in dramatic running/crawling/walking poses?

Just using some general logic and it is either lazy screen writing or we have been misled to a degree or  there is something we dont know or have been shown, perhaps the CinemaCon footage was cut together to appear one way but it was actually something else

...at any rate the beings all being transformed by goo into creatures doesnt add up, if you read through my questions above a little ..

it just doesnt add up to me at least, id love to hear other opinions on my questionable items.

@Grinning & Dropping Linen - I am in agreement with you, as I hope we have something better than David just dumping a cauldron of boiling oil on the 'Advanced Race', who just as willingly stand underneath the ship as hell rains down upon them all?  Honestly this may be another wtf moment we could liken to Milburn & the space snake?

I am hoping to see something that is not quite as lazy as that?

"We were lame, we were so lame!"

IMHO - If David can create a Xeno, then what the heck is so special about them?  I want to see David getting in trouble with the Engineer race for stealing their eggs from the pyramid ,or something of that nature?

@cerulean blue

I agree with you, I want David's tampering to awaken or call to some ancient and terrifying race of beings who arrive on scene upset at his transgressions. They in my wildest dreams would be vastly intelligent and terrifying and they would seek to undo David and all of his doings as he battles back against them and humanity and our protagonists from the Covenant would be helpless and caught in the middle
