SPOILERS
SOILERS
ok here we go, it was revealed at the end of Covenant that David had bested Walter in combat and took his place at the end, to travel off to who knows where with the(2) still alive crew and the 2000 frozen colonists.
I did find it odd that he made a report to the company as Walter right at the close of the film. Im unsure of this or the reasoning, he has total control and could do whatever he wants that deep in space, so why the report to the company??
He didnt do it because of Mu/th/ur because he could just shut her down. I mean the crew shut her down for a bit so i am certain he would be capable as well. So the report seemed curious to me? why even bother ?
Well obviously his intentions are to use the 2000 colonists as test subjects or possibly turn them into eggs. Maybe the eggs we see below the derelict in the original Alien. He will need to run into Engineers again, and i hope that he does, i also hope they introduce or bring into the fold the higher power race of beings that was hinted at in multiple interviews. Make them terrifying, intelligent but LOvecraftian evil and vicious in an ancient evil kind of way.
Without running into the engineers again we have no way of getting back to LV426 and the derelict that Dallas, Kane and Lambert investigated.
One way is to run into Engineers again....BUT, i have an idea that would be a little different. Walter clearly had a protective spot for Daniels, David even hinted that he thought Walter loved her. Walter may very well love her and want to protect her above all else, but he doesn't realize that his duty and his soft spot for her is something called Love, he just does it.
Anyway Walter which was defined in the viral marketing and briefly in the Covenant can regenerate tissue and in essence heal. David did best him in combat and take his place....BUT what if he needed a longer period of time to repair himself, i mean when he got stabbed in the neck it did take a few minutes for him to recover. Whatever David did to best him obviously would be more traumatic than the stab in the neck but maybe he could recover and heal from this ], given enough time. David was unaware of this or the level of healing that Walter has.
I think it would be highly interesting to have Walter heal and either fix the crashed juggernaut or find another one. He could easily use the hologram of Shaw at the controls to interpret how to fly it, thats how David learned to do it. Who is to say that he wasnt created without knowledge of ancient languages.
David possibly didnt fix the juggernaut because he didnt really want to leave, he had a planet full of mutated life to experiment on
I feel having Walter follow in the juggernaut to wherever David and the Covenant ends up to protect or rescue Daniels would be clever. Then the interactions in the movie could be between Tennessee, Daniels, David, Davids creations, Walter, perhaps a few of the colonists they wake up. To make things even more horrific have the powerful race of beings that were hinted at show up to exact revenge or judgement on David or all of them.
Having Walter do all of this in the juggernaut to protect Daniels would be awesome! Then in the movie you could play with themes of duty, sacrifice and love, even if it comes from an AI. David could have done his evil underground where we eventually see the thousands of eggs and somehow in the climax of the movie the Juggernaut crashes on top of this and we then end up at the 1979 Alien. It would then be Walter in the chair, or perhaps Walter and the remaining humans defeat David and David tries to escape and ends up somehow in the chair as it crashes. Perhaps the higher power is capable of things we are not able to comprehend or havent seen yet at least. Lets face it these movies will not end happily before they tie into Alien 1979. It will be bleak and end sadly for our protagonists. Thats why i feel that using Walter to attempt a rescue would be iconic on the screen as well as carry some profound themes that may be used, love, duty, sacrifice, creation. Perhaps his example and effort to rescue Daniels shows David something, perhaps before his demise he understands. I think it would be cool to start off with a monologue from David and then it leads us into the story showing us what transpired from the end of the Covenant right up to the moment the being is trapped in the juggernaut chair, and then as the monologue continues at the end of the movie it is shown that David is telling his story and how he ended up in the chair to meet his demise, as the movie closes. During these final moments he may have some sort of epiphany or redemption moment but i think having Walter on a hell bent rescue mission would be one cool way start this movie and use those themes of what makes us human and them robots. I think it would be cool that Walter the more robotic Android with less emotions and feelings and without the ability to create displays love, protective instincts and sacrifice. Where as David with the far greater emotional range and ability feels not love or anything resembling this for humanity. I think this would be awesome if explored in the next moivie while they are in the midst of the grand adventure that leads us to the "chair"
