Yeah i had noticed that resemblence right away after seeing the chair. Although i did miss the pyramid in the background completely. 

Does Weyland know exactly where life was created/modified? I mean its the exact same background.

Oh, Jesus, look at the chair! The back of the chair looks like the Paradise City circus and the hangar! And the scorpion-tail can be seen around it!

So it can mean that the Scorponaut is the defender of the city and the hangar!

As far as the Chair the Back has the Circled Dot which is linked to a number of things.

It is used to represent the Sun, its also used to represent the Start of Creation and also to Represent God, Especially Sun Gods.

The Circled Dot also represents a Singularity and Singleness (Monism). And also its represented as the Soul/Spirit

I think at very least one of these has to be hinted at for the relevance of the Chair, especially in regards to the David and Weyland Prologue Scene.

As for the chair: that is Weyland's chair, he is a god, so he likes sitting on that symbol, but David is sitting in the chair in the image: it means that David has to fulfill Weyland's future plans, beyond doubt...
