What other interests do you have outside AC besides work and typical day to day stuff?

Me? Not much else besides blasting on local, national and world news- hence more time spent here. I also like music of different styles and watching old tv reruns.

Your turn.

In regards to the ALIENverse and my own Original works:
Writing, editing, more writing and editing. :) Jotting down ideas to use in the future, working out backstories for characters, and messing with some short stories. Research technology to use in my stories to lend better 'solidity', pester hubby with tech-questions, try to keep my notepads and books from being absconded with by any of 9 cats who love to 'help'.

Does anyone ever do what the guy in Office Space did?- I did nothing. Absolutely nothing. And it was everything I hoped it could be!

Parkerparrot Do you play acoustic or electric? What kind of gear?

me,I like speed, solo racing (fast cars). but also I'm into comics DC/Marvel and love star wars stuff. I'm fascinated with the Toyota business structure and read a lot a books regarding it. I live near the Appalachians and go hiking, biking, or driving the twisties.  I'm a middle aged Nerd. :-/

Shasta cyclone I never got into comics but I am surprised at the interest of Marvel/DC Comics in all matter among peers and we are middle aged. One even goes all out to ComicCom I believe it is called- all out! I don't get it but he doesn't get my Alien obsession either so I guess it is even. We get stuff done on the job!

Blackwinter-witch So can it be said that your work is the same as your fun? If so, that is an enviable place to be.

@dk

I play mostly my Fender strat (Blackmore edition) and my custommade handbuilt dreadnought accoustic. I'd say about 90 % electric. I have a seventies Marshall 50 watt top with a 2/12 cabinet. (I sold my Marshallwall years ago...) Right now I am waiting for a powerbreak that a friend of mine is custombuilding. When I get that one I can really crank the amp up to eleven, lol!!

@Parkerparrot Glad to see a fellow axe head on here. Nowadays I'm playing mostly my Martin HD28 and my Taylor T5z. Write music on both of those almost all day long, and when I'm not on those I'm on my Roland Digital Piano and my Hammond B3 Clone.

At home: exercising and video games (high priorities), reading comics, writing, painting, watching films (lesser priorities. But still priorities)

When travelling at work: exercising, exploring or chilling depending on the destination, weather, and my energy level (jetlag can be a SOB)

Besides running the Scified network, I'm usually at the gym. I practically live there when I'm not on here, or managing emails or working on improving site code. But this site and the others on this network keep me fairly busy I don't have time for much else haha

I do a lot of reading (big fan of old literature, primarily 18th and 19th century stuff). Definitely keeps the mind occupied when not thinking about Alien haha. I also write, run, hike, and play video games (mostly COD, if I must say).

What's the story, MUTHUR?

I've recently finished reading The Bible and now am re-reading the Qur'an.

As an Agnostic (possibly Agnostinc Theist), I feel it important to fully understand what I don't believe in.

Far too many use the Atheist/Agnostic tag but can not, when discussing that choice, maintain a meaningful conversation about it. I prefer to be informed in my choices and decisions.

At the moment I am fully invested in the invisible pink unicorn that lives on the dark side of the moon, as my lord and savior lol

I read a lot. Just finished Paradise Lost and now nearly finished with Zahn's new Star Wars novel, Thrawn.

I also play a lot of DooM (classic and associated wads), especially if I've had an annoying day.

Then there's my ongoing study of Ridley Scott's SF films. Been writing a little piece on the theme of The Creation of and Extension of Life, which runs pretty heavily throughout all of them. I might share it here if I like it enough.

Sometimes I go for a walk in my neighborhood, but since it's been rather cold and rainy on my days off I haven't had many chances to do so.

I really wish I could play the piano! I had lessons as a child, but that is all pretty much gone, I'm sorry to say. I must say that I envy You a bit when it comes to Your guitars. Those are very nice guitars!!

Yes, I guess you could say my work is the same as my fun. :)
It took a long time to get to this point though, and I vastly prefer being a housewife to working in an office tower, as taking care of our home actually MATTERS and makes a Difference...so I enjoy that as hubby does appreciate my dedication to such. End of the day, I always feel like I've accomplished something.
Hubby's always supported my wanting to be a writer, so he's pretty pleased that my excerpts here have met with such praise, and that I have finally found a publisher for my Original works who will accept manuscripts from new authors. :D

I have to say, the rest of you sound very busy with your hobbies and side-interests, all point to highly active and sharp minds.
I've been noticing certaon commonalities amongst the people here, and we all tend to have very acrive minds with plethoras of hobbies and side-interests.
This is both an observation and is also meant as a Compliment, and a sincere one!
I really do enjoy the company of the people here in this forum, we're all strangely-alike, yet also distinctly-Unique.

