MemberChestbursterMay-02-2017 6:13 AMI saw a couple of novels regarding Prometheus on Amazon.com but seemed none of them related to the film, hence wondering if there is one novel which tied to the film? Thanks

MemberChestbursterMay-02-2017 6:51 AMOnly in Japan, like Raido said, but I wonder why? EVERY other Alien movie has been novelized. And Prometheus did quite well at the box office, AND they already wrote one for Japan...so WHY don't we have other translations, namely English?

MemberChestbursterMay-02-2017 6:59 AMThanks for the info
So the author/writer is a Japanese? That's interesting. If there is indeed one, no matter what language its original from, as Starlogger said, there should be somewhat a translation of it right? especially for a film that are famous worldwide.

MemberDeaconMay-02-2017 8:53 AMMaybe we could get one down the line?

MemberChestbursterMay-02-2017 9:01 AM@BD I hope sooner rather than later. It's a shame they couldn't release one prior to the release of A:C, as it would've been a perfect time to read it and examine it. A GOOD novelization would go a long way in explaining a lot of what was happening in Prometheus.

MemberOvomorphMay-02-2017 11:28 AMIf they ever do release it I will buy it in a heart beat! I'd love a good in-depth novelization. Also, I've been thinking, if we don't get a good examination in the films of what happened between David and Shaw during their time on the Juggernaught, I wish Ridley Scott and whoever else has say in it would allow someone to write some "Prometheus" novels that would tell us their story. Kind of like what Timonty Zahan and a few other writers did for Star Wars. Wouldn't that be satisfying? :)

MemberPraetorianMay-02-2017 1:37 PMIt's a real pity Jonesy.
At the time of PROMETHEUS's release we were all certain there would be a general release novelisation and looked forward to it.
It was very odd not to have one!

MemberFacehuggerMay-02-2017 2:16 PMEveryone else has pretty much covered this, but I will add that there are Prometheus comics published by Dark Horse comics, and they've also been combined into a graphic novel containing all the issues. The story is different but centered around the basic Prometheus plot, and it ties in with some Predator comics as well. It's not what you asked for, but if you're looking for any alternative Prometheus media, you might be interested.

MemberChestbursterMay-02-2017 2:35 PM@Dirtwolf While I don't MIND graphic novels, I much prefer the detail and thought involved in a really good book much more. I hope we can get that sort of treatment over GN's, but I wouldn't complain with either! I've gone through the three (I think it's 3) Graphic novels that link to prometheus, and while they're not BAD, they don't really do much for me.

Yeah I totally get it. They're not for everyone. I was just trying to throw the next best thing out there in case anyone was interested and didn't know about them. I'm not necessarily a comic book nerd, but I do enjoy them a lot. But for me, it's just that I get obsessed with every aspect of franchises that I like. All forms of media, action figures, collectibles, etc... So from the franchises I love (Nintendo, Alien, Adventure time... things like that), I always want to get my hands on every little thing associated with those franchises.
But I agree about the Prometheus comics. They are things that are nice to have as a fan/collector, but I think a book would be better. Books go better with cosmic horror because imagining is usually scarier than the actual image. Also, I'm not a big fan of the Predator tie in, as I don't really care for that franchise too much.
Some graphic novels are great though, and I would love more Alien comics/graphic novels without the Predator tie in. But yeah I would definitely love a book even more. There's no substitute for a great book.
And yeah, I have no clue why they made a book in Japan but not anywhere else. Is there some disproportionate amount of Alien fans in Japan that we don't know about?
