Did Alien Covenant retcon Xenomorph Prime? (Spoilers)

So, most of us now know that David is the supposed creator of the Xenomorphs, although in Prometheus we saw a depiction of them... Anyway, with this in mind, does it mean that Xenomorph Prime has been retconned? Or will the planet in Covenant eventually become the Xeno's homeworld? What do you think?

Considering that now we know that David created the Xenos, will the planet in Covenant become Xenomorph Prime eventually? Or was the concept of an alien "homeworld" completely retconned?

My personal theory is that there is a native race - or should I say races of Xeno on Paradise, that survived outside of the citadel we saw david attack. And David "Engineered" these into the Proto/Xenomorph? The creature workshop eluded to this I think!

Well technically it was never confirmed if their was a Xenomorph Prime in the Main Alien Continuity outside of games and comics.

I think their is a Genetic Origion within the Black Goo that had to originate from some type of lifeform. Judging from the mural in Prometheus as well the mutations of the worms and Decaon while different do share some similiarities with the xenomorph and the creatures in David's Workshop (In a Deleted scene Fiefield was turning into a xenomorph creature).

I think that David is responsible for the Xenomorph they we know off in the Alien Films but they are not the original creatures.

Let's Look at all the creatures scene that lead up to the Protomorph in Alien Covenant and what they have or had in common to the Xeno we know off

The Hammerpede and Trilobite are off shoots but the similiarities to the facehugger include:

Pale skin, Parasitic Incubation, Acidic Blood Long Constricting Tendrils

AS for the Deacon it's similiarities included:

Gestation within Host, Black Skin, Rapid Growth, Elongated Skull and A Secondary Inner Jaw

As for the Neomorph

Gestation within host, Acidic Blood ( hard to see but it is their) Elongated Skull, Long spiked tail, No secondary jaw but a similar expandable jaw.

If u look at all these clues, it is clear that their is still a genetic origin for the xenomorph to have originated as the black goo that mutates the lifeforms it comes into contact with while different have noticeable similarities no matter how much it has been tampered with so far.

So their might be a primary planet where they originate but not in the context we have come to know off.

Compare the original xeno(bio-mech) from Alien and the Proto(sinew-insectlike) from Covenant, the original bio-mech creature has remarkable similar features to the engineers organic suits (inner and outer suits), i don't want a queen that layed all those eggs on the derelict, i wan't something totally bizarre and giger originale' like some one here on the site has suggested that the derelict is a female organism laying them, now that would be freaky and awesome at the same time.

I think as far as Canon goes... Prometheus set up for such a Place to maybe not exist and Alien Covenant seems to expand upon this, but Alien Covenant also kind of shows us that the Fire and Stone Comics are not Canon.

However indeed.... the Black Goo is related to the Xenomorph, just as much as the Engineers DNA is to our own.

The Black thus either came from some Organism related to the Xenomorph... its true Origin..  Which is Likely.

Or the Black Goo is obtained from some other means.

The way i saw Prometheus Matches Spaights Nano-Scarabs and so these Engineers have a Creation Tool, that breaks down their DNA into a Mutagen Substance that passes on their DNA to Organic Life it encounters while evolving the Organisms best Traits and thus Creating a Hybrid.

Thus the Black Goo was obtained by using that Sacrificial Substance on some Organism that the Xeno DNA Originated from, be that a Actual Organism, or the result of a infection by a Ancient Organism (Sacrificed a Infected Engineer).

Thus there is the Potential for a Alien World where this Original Organism came from.... or indeed the Potential for a World to be Changed into a Alien looking Worlds after infection by the Black Goo.

@airshaft_surprise

Indeed the Derelict and Xenomorph were indeed very connected Aesthetically and Gigers idea was indeed they are Genetically Connected.

Promethues left it open for the Xenomorph to be related to their Technology and the Derelict either as playing a part to how the Derelict and Xenomorph became how they did... or that the Engineers Technology was Reverse Engineered from such.

Alien Covenant as to a degree muddied the waters a bit now.

@Starlogger, I agree.

@BigDave, the skin of the original bio-mech xeno has characterics of the interior of the derelict ie. gigers aesthetic.

Therefore the SJ was highly likely biologically connected to the derelict.

I find the idea that david recreated the xenomorph or created his own breed of them from what he learned of the engineers to be a more realistic and universe expanding idea.

i also have a fondness for the black goo as some time of xenomorph type genetic material, its a cool concept and is very mysterious as it turns organisms it touches into xenomorph like creatures.

Also the depiction in Prometheus could of just been an Easter egg.
