This is something that sort of confused me while watching this. it could just be for the sake of the twist at the end but that would just be sub par storytelling.

He dosn't nead them as hosts sinse there is 2000 people onboard and he has every reason to kill them because they are the only ones who would be able to figure out that he is david.

during any time when daniels is hunting it down he could just shut the doar trapping her. he also cares about htis cteature very much. (seen during its birth)

one theory that i have is that he was testing it to see if it was effective enough of a killer. if it was able to kill them then he would create more of the same type but if it died he would have to alter it to make it more dangerous.

this leads me to my last question. why dose david want to create killing machines? he has no use for them sinse he already killed all the engineers (or so he thinks). is he planning on releasing these things on earth to get revenge on his creators? let me know what you think in the comments.

David obviously believes he is a god now because like his "father", he believes that harnessing the power to create, destroy, and create again are the defining attributes of a god, but more importantly, having everlasting dominion over lesser beings (in other words, humans). Considering how xenomorphs are instinctively programmed to be efficient killing machines with a knack for survival, David knows they're virtually unstoppable and poised to "rule the universe", so he wanted to see one of these xenos in action before beginning his grand plan of perfecting the rest.

Yeah, it was a field trial of his experiment.

Xenos are no match for a nuke !! which is what David is getting up his arrogant arse

Anyways..... Yes i think he was just testing his Xeno in action. Perhaps wanting to tweak certain areas after reviewing the fight. Also building trust incase of any variables. So Tee and Daniels' trust is reinforced by Walters help.

David has an intricate plan which started possibly when he came online. He set the energy burst, lured the Covenant and gained access to the ship. Why risk the bigger picture for 1 morph? he has over 2000 Xenos in reserve.

Take This.... This is the blood of our lord
