I love Spot and Spot was well cared for- also gave Data an unusual perspective at times. On the other hand, Jonesy dealt with some heavy shit! What do you think?

Also, they're demanding snacks...

If I had to adopt one, I would go with Spot- lesser chance of PTSD and peeing in strange places.

Good point, but Jonesy seemed to weather all the action pretty well...everyone else is losing their minds and he's just 'Yeah, alien, ok....Too-nah? Yes? No? fine, get eaten.' :D
Spot, Spot was something of a troublemaker, and TOTALLY had Data wrapped arounf her paw :D

Spot did not totally have David wrapped around his finger though. At one point, Spot was being a finicky turd and Data reminded Spot (as if Spot understood) that he had designed and provided the perfect diet- if Spot remained a turd, I believe Data told Spot that hunger was the best sauce!

Jonesy would probably be a pretty tough cat to care for although was fine with how Ripley poured him/her into the sleep pod- TWICE!

Still, as we saw, there were many times when Spot had Data jumping through the hoops, one ep Geordi commented on how well Data's 'training' was coming along. :D

Jonesy strikes me as a solidly tough, self-reliant cat. Probably quite accustomed to hypersleep, and as they said he wandered the ship via the airshafts...and man, seriously??? NO one was worried about him doing that even without the Alien? Yeah, solidly tough, smart cat.
Alien looks down into his case and he's just 'What?' :D

It would be a tough choice, but Spot would probably be more laid back thus being a more enjoyable companion imo. Cats can be jumpy enough as it is I have noticed. I do not hate cats, I just like dogs- but not A3 style dogs (runners).

heh...take a Runner to a dog park....tell it to 'fetch'...comes back with a jogger's leg.
Oops. :D

Well, Spot did come through some serious weirdness aboard the Enterprise...hmmm...tough to say which of the two is best, but Spot DOES have more experience in coping with all manner if strangeness...including being retro-evolved into a Lizard.

Dare I say because (and please don't ban me for this!  Lol) everybody likes Pu$$y? Lol. ;-)

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.  I watched Androids blow and finger each other's flutes.

The chestburster was heading to Jonesy's direction and he didn't care, still enjoying his food.

I would say the cat that was used against The Mummy is also worthy of a mention.

REALLY good posts, guys!! :D

I also have to state, to be fair to dogs, in an Original Universe of mine (space-western and inspired by Firefly) the ship has 2 puppies, a baby Beagle (Trekker) and a baby Basset Hound (Bugler) as well as a ship's cat.

The ship's cat is a Siberian Tiger kitten they got as unexpected/unplanned partial payment-balance for a job, on a take-it-or-leave-it basis, so they accepted rather than leave the infant Tiger to the fates and less than decent people.

I got the idea after watching a show about Black Market trade in endangered animals. Also, people have Tigers in the real world, so I also figured 'why not?'.

Still working out the Tiger's personality and name, but I do know from personal experience they are EVERY bit as silly and such as their smaller cousins.
Oddly better-mannered at feeding times also. :D
