Is Alien: Awakening after Alien: Covenant in timeline?

Good question! Im also a bit confused. So what will the next film is about? Will it be a sequel or a prequel to Alien Covenant? 

Sequel. But they probably won't actually use that title. I think he let it slip once in an interview but it's not like set in stone or anything.

I feel like Awakening is one of these two..

1. Covenant prequel about David doing crazy experiments to get to the Xeno eggs. Maybe Shaw put up more of a fight than we were lead to believe. (If she is on the actors list next year, we'll know)

2. Covenant sequel.. 2000 colonists wake up on a nightmare ship. Event Horizon meets ALIEN.

I hope will we see both of your options.

But I have the feeling that we will see a sequel to Covenant. For the fans who are interested in the Shaw and the engineer homeworld there probably just will be the prequel novel which comes out later this year...  Sad but I am still looking forward. 

In a new interview he said that '...I may hit Covenant or Cartel in Christmas'. So lets hope its Covenant.
