MemberFacehuggerJun-25-2017 3:36 AM...when its crests are open, is indicative of the Egyptian Winged Scarab?
When you consider this, and the Weyland logo being the Winged Sun Disk/ Horus, might this suggest Weyland secretly worshipped the bird-creature piercing the Engineer's side from the Promethean mural?

Interesting observations. I had not considered that but can see the similarities. You could be on to something.

MemberPraetorianJun-25-2017 3:29 PMNice observation Nathan Adler
there is hopefully more to the hammerpedes than their brief cameo in Prometheus!!!

MemberPraetorianJun-25-2017 3:51 PMGood point.
With where things are going with ALIEN: Manticore, heh folks will be having nightmares about Hammerpedes. Took me a while to build up a zoological profile based off how little info there really is, but pulled it off.
Fifield and Milburn got off EASY. :D

MemberPraetorianJun-25-2017 4:51 PMRight now, I'm working on five of the crew entering the building the Prometheus crew visited, and since the Prometheus expedition, things have changed quite a bit.
With ALIEN: Manticore now past the 85 thousand word mark, I still have a lot of room left to play with, and I'm not gonna cheat the audience on details or such.
I'll let FOX handle that end of things. :D
Anyone who thinks Hammerpedes are 'relatively harmless' is in for a surprise. ;)

MemberFacehuggerJun-25-2017 9:24 PMWhile the Facehuggers look like they're sporting vaginas, the Hammerpedes look like an anus with wings.

Nathan Adler
MemberFacehuggerJun-25-2017 10:33 PM@auximenes: Sphincterpedes;) Or given there's some ancient Egyptian influence there, Sphinxorpedes;)

MemberTrilobiteJun-25-2017 10:51 PMI think the OP is valid. I would honestly like to see BigDave weigh in on this one.

auximenes lol damn those mental images hahaha

MemberFacehuggerJun-26-2017 2:19 AM@IRaptus: If auximenes is right, what the hell did it inject in Fifield that animated him into a zombie;)

MemberPraetorianJun-26-2017 2:32 AMNathan Adler im not sure i want to know lol
Blackwinter-witch you have a tough job now, whenever hammerpedes are mentioned/seen/discussed all Im seeing is an anus with wings from now lol.

MemberFacehuggerJun-26-2017 3:29 AM@IRaptus: By making it an Easter tale, BWW might be able to make it more palatable if its ovipositor dispenses chocolate eggs;)

MemberPraetorianJun-26-2017 6:39 AMYou guys ever see some of the developmental concept art for them?
heh...imagine an anus, with wings, and inch-long curved rattlesnake-like fangs, as well as a large number of smaller/shorter needle teeth so when it chomps onto you, it stays on.
The actual prop had the retractable/deployable jaws with teeth, sadly never used in the film though, but that's why when it chomps onto Milburn, he immediately knows he's in trouble, as it's feel like needle-lined vicegrip pliers grabbing onto the glove material and probably crushing a fold of skin in the deal as well.
Then, lets consider it's constriction power...I looked up what it takes to break human arm bones that badly, compound fracture that can tear through a reasonably tough multilayered suit. Some extrapolation was needed, but I did get the strength and tolerance values of arm bones.
OMG, the level of force involved is stunning!!
He'd have been better off with his arm in an industrial washing machine's drive system. Or a Grizzly trying to tear it off.
The Hammerpede might look like an anus with wings, but the laughing stops when it gets wrapped around part of your body...say, your waist...
Instant Victorian Hourglass figure.
CRUNCH
Or your thigh, the pain from a broken femur has been known to kill all by itself. ;)
All that said, I have to agree with comments about it's appearance, I mean seriously, you guys called it accurately! It's plain to see for anyone to do so.

Ok, so now it's an anus with wings and retractable vampire fangs. Im not sure if that's terrifying or comical...or both

MemberChestbursterJun-26-2017 3:38 PMOh my. This is get'n naughtier by the day. lol First butt cheeks, then b**bs with spikes and now it's an anus with wings. Plus needle teeth and inner jaws for lasting (french) kisses. Sounds like a knitting-guide for the perfect (bad)dream girl from the Engineer's kitchen. XDD
Giger would've been proud, folks! hehe
