MemberXenomorphFeb-14-2019 1:40 AMAccording to HNEntertainment rumours surfaced about two live-action Alien series in the works, one of them said to have Ridley Scott as an executive producer and is going to be for Hulu.
This is only rumours for the time being but it's been across the internet for the past hours, so I thought it is good to post it here as well for those who look for the latest news from the Alien universe on this beloved site.

MemberChestbursterFeb-14-2019 2:43 AMdaliens Let's not get our hopes high though (see the mr H review stuff also).

AdminEngineerFeb-14-2019 8:27 AMYeah, I would LOVE if this were true... and could very well be. But I think it's all but a rumor right now. Scott would be a producer regardless anyway so that's nothing new. But specific details are lacking. I'll keep an eye out tho.
Also - BIG site updates on the way. So watch out! ;)

MemberDeaconFeb-14-2019 4:50 PMI think its take this News with a Pinch of Salt... we had rumors like this last year but thing then went quiet once the Take Over got more on the way.
I would not be so quick to take Mr H Reviews reply/assessment either (regarding which Source is Correct, time will tell on that) but he raises some valid points as far as looking at reasons WHY its unlikely. But its certainly likely his explanation regarding the HULU series, and Disney/Ridley Scott making a Series without FOX knowledge is unlikely for the reasons Mr H had revered too.
I will cover reasons why i think its unlikely too.
The disappointment of Alien Covenant and the Criticism over some of the Creative Decisions and Plot Direction, would have made Disney Cautious about any MAJOR investment as far as any Movie, but it would maybe be a case of NOT ruling out any TV Series/Streaming.
I think we need to remember the Rumors last year, were likely a misinterpretation about a Sci-Fi by Ridley Scott which ended up being Raised by Wolves. I think when we look at Raised by Wolves Plot, and the Set-Up for Alien Covenants sequel, it does appear some of the Plot of Raised by Wolves could be carrying over some Plot Elements that RS may have intended for Alien Covenants Sequel that he may have felt with the Limbo of the Franchise is unlikely making RS feel his ideas may NEVER get the Light in regards to a AC sequel... and so its perhaps why he went on to do Raised by Wolves. And its similar Plot.
No doubt FOX would have had a lot of ideas, but the Combination of the Disappointment of Alien Covenant, and the Disney Take Over would have no doubt but these on HOLD.. one of which likely may have been more work regarding Alien 5, as Carlos Huante released some concepts for a Red Harvest Project.
We cant 100% rule anything out, and we have to consider that THEY are offering quite a bit in regards to Amanda Ripley with their PLAY, READ and WATCH... we have the Mobile Game, we have the Comic and so the WATCH Element could be something like a Small Streaming Service. That could be a series of Shorts about Amanda Ripley, but its a case of will they be all CGI Affair like Alien Isolation's Cinematic Scenes, or a Actual Live Action Shorts?
I have said this a number of times, IF they have anything planned i think we only have to wait by April 26th ALIEN Day for any announcements/teasers and if we get nothing by then regarding anything regarding a TV Series/Streaming then it would be unlikely NOTHING of that sort is in the works or planned during the First Half of 2019.

MemberDeaconFeb-14-2019 5:07 PMThere are many avenues to go with a TV Series however..
The ALIEN Franchise is More than Ripley and Xenomorphs. The Problem is having a Series that covers.
*Weyland or/and Yutani Company regarding what else they are up to, and rivalry that does-not revolved around the Time-Line of after the Covenant Mission.
*The Colonial Marines, as in regards to other missions and encounters that are NOT related to the Xenomorph or certainly events that transpire after Special Order 937
*Events on Earth, regarding what has led to Earth being a place that the Covenant Colonist wanted to get away from and start Fresh!
*The Hadleys Hope Colony from Building right until the event of its down-fall.
*The Engineers, either in our Past, or what other Worlds they had encountered... considering its UNLIKELY that Mankind on Earth and the ONLY Humanoid Race they had created and interacted with.
Then its open to explore what happens to information about LV-223, Origae-6 and Planet 4 or any other place where Engineers Technology and Bio-Weapons, which can but is not limited to the Xenomorph.
I feel the First FOUR Options would be more possible and cheaper to produce, but just as the Alien Covenant Origins Book was not about the Xenomorph or events during/after Alien Covenant... its a case of WHAT would Fans consider as a ALIEN TV Series that does-not have.
*Ripley connections and/or Xenomorphs
Maybe one about Colonial Marines or Hadleys Hope may please Fanboys of Aliens, and one about the Company History and Rivalry may please Alien Fanbase? (World Building and Exploration).

MemberPraetorianFeb-14-2019 6:43 PMI'm not certain they'd risk two series, that's where it sounds like a rumor. Start with one and go from there.

Don't worry. I get you a New Hope... Based on my observations. FOX be silence about The Predator for a few months (~6) before AC, and start talking a few months (again ~6) after AC release. Same with The Predator. Silence about Alien before The Predator release and now they speak again about Alien. They really can work on a new Alien project.
And I agree something like AC Origins will be good. It's a really beautiful book.