IRaptus I had an ENGLE 1X12 combo years ago but had to trade for something else since it had to be cranked to get the tubes saturated enough. Great sounding gain but very unforgiving of mistakes lol! Les Pauls are great- I have an LTD Eclipse Deluxe that is just outstanding.

@dk. Yeah ENGLs are brilliant, i swear by them now. You are right though, the clarity of them is great but unforgiving. I run a NOVA system in front of it with its own overdrive, compression and sustainer just to give me some breathing room playing live lol. My LP is an Epiphone (Black & Gold one). Oh man i love those Eclipses, they are unreal!! Im a lefty so i get limited choices andhavent been able to find an eclipse yet thats not the bog standard, black basic one :(

@Black Goo Bandit. Wow you must have some stories in your line of work? This site makes my day too, its a great getaway from the stresses of work lol

IRaptus Epiphones seem to get a fair amount of hate for some reason. They make good guitars now. I have a black quilt Standard that I modded with all new black hardware and SD JB/59 pups- and it sounds great (a bit darker than the LTD) and feels like a nicely worn pair of shoes! If you ever get an EC model, consider the set thru necks- way easier access to the upper frets.

I tried a Digitech version of a TS08 for the ENGEL but couldn't get a decent tone and was still too loud for a city dweller. Went with the Peavey Vypyr tube 60 with the Sempera 2- way more than I will ever use but have a good clean, rhythm and lead tone- I only record.

I seem to be the only single mom on here. When I'm not working, I spend most of my time raising my 7 yr old daughter. (I.E. helping with homework, teaching manners, supervising chores, hygiene, eating choices, play dates, trips to the park, etc. LOL!) I don't have a lot of free time, but my creative outlet is writing and my hobbies are reading and watching movies. I loved Prometheus and when I got wind of Alien: Covenant I was over the moon! Lately all my (very limited) spare time has been spent obsessing over the latest news about it, and reading (and occasionally posting) on this forum. It's been a fun ride and I can't wait to see the movie! Got a babysitter lined up and everything! :D

While waiting for the release of Alien: Covenant, I'm watching movies, tv shows, reading, listening and discovering music.

I rewatched the Alien movies, and back to Prometheus now, I found the extended scenes (very late, I know...). Saw the Behind the scenes documentary for Alien, very interesting information that I had no idea about before. I also want to read the movie novelizations, but think I'll wait until after AC.

I also like drawing, but I haven't done that lately.

Oh, and I'm 'infecting' my facebook and/or twitter pages with Alien news :D

Since there's a lot of talk about instruments, what kind of music do you listen to/play?

@Blackwinter-witch, congrats on your news!:) Are your works Alien related/inspired? (I feel it's a silly question from my part, haha) Was it long ago when you posted the excerpts? I'd like to have a look if it's ok.

Hello! IRaptus and I have been guitar gear talking via PM. Personally, I like a range of music from John Denver, Kingston Trio, Spinal Tap, All Mighy Wind Bands, Cash, DEVO, Dead Kennedys, to Exodus, Slayer and the defunct Skeletonbreath trio. For playing, it is all about old school metal/thrash. Blues is always great too!

Yeah I have a Rock/Blues background. I play mostly things like Led Zeppelin, Clutch, Gary Moore, Janis Joplin, Alice Cooper, Rolling Stones, Rose Tattoo, AC/DC, Fooies, Beatles etc.  some heavier stuff like Pantera, Iron Maiden, Disturbed (not sound of Silence era - their old stuff!)

I left out Sabbath, Zep, Moore. AC/DC, Beatles, Maiden, Old Cooper, Priest, Accept- I thought those would be assumed/given lol!

TY!! :D
As to your query, it's not a silly question, NP :)
I have ALIEN-driven works, in the realms of fanfiction which are works of love obviously, but I also have my own Original Realms as well, which are steadily being developed and maturing quite well.
One of those does echo ALIEN, but is not set in the ALIENverse.

Here's the link to the Topic/Thread where you can find my Excerpts:

And a Topic of mind where one can find some potentially helpful advice and tricks regarding writing.
