Adolescent xenomorph deleted scene?
Dark Nebula
StaffNeomorphSep-22-2018 6:52 AMUsually in Alien movies and comics, when the xenomorph is born we immediately cut to its adult form, we don't get to see it grow. In Alien: Covenant, with the new creature Neomorph we got to see four stages; The baby (bloodburster), toddler, adolescent, and the adult. Judging by the film, the adult Neomorph is somewhere around 7 feet tall.
With the xenomorph, however, we only got to see the baby (chestburster) and the adult.
In the green band trailer for the film, there is one shot of what appears to be a somewhat smaller xenomorph, jumping from each side of the corridor. And this got me into thinking, was there a deleted scene that featured adolescent xenomorph? If I recall correctly, Ridley mentioned the film was originally 2 hours and 30 minutes long, before being reduced to 2 hours and 3 minutes.

And this is how big the adult xenomorph actually is:
In Adam Savage's set visit, according to Marea Fowler, the head of fabrication, the adult xenomorph is 9 feet tall.
Is it a deleted scene, or a shot just for marketing purpose?

AdminEngineerSep-22-2018 7:37 AMFrom what I recall, this sequence was created strictly for the film's marketing. This is also why the CGI seemed unpolished - at one interval the Alien's tail is actually disconnected haha. I don't believe this was part of an actual scene, but I could be mistaken. I will need to read through reports from back when Covenant was in production.

MemberXenomorphSep-22-2018 10:10 AMThe adolescent xenomorph is the same size as the adult because it grows incredibly fast in a blink of an eye.
Rumour has it that, since the future of the alien franchise is in limbo, the adult xenomorph spends its days playing Alien Isolation:
"He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!"

MemberDeaconSep-24-2018 6:33 AMIts a shame the Scene never made it, if it was part of the Original Movie then it would have to be a Scene just before Daniels and Tennessee started to have all the Corridors Cut off and then Armed up with their Weapons.
It showcased how Fast the Xenomorph was, and is intended to be, and its shame we did not see a longer Xenomorph Scenes on the Covenant (with also improved CGI) as you really cant showcase how Fast the Xenomorph is via a Man in a Suit.

StaffNeomorphSep-24-2018 5:59 PMHow I hate when lots of scenes shown in trailers never make it into the final film and how some are not meant for the film, just for marketing reasons (Deadpool 2 for example).
First teaser trailer for Alien covenant had this shot of Rosenthal screaming. I always wondered what's going on there. I thought she was giving birth to something.
On Alien covenant Blu ray special features, there's an alternate scene in which the Neomorph (not the CGI, the guy in a suit) didn't bite off Rosenthal's head, instead, it grabbed her for the neck, lifted her up before smashing to the ground.
Was it reshoots? Idk

MemberDeaconSep-26-2018 12:51 AMWell it could have been the Scene we got, and instead of cutting to the (poor) Neomorph open Mouth/Bite shot.. we could have likely had Rosenthal wounded/trying to escape into the Hallway before she suffered the Fate in that shot.
So instead of a Re-shoot it could have been a cutting of a alternative scene and then just add in CGI Neomorph attack followed by latter Floating Head in Water, and Noemorph Munching on here Body.
So certainly looks like their had been a alternative shot done, but it could have been a shot that never required Tess for any shooting... such Practical Effects head and body.

MemberPraetorianOct-01-2018 6:50 AMGreat screen shots Dark Nebula.
When Rosenthal was attacked by the neomorph near the shoreline on Planet 4, you can see it grow during the sequence.
The shots above seem to show the xenomorph in the same way, growing.

StaffNeomorphOct-03-2018 11:47 AMExactly Ingeniero, it was explained in the commentary by RS that the baby neomorph was growing really fast while it was hunting Faris in the lander.
