From now on you can have either Alien or Star Wars- what is your choice?

Sorry SW fans- I dropped that series like a hot potato when I got burned with that emo coming of age vibe I got with Episode 1.

As much as I LOVE SW ep 4, 7 and Rogue One...I have to go with my first love and all it's dark majesty; ALIEN.

Star Wars is amazing, but I'd pick Alien all damn day. I'm more interested in the darker stuff as well. Also IMO, Alien is more relatable, as it's from the perspective of near-future Earthlings. I'm more into Star Trek than Star Wars anyway. And there is more space opera fanfare out there than Star Wars, while nothing quite compares to the Alien franchise.

Alien every time. The moment they introduced Jar Jar bloody Binks was the moment I realised Sith is an anagram of shit.

The Alien movies are darker, more realistic and more adult-oriented than the Star Wars movies. Star Wars movies are much more geared towards a younger audience.
Now that Disney bought the rights to Star Wars, I fully expect them to milk the franchise dry and produce very average Star Wars movies.
Love Alien! Obsessed with it! And I can't wait for this new film,
BUT,
Star Wars will always be one of those solid links to my childhood

Jar-Jar Binks...if ever there was a creature that would put even a facehugger 'off', it's Jar-Jar. My loathing of Jar-Jar Binks is beyond the frame of words.

If I am to mention Lucas, as an older person, I enjoy his lower budget- higher concept THX 1138 way more than his SW work.

I love them both, ALIEN for the dark, gritty nightmare of being on a spacecraft light years from earth being hunted by a cunning apex predator which i believe cut the lights on b and c decks in the post kanes-death hunting party scene.
for Blackwinter-witch and Batchpool, the xeno that birthed from Jar Jar Binks, i guarantee the rest of the hive would put it out of its misery straight away hahaha!

The six Lucas episodes will always be dear to my heart, and although I loved Rogue One, I don't much care about the Story of Mary Sue vs Darth Millennial, so I'll have to say ALIEN, at least as long as Ridley has his hands on it. He's brought the franchise back to its Sf/horror roots, and I can't wait to see what he does with COVENANT and beyond.

Alien. Alien. Alien.
Star Wars has no new storylines. Boring.
Ep IV, The Empire Strikes Back and Rogue One are very good. Other than that : poor. It says something that the "spin-off" - Rogue One is the best Star Wars Movie since 1981 - for me anyway.
I want to see real bad activities like David, Carter Burke, Ash.
All really good. I would rather watch AVP than Episodes ! through III.
The new Force Awakens had no new ideas. When you blow up planets --- what else is left. Star Wars is for Kids. Its the Budweiser of beers.
Give me a Scotch, straight up!
Today I have been dedicated to post on as many topics as possible until I pass out from drinking too many beers.

I might have to check out Rogue 1 but I am gun shy from Epi 1 and Jar Jar. AVP crushes Epi 1 free and clear imo.

@dk, rogue one is quite good, i liked it better than Force Awakens its how a star wars film should be.

Star Wars.
Even Episode 2 the worst star wars movie crushes Alien Resurrection, and AVPR.

LOL has to be Star Wars ;)
Why i am not on the Star Wars Forum you may ask lol
I loved Star Wars, Fantastic near flawless movie, Alien is likewise, I pick Empire Strikes back over Aliens but its close.. Alien 3 vs ROTJ... this is where the Alien Franchise went downwards for me...
Not that Alien 3 was bad, just never kept the same standards.
Phantom Menace vs Prometheus anyone? Prometheus wins for me ;)
So their is hope with the Franchise, because for me i felt Force Awakens was.... so so.... i did like Rogue One though ;)
But i cant pick a Franchise to be honest, overall i would say Star Wars... just...
The Predator Franchise is a disappointment though The First Movie simply amazing better than Alien for sure... the rest just could not compare..