MemberDeaconFeb-15-2019 3:45 AMCertainly Leto....
The Alien Franchise Prior to Prequels had more to it than Xenomorphs... the Xenomorph Plot being the Discovery of those Eggs on LV-426 which they knew about before sending the Nostromo so we have a Nefarious Agenda in that regard. But it seemed they was only interested in it for their Bio-Weapons Division.
The Space Jockey was a Mystery... but we got the picture and RS helped with comments, that those EGGS were a Bio-Weapon but we never knew for who this was intended for, and about the Space Jockey Race.... these are more interesting than just HOW the Xenomorph was made..
Because it would be like a ALIEN Species comes to Earth and they are only interested in seeing HOW we created the NUKE and then seeing the NUKE being used... and then this Species looking at WHY other Race before them was only interested in the NUKE too...
But there is much more to Human History than just creating that Horrific Weapon.... A Weapon that has lead to Harness its Power for Peaceful/Energy.
So i found the pursuit of the Xenomorph as a Weapon limited, i found there was more to the Space Jockey than just HOW his Cargo was Created..
The Prequels are a bit Hit/Miss with some fans...
But certainly there is more to the Franchise than Company wants Xenomorph, and a Ripley Family Member saves the Day!
Certainly exploring other aspects... History/Agenda and Conflict between Weyland and Yutani, the Synthetics (implied in the Weyland Industries Viral site for Prometheus that the Technology War behind Synthetics between Weyland and Yutani is pretty much similar to a Apple vs Samsung we have now)
Exploring World Building and Space Exploration or even the Colonial Marines... as these guys surely never existed to just go on Xenomorph Bug Hunts.. are all avenues a TV Series even if a 6 Hour one as in, say 8 X 45 Min or 6 X 60 Minutes or even 4 X 1.5 Hours etc.
Could be a Test the Waters...
If it BOMBS.. then a 6 hour TV/Streaming is Low Risk
If it is Criticized for having No Ripley or Xenomorphs, then they could in the 2nd Series give those fans a little something similar. By Virtue of a Relation, or Easter Egg Young Ripley... by Virtue of covering some aspect of what the Company Knows about LV-223 and what happened between Prometheus Mission and ALIEN
If the TV series focused on the War of Technology and Espionage between Weyland and Yutani they could introduce a Earlier Pretext to what becomes the Colonial Marines as in Weyland Military so kind of like how the Star Wars Prequels introduced the Clone Troopers that would become Storm Troopers in Future... and have these Weyland Military in conflict with Yutani and maybe show some more Basic Looking Yutani Military Androids.
So there is Potential.... but the CURSE of the Alien Franchise is often the Prefix... ALIEN and how its expected that Large Portion has to be about Xenomorphs!
Which Limits any kind of Prequel Ideas... be it based on the Companies and Earth and nothing to do with LV-223/426.... for a number a ALIEN Franchise movie has to be about the Xenomorph.

MemberNeomorphFeb-20-2019 8:47 AMI don’t know, try one and see how people respond to that, that is what I would do if I was working at a company like that. This could be a rumor so I take it with a pinch of salt.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-28-2019 10:15 AMA tv series that would connect Prometheus and Alien Covenant would be interesting because the lack of connection was too much. If a tv series could tell a storyline of E. Shaw, then it could satisfy some fans. Maybe they could go into the direction from an earlier version of the script, where E. Shaw hides in the catacombs of the planet while David did all his experiments and studies. Seeing some creature from David's lab alive would be as well interesting.

MemberDeaconFeb-28-2019 3:00 PMI think Financially it would be a RISK.... to cover what happened between Prometheus and Alien Covenant, but surely getting a NOVEL would be Great as its Cheap, and they can go into more Detail than you could on Screen.
"Maybe they could go into the direction from an earlier version of the script, where E. Shaw hides in the catacombs of the planet"
Ive not heard of that, is it from a Script you have read?
I do know that some of the Reporters on Set for Alien Covenant had said they had the feeling that the Place Dr Shaw was held up in (on the Juggernaught) looked as though she was trying to Hide from David.
Could be who knows....
I am more drawn to David giving Dr Shaw a Excuse they was Attacked, he tried to escape and the Cargo Deployed during the attack or he had NO CHOICE in order to Protect her.... So he then informs her the Planet is Contaminated for some time, and she is best to stay in the SHIP.
He would then go to places that are not infected to get her Food/Water... i feel this is what happened... but she got Suspicious and decided to VENTURE out one day and then Discovered what David really was up to and then tried to Escape!
Edit: Certainly has a kind of 10 Cloverfield Lane Vibe to it, so i am not sure how many would sit through a movie that has a large amount of time just around David and Dr Shaw... but surely it would also show scenes of David off to do his Experiments... and it looks like some Engineers Survived but would be in NO condition to Fight!
What Horrors and Torture were those Survivors put through, and did they Plead with David and offer him information? So yeah there is a WHOLE story there.
I am more drawn to this.... thats not to say this was the case, or even if they had any Plot to what happened in the Past prior to the Covenant Arrival.... But certainly is something a NOVEL could cover..
Something i have Pondered on working on, as a Fan Made Fiction as i have a number of ideas.

MemberTrilobiteMar-07-2019 12:11 AMWe can go different ways, but a TV series seems best imo. Animated could be great too. I am not a book fan, but the franchise could go that direction too.
Interestingly, I have not seen much demand for a full on theatrical movie lately. The idea of alternate forms of the franchise seem to prevail..............Bring it on!!!
