Why are we here on the AC Forum?

Great topic, I have to say. It might not get much attention, but it's a really good Topic!

Same for me. The topics are intriguing, and so much more interesting than the humdrum mundane drivel I hear in the pub.

Also I'm the kind of person who paid the best part of £100 to get hold of a VHS copy of Aliens in the late 80s.

I am here because of the people who are here. I've never been and have no desire to be a member of any other forum.

I'd like to see returning the other people from the better days, like Lawrence of Arabia, Vivisected Engineer, Ati, Chli to name just a few. Hope they will return when a new film will be announced or sooner than that.

Until then, we have to keep this forum alive.

 Vivisected Engineer was here not long ago and may have gotten busy with her profession. If you look at the Leader Boards, you can see several members haven't been around since 18 Jan 2019 for whatever reason. I miss them and hopefully they come back- like you say, when some new Alien news comes out.

dk I noticed Vivisected Engineer was back and quite active some time ago, like a starved xenomorph :). Like Blackwinter-witch well said,, rest until there is no reason to rest.

Imagine what will be when they announce a new film! I just hope we won't be disappointed with some The Predator style one.

Yeah, I was looking forward to Predator but was pretty disappointed.

Like everyone else I enjoy coming here to talk about everything Alien. I also come here for some of the drama....to be honest I enjoy a good debate about how these intricate things in the alien universe all fit together.

All that being said there are so many other interesting movies out there and I also miss very much not being able to just go to another part of the web site and talk about this new movie TENET. It just does not exist as part of this platform....I had another log in from about 7 years ago that I lost the login credentials for. I had taken this job and I could not post on here for a few years. 

However my career path is a little bit closer to the arts and I need a forum like this more than ever.....one of my goals for the next five years is to write a screen play to shop and get made into a movie.

So like a lot of people I had to start over with the site and create a new login. 

I said this before and I want to say it again...I think a lot of us have been absolutely obsessed with Alien....can we play with other toys?????? There are so many other sci-fi movies...I just do not understand why we cannot talk about some other movies...even every once in a while.

Another thing I brought up is that we could do an Alien viewing over Zoom....and hey if you did not really want to join in you could at least point the web cam at your TV and still maintain your privacy....We could still all get wild and crazy and have a good laugh at each other. 5 years or more is long time to be chatting with other people and not have some kind of Skype conference or teamspeak chat where we all get into a real group conversation....we have so many people here that would really enjoy a richer experience. 

And for anyone that would want or needs to maintain confidentiality...you can all sign in with fictitious credentials. These are servers with firewalls at corporations....if you do not wish to ever go on camera or say your real name....then that is that we all respect each other but you all know what I mean....I mean we dont even have a facebook or twitter page that we could all log into that is set to private....you all get what I am saying.....

Why are a lot of us coming here for years at a time typing all this stuff when we can have chat conversations on just about any platform and still maintain complete privacy.

Like I said I have been coming here for years but I never asked anyone here ever....where they work, how much they earn, right!!!! I am just here to chat about movies and talk with friends.....and I know not all us even live in the same country......we are global!!!!

Now if I had to guess, of course I can not be sure BD could be a space alien!!! LOL

This was picked up recently on a security cam!!! So if you do not want BD reading your thoughts I suggest plenty of tinfoil!!!!

PERSPECTIVE seems to have gotten some good traction, which is a relief, as it was a Experiment. I'm glad folks are enjoying it, a little bit of story to keep ALIEN alive and well. :)

Regarding the OT.

I Joined at the NEWS that a Prequel to ALIEN was in the Works, and so to Discus the Prequel as WHILE indeed the Alien Franchise does interest me.

It was the Potential that we could Uncover who the SPACE JOCKEY Race were that Really Interested me.

But i still like to Discus/Debate and Speculate on ALL THINGS within Context or Not to the ALIEN Franchise.

Been some Interesting Discussions on here over the 8+ Years i have been here, and HERE is to Many More.

Hopefully in 1-2 Years we can get some NEWS on a New Project within the Franchise ;)

Because there are people here that enjoy various kinds of the franchise, some are into the comics and some are not, people have different opinions about the movies. I like that there are other people that enjoy the franchise and I do too even though we might like different parts and to various degrees. Just because I like a scene very much doesn't mean that another one likes it to the same degree. For example someone might respond to the SJ with amazement while another one responds with “Oh that’s interesting”, they both like it but not to the same extent.

The more people that participate the better, just don't be an asshole. I’m sorry if I have acted rude towards anyone here.

At times there is humor, there is a place for it here too.

There is a podcast about the alien franchise that I listen to and enjoy and if some people download, listen and enjoy that then it's good that someone else appreciates it.

Some people might enjoy things that I don't. Maybe there's someone that likes Resurrection, I don't but they are allowed to enjoy it. Who am I to say that they can't? Even though I don't like how the prequels have turned out there are at least parts that I like, I don't dismiss them totally.

I can try to accept that people might like things that I don't. When there are central things to the franchise that I don't think work then I get opinionated about it, not things like how a ship looks because that's just a detail.

BWW makes her fan-stories, I appreciate that. The fact that someone out there can care about the franchise so much so the person creates fan-things just because is interesting. Big Dave brings his essays and a lot of them are interesting to read. We all have our own perspectives, that's what makes it good.

AC FORUM is a space where you can be an hardcore fan, but it's also a space where you can be a person that just likes a good story. AC FORUM is a space of freedom, where you can share your thoughts and your ideas of almost everything, related with the Alien franchise.

I AM a loyal reader of various topics and the texts of some members, like @BigDave, were very inspiring for me to become here and there a writer. 

@dk, you are also an inspiration, because i feel goodness in your words.

I'm here as this forum has the nicest, and most intelligent and well-spoken fans to be found in the ALIEN Fandom, also, the greater reach of scified allows me to interconnect easily to Blade Runner..

It's a quiet, fun place with nice, intelligent people who love ALIEN. That's why I love it here.