Any Star Wars movie with Anakin in it sucked. Whiney kid and Emo Anni lol killed the movie for me.
BD that is sacrilege. First predator better than Alien? You are here by banned to a single paragraph post for the next 30 days no more dissertations for you ! !

Rick shoots across the bow- but I agree. I hate that emo Anakin- WHAAAA! And his little Jar Jar too! I would love to see David go up against Vadar!

airshaft_surprise a Binks chestburster....man, right there, is just the epitome of Strangeness. :D
And yea, the rest would Purge the Defective, I agree :)

Please note that I deliberately don't mention SW ep 1 through 3, though I DO admit to watching them because I truly enjoy how Ewan MacGregor handles Obi Wan as a character.
That aside, I really dislike episodes 1-3, and consider the death of Padme at the end of ep 3 to be the WORST writing and death scene in history.
Ep 7, for me, was about The Last Voyage of Han Solo, a time to say 'Farewell' to a beloved character. I also focus more on the Ordinary NON-jedi folks in SW than the jedi...to me, the normal folks are much more interesting.

@BWW - A Jar Jar Morph? Too clumsy to do a decent head bite? heaven save us! XD
Eine Theorie die nicht auf Etwas solidem basiert ist für gewöhnlich nur Geschwätz.

Yeah, a Binksomorph WOULD be just....well, yeah, you covered it :D

@Rick lol
Yeah its close though ;)
I think while they are similar they are also very different beasts, the settings that its...
I felt Aliens did a good job to Alien, but i felt Predator 2 was for the most part a disappointment.
My Ratings rounded up to half a mark are.
Alien 8.5/10
Predator 8.5/10
Aliens 8/10
Predator 2 6/10
Alien 3 6/10
Predators 5/10
Alien Resurrection 5/10
Prometheus 7/10
Yet Prometheus has me coming back to watch it over and over the same applies to Alien

David needs to dump black goo on all things SW post ROTJ except for Rogue one which is highly recommended possibly.

Maybe that's Something Man Was Not Meant To Know :D
Frankly, my brain just stalls out when I try envisioning the Binksomorph. :)
...so, I thus consign the Binksomorph to the purview of the Noblest of Cephalopods...

Alien, without a doubt. Not even a contest.
Star Wars, as a space opera, is a lot of fun, but I don't go to the movies for sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. If I'm paying upwards of $10 for a box of Junior Mints, I'd better see blood, guts, spit and ass going 4 different directions and plenty of it! ;-)

Alien.I shouldn't have to explain this but I will anyway.I love Star War and yes despite some flaws Rogue is good but Alien wins hands down Heres how they match up:1:Alien______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________2:Star Wars

@dk
Oh I know, I was just mentioning Star Trek to show that it wouldn't be too hard for me to give up the Star Wars franchise because it's not my favorite to begin with :)

I love Star Trek but I hate it when they over use the Klingons or time travel. I heard in the new movie they want to make Kirk meet up with his father. So trite.

Time travel was in TOS so it doesn't bother me too much- but that was then when it was episode specific and seems weaker for excuses to make movies.

I liked Star Wars growing up. Followed them all closely just as I did with the Alien franchise once I got my courage at 11.
I have seen both of the new additions to Star Wars and enjoyed them. That being said, if I woke up tomorrow and Star Wars no longer existed, I'd be largely unaffected. The Alien franchise was actually integral to my development as a person. It heavily affected my interests and my personal world view.
Anytime I hear people getting up in arms about some issue or another I often think to myself "well at least you haven't been facehugged yet."

Heh, GOOD perspective!! :D

Star wars, no contest for me.
I am interested by the Xenomorph creature and some characters from all movies, but i am disapointed and underwhelmed by the engineers development to now.
On the other hands, i am fascinated by several concepts of Star Wars especially the force, i love the Siths(which are way more interesting than the Jedi) and i think that Star Wars Universe is more rich and more entertaining than the Alien Universe.
May the force be with everyone !
