Influences of Halo in "Alien Covenant"
In 2014, Scott Free Productions produced film based on the game "Halo". In that film, "Halo: Nightfall", the coalition of aliens threatening human kind in outer space colonies is called the Covenant.
Also, at one point one of the characters says: "the Sedrans still believe in Valhalla." Valhalla is also the name of a multiplayer map in Halo 3.
The color palette of the film itself is also very similar to that of Alien Covenant, alternating between blue/yellow hues and orange hues. There are also quite a few pseudo-religious allusions, an infection due to an alien pathogen used as bioweapon, and a rocky planet with some vegetation and running water where nasty creatures lurk.
Finally, the first scene of the movie looks strikingly similar to the concept art for Daniels in her apartment.
