MemberOvomorphMay-08-2017 4:28 PMThe new trailer for Blade Runner 2049 came out.
Is it possible that Alien Covenant and Blade Runner 2049 will be connected in some way in terms of story?
UPDATE:
The Engineer/Space Jockey has been spotted in one of the containers.

AdminPraetorianMay-08-2017 4:44 PMI think Ridley has said the movies (Blade Runner and Alien) are both in the same universe. Not 100% certain though.

MemberXenomorphMay-08-2017 4:51 PMHey Ladies,
There is an easter egg regarding Weylands diary regarding Tyrell as his mentor. It wasn't meant to be anything more than an easter egg. People keep trying to put the 2 together with the Ridley connection. Here is the Archive picture.

MemberPraetorianMay-08-2017 4:56 PMAs of the present time, the two universe are indeed Seperate. BUT R. Scott IS considering linking them Canonically, easter eggs aside.

MemberFacehuggerMay-08-2017 4:58 PMThat means Fox will have to get Warner and Sony on board to do any crossover film.

MemberDeaconMay-08-2017 5:00 PMI think he said they could be... this does not mean they will be shown that they are.... maybe as a alternative they could like how Predators are in Alien Canon only as far as Alternative Universe.
I think Blade Runner 2049 will evolve themes in Blade Runner that would be linked to the philosophical themes Alien Covenant will touch upon and Prometheus.
As far as the Reasons for the Creation of Engineers, Humans, Androids and Replicants.

MemberOvomorphMay-08-2017 8:31 PMThe trailer released today is very good looking. I really like that they are using some of the Vangelis score. It looks great. Not sure about Harrison Ford in it... it just doesn;t look right. Jared Leto however......very creepy.
Today I have been dedicated to post on as many topics as possible until I pass out from drinking too many beers.

MemberOvomorphMay-09-2017 11:33 AMPretty sure in Paul Sammons 1996 book "Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner" Scott states they are the same universe but separated by time. I loaned out my copy and never got it back and wish I really had it right now. I also remember Scott musing on the Derelict ship, the Space Jockey and 'why' the ship was carrying the eggs. Most it we already know, but neat to see he had been thinking about turning the Alien story back on for some time.

MemberOvomorphMay-10-2017 5:35 PMIt looks like Blade Runner 2049 and Prometheus/Alien Covenant are connected:
There is an Engineer/Space Jockey inside one of the containers that Ryan Gosling walks by.

MemberFacehuggerJun-28-2017 1:30 AMI would be OK with Covenant and Prometheus sharing canon with Blade Runner but not the originals. We're going to end up with another AVP situation probably.

MemberOvomorphJun-28-2017 9:07 PMIf you watched Blade Runner in Deckards apartment the lights turn on when he walks near them and off when he walks away.
Just like the lights do in the engineers temple of Davids workshop.
I re-watched BR today I noticed the lights doing the same thing and thought hey!
Yes, I know its a stretch but there you go. LOL

MemberChestbursterJun-28-2017 9:44 PMThat is unlikely to happen, there are Copyright restrictions between. Blade Runner belongs to Warner and Alien Universe to FOX. It could not be done, see an Engineer (character) in a Blade Runner movie, Warner would have to request a special requirement for use rights to FOX, and this would be very complicated matter.

MemberChestbursterJun-29-2017 4:48 AMThe timelines do not work for them to be in the same universe.
I'm sure others have pointed this out, but Blade Runner took place in 2019. Replicant technology was highly advanced. They were flesh and blood, almost indistinguishable from humans. So close it required a mental and physical response test to tell them apart.
Alien took place in 2122, 103 years later. Replicant (Synthetic) technology was not that advanced, not yet organic, and a simple x-ray would easily show the difference. How is that the same universe?

MemberOvomorphOct-11-2017 10:58 AMmild spoilers for bladerunner 2049
Neander Wallace refers to angels in his pyramid a few times, so is it likely Weylands mentor was Wallace rather than Tyrell? That would make more sense with the timeline
