MemberChestbursterNov-02-2018 9:11 PMIt seems that even Gladiator 2 is happening https://www.theguardian.com/film/2018/nov/01/gladiator-2-ridley-scott-peter-craig being directed by Scott himself. I don't understand why this is a good idea, but I sure it will disappoint people who want the a conclusion to the prequels.

MemberDeaconNov-03-2018 9:55 AMSeems RS is very busy at the Moment and Foreseeable Future, in regards to a Conclusion to the Prequels, i see NO HARM in RS taking part in as many Projects as he can to SHOWCASE what he is capable of. The more of his Projects that do well, the more Chance RS has of Persuading Disney that Concluding the Alien Prequels is the right thing to do.
But at the Moment i cant see any AC sequel being in the offering any time soon.

MemberXenomorphNov-04-2018 1:46 AMA sequel for Gladiator? That is a risky business as it will fail any comparison with the original. Maximus is dead, Commodus is dead, Marcus Aurelius is dead. There is nobody who can walk in their sandals. I want more movies from Ridley Scott but not Gladiator 2.

MemberDeaconNov-05-2018 5:14 PMMaybe Ridley Scott's Gladiator 2 is not a Literal Sequel?
Maybe its more of a Future Version and so more of a Sequel to Real Steel ;)
I do agree its hard to see where to pick up from the Aftermath of the First Movie, and Sequels are a Risky Business, but i do think Literal Sequels are better than Reboots however.
The thing is with the Game of Thrones and many such Ancient Middle Ages type movies that are more aimed at the Popcorn Generation would a more accurate Movie set in the time of Ancient Greek/Rome get lost among the Popcorn/Fantasty Types?
I still think there is room for such Ancient Movies such as the likes of Kingdom of Heaven and Troy even though Gladiator was Fictional but indeed its a bit sticky how do they continue after the Death of Maximus.
I think it would be interesting to see where Ridley Scott intends to take a sequel and would not Right Off any movie as i do feel Ridley Scott usually does better with these kinds of movie.

MemberNeomorphNov-10-2018 10:08 AMIf the script is good then it might work so maybe I will watch it. The first movie was good as far as I remember it but I haven’t watched it in years. Maybe I will give this one a try.

MemberOvomorphNov-18-2018 2:23 AMI wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to Gladiator. However, I think it would be fun to combine Gladiator with the Alien franchise. Here's one way I think a story could be made.
The body of the Engineer they tested on Prometheus was 2000 years old, which is about the time Gladiator was set in. One of Maximus's companions wins his freedom from the Gladiator ring. He finds himself fighting in the Roman army in Egypt. Something goes wrong in one of the battles and he is separated from the army. In the middle of nowhere and needing help, he stumbles upon a strange reclusive man with very white skin, which he says is due to a skin disease. The man helps him and leads him to a cave/temple with some strange hieroglyphics. It soon becomes apparent that this man is up to something unusual and maybe even sinister. He has been collecting a wide variety of animals, some which have not been seen on Earth before. He explains his people are harvesting and preserving these animals for further study in an ark, which will be collected by his fellow Engineers before the imminent destruction of Earth. Earth is being destroyed and recreated since mankind has made some species extinct and is unable to sustain life. In order to sustain life, you must continually create and destroy but mankind seems only intent on destroying life. The Engineer, seeing something noble and honorable in the Gladiator, invites him to join the ark. However, the Gladiator remembers his friends and the ones he loves and thinks they do not deserve to die. Drawing on his newfound religion, he thinks everyone is special and has unique gifts and that mankind has the ability to redeem and transform itself. The Engineer ship collecting the ark descends to the Earth camouflaged by an enormous plague of locusts. The Gladiator is able to prevent the ship from leaving Earth after a bitter and epic struggle but dies as a result of the battle. The Engineers in outer space await the return of the ark from its trip around the universe before they set off to destroy and recreate the worlds that have not lived up to their expectation or religious beliefs.

MemberDeaconNov-18-2018 3:05 PMI dont think making those Franchises Cross-Over is a Good Idea as far as to connect to Gladiator...
But i do think a TV Series short about Ancient Mankind and Interactions with the Engineers could be something that could be interesting if done right.
