A little 'Vignette'...
Blackwinter-witch
MemberPraetorianAug-25-2020 1:13 PMSometime later today, tonight, or tomorrow--depending on how much 'help' I DON'T get from the feline psycho-circus and other demands life makes, I'll be posting a 'Vignette' here, a little snapshot-scene having to do with my take on the A L I E N universe.
Caveat; My A L I E N Realm does link to the Blade Runner as well at some points, just to say.
On that, off to work on it and I will of course be back around later. Have a great day everyone and Ty for reading!

MemberPraetorianAug-25-2020 4:24 PMWith luck, and if they have their siesta early, I should be able to get enough time apart from kittieh-kraziness to get it done tonight. :D

MemberPraetorianAug-25-2020 5:21 PMI'll be posting a bit of it here with a Link to the finished version, as well as a Download link like I did with my updating of the ALIEN: Manticore stories on Issuu.
Then folks can sample the 'appetizer' and if they want to see the full deal, they can read it at their leisure. :)

MemberPraetorianAug-26-2020 12:25 PMAn 'appetizer' for you all. It's my way of saying 'Thank-you' for the supportful encouragement you've been giving me. You have no idea how much that means to me, also being part of this community.
((HUG)) to all of you!!
THIS is however from the RAW-first-pass-ROUGH, so I'm sharing it just to share the 'flavour' and 'feel'.
But, don't freak...haz no spoilerz. :D
****BEGIN QUOTE*******************************
The glass mug was steaming hot, filled with triple-strength green tea, with just enough sugar to precisely balance against the bitterness.
The female figure that carried it to the figure seated in the large ergonomic relaxation chair moved across the polished black floor soundlessly, arrived and set the mug down on the small table beside the chair, the handle aligned for ease of grasping by the figure in the chair.
"Thank-you, my dear girl. It smells perfect...astringent, yet ever so slightly sweet. You make it far better than I ever could." The figure in the chair said in gratitude, reaching out with an age-gnarled, claw-like hand that tremored slightly as it took the handle and lifted the weight of the mug.
"You're welcome, Father.” The woman said, remaining where she was and looking out through the reflectionless metaglass of the large gallery they were within atop one of the most aesthetically and carefully engineered towers on Earth. Out there, beyond the glass lay an ocean of lights, glowing tribute and monument to Humanity’s reign on the planet, testament to ingenuity of defiance of the day-night cycle.
Her eyes looked out, and down into the maze of lighting that showed the layout and patterning of streets, seeing the various vehicles and people walking as at varying altitudes airborne vehicles of the same rough size as their ground-bound counterparts travelled the night air as people went to and fro, countless errands for countless people.
“Taking in the view, or is there something on your mind?” Asked her father, his aged voice still strong, warm and inviting

MemberTrilobiteAug-26-2020 4:06 PMWOW! That was beautiful, Blackwinter-witch. I won't lie that i teared up- it got me in the feels. I don't want to spoil, but I was expecting something to happen that didn't because I am cynical, and I am glad I was wrong. I also notice your felines even influence a bit of your writing ;) Thanks for sharing!

MemberPraetorianAug-26-2020 5:10 PMThe Bratcats manage to work their influence into everything LOL
I am very glad you enjoyed it and Thank-You for saying so!! It was a 'feels' piece, mainly, and I am very happy that it managed to achieve the mark!!

MemberTrilobiteAug-26-2020 8:41 PMIt is a great work in just 6 pages. There is a lot to talk about and I hope that the forum enjoys it, picks it apart, debates and chews it to the bone like the hungry pack that we can be- sorry- I'm a dog guy lol!

MemberDeaconAug-27-2020 6:06 AMVery Nicely Written, shows a lot of Detail to the Scene as DK pointed out.
I will have to Read your 6 Page Short at some point soon ;)
I really have to check out your ALIEN Manticore too

(Excuse errors--broken-now-patched-together glasses so my typing is 'hesitant')
This little Vignette is an idea I have had rolling around in my head since the scene between David and Holloway in PROMETHEUS, then got built-up when I saw the opening scene of ALIEN: Covenant. I think the inluences from those films are pretty evident. lol
I wanted to do things Differently, there's no need for another Tyrell, Wallace or Weyland...the 'gods'. ;)
A little piece of background info: The father's name is Rothmahnn, first name as-yet to be determined.

MemberPraetorianAug-28-2020 7:16 PMIn ALIEN: Manticore one of the main characters is not Human, and has something of a pretty tragic past that would be tough for anyone to cope against, be they Chimeran or not.
It's touched on in the book, but this gives that anecdote some depth.
This Vignette is the start of the backstory of Selinaehra Jhaat-Soong Du'Maur set when her entire personal universe changed abruptly and frighteningly.

MemberTrilobiteAug-28-2020 8:54 PMBack to Perfect Organism. The Prometheus/Covenant influences are obvious but not overly so- and you took it in a different direction. There is enough information and dialogue for it to be a self contained short or it could serve as a scene to a larger work. Having a short attention span, I will go with the former.
Blackwinter-witch
MemberPraetorianAug-28-2020 9:13 PMPerfect organism....
I wanted to leave it somewhat nebulous in regards to it's connections with Prometheus and the other works in the Canon Alienverse, and I did enjoy taking things into a new direction.
The ALIEN Universe is huge, there's all manner of stories, plots, plans, schemes and people busy with their lives and agendas...and technology that increasingly allows more and more 'godlike' machinations by people. :)
I intended Perfect Organism as a self-contained short work, but while it IS that, it doesn't close any doors about future things connected to it...should ideas pop into my head. :)
