Am I the only one who likes the 2 prequels, Alien 3 and thinks Aliens is overrated?

And believe that Neil Blomkamp's idea is really not a good one. NO MORE RIPLEY!!! Please don't forget that there is a queen and alien floating around in space. James, the Roger Corman reject, has developed the idea that these creatures can survive without oxygen. You know, the unoriginal idea of blowing it out of an airlock to end the movie.
Lawrence of Arabia I agree. I think the rumour that fox were going to re-evaluate the future of the franchise has frustrated a lot of us fans.
Prometheus has grown on me in time, and is now probably third behind Alien3 and Alien as a favourite. In time I think Covenant will do the same. I still think that after Awakening we will look back on Covenant and appreciate/understand it all the better.
I do hope that FOX just take a step back and trust Ridley Scott's vision though.
IRaptus I concur. I've enjoyed the journey thus far and it would be a shame if his story was rushed or compromised. I really hope Fox let's the artist do his thing and that THR was just shaking the cage.

Hey im with you i thought i was the only one who love alien covenant and prometheus, they both with alien are my favorites, yes i kinda like alien 3 and alien resurection a little , and really like aliens but i think is overrated to.
this is pretty much the order of the alien films for me. best to worst.
1: alien 1979. it is a perfect movie. it is the best movie ever made in my opinion and it could not be better.
2: alien 3: although I liked it slightly less than alien, I really can't understand why any real fan of the alien franchise would dislike it. killing of newt and hicks that the alien universe is unpredictible and fair. also the religious context is amazing. ( assembally cut even better)
3: covenant. there were definatly some flaws but the neomorphs were awesome, david and walter were great, and so was the acting. My only huge issue was that it was way to short and should have built more suspense.
4: prometheous. its an amazing looking film that took alot of risks not showing the aliens at all, probably expanded the universe even more than aliens but the chareters were really stupid and I did want too see just a bit more with the engineers and the deacon.
5: aliens. I do not consider this a bad film, it just dosn't fit the tone of the series. it reduses the aliens to shoot um ups and fammilierizes their species.
6: alien ressurection. As far as i am consered it dosent exist and is a high bujet fan movie.

If we're just listing the movies in order of preference.
Aliens>Alien>Alien 3>Alien Covenant>Prometheus>Alien Resurrection
If we throw in the AVP movies the first one is between A3 and Prometheus, AVPR is dead last.
also, the dog alien expanded the universe so much in terms of comics and toy lines

Sadly, Alien 3 is a bit of a mess, due to its production woes, salvaged to a degree by the special edition. And the stop-motion animation is pretty unforgivable - it ruins an otherwise enjoyable movie.
Completely redeemed by the assembly cut, in my opinion. It was a far better "Alien" film that Aliens was.
Also, there is no stop motion animation in Alien 3. It was all rod puppet work against blue screen. With the exception of two really badly composited shots, the rod puppet work was actually quite good for the time period.
Alien 3 is my favorite of all Alien movies (there, I said it). It is something about the feeling about it that I like. One thing that is interesting is that they are there for disgusting crimes and still you feel some sort of sympathy for them when they are getting killed.
Alien Covenant is alright but Prometheus is a disappointment.
