She does. Towards the end when Ripley is turning on and off the cooling system you hear her voice. Ripley tells her that she has switched the cooling back on in the hopes to prevent the self destruct, but it is too late.

but...does she talk at any other point?  I don't recall.  Where as  muthur in Covenant wouldn't shut up.  Lol.  I was waiting for her to do a HAL....which would have been cool although done before.

No, I don't think she does. In Alien it seems as if its no real two way interaction going on, but that is maybe a preference setting by the crew since they cant stand her babbling all the time.

or maybe she only speaks when spoken to and function as a pa system
