Prometheus vs. Alien: Romulus - Which teaser trailer was better?
Chris
AdminEngineerMar-22-2024 6:18 PMI loved the Alien: Romulus teaser trailer. It's up there as one of the best teasers for an Alien film in recent memory, however it's very similar to the first teaser trailer we received for Prometheus 13 years ago. Looking back, both teasers utilized a lot of the same approaches to build hype and suspense. Comparing the two, regardless of what you thought of Prometheus, which film do you think had the better teaser?

I'm not sure which one I prefer yet between these two, they both were so well done...

MemberFacehuggerMar-23-2024 2:44 PMthis is so hard to choose, both are magnificent. But I remember I was totally hooked after watching the Prometheus trailer back in 2012. It was just AWESOME feeling, especially after all the AVP mess that Prometheus trailer is totally a breath of fresh air. The number of times I rewatched it was definitely more than ROMULUS. So yeah I vote for Prometheus.

MemberChestbursterMar-26-2024 3:34 PMThis is tough one but I think the Prometheus teaser hit slightly harder partly because it was the main man Ridley behind it, but also due to the fact that it was really well edited and kept you guessing.
Other heavy names such as Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba were also attached to it meaning quality acting was to be expected. Speaking of that and regarding Alien Romulus, I have no idea who this young cast is but hopefully they can pull it off in a convincing way. The Romulus teaser looks fantastic no doubt both on a technical and especially aesthetic level. I also love the camera work with classic slow pans and the hallway dolly shots.

MemberPraetorianMar-27-2024 6:33 AMYeah this is a tough one but I vote Prometheus simply it was a return to form after what Paul W S Anderson did to AVP

MemberChestbursterMar-27-2024 8:12 AMYeah hopefully he won't be allowed to direct another Alien film even though I'll admit I kind of liked his Event Horizon as a guilty pleasure kind of like Alien Resurrection.

MemberFacehuggerMar-27-2024 12:17 PMSpeaking of Alien Resurrection, I think it is such a cult classic. It's lighthearted and somewhat ridiculous but professionally executed. The bonding of Alien and Ripley is such a joy to watch.

MemberPraetorianMar-27-2024 4:11 PMI tend to avoid watching Alien Resurrection unless I'm doing a series-wide marathon, from which I skip the AVP movies... unless they reboot the AVP films and set it in the future

MemberFacehuggerMar-28-2024 1:54 PMI still hope the prequel series (Prometheus part 3) will see the light of the day. I believe after Romulus, audience will appreciate the huge world that Ridley has created. And David is such a bad ass character that deserve a trilogy to complete its own prequel saga.

MemberFacehuggerMar-28-2024 2:03 PMI rewatch Alien Resurrection today lol and I enjoy it. And it comes to my mind that Ripley has become more affectionate to the Xenomorph and Android (Call), while calling the human as real "monster".

AdminEngineerMar-29-2024 12:16 PMAlien Resurrection has grown on me over the years, still my least favorite of the Alien series by far, but it has its moments. I should give it a rewatch this weekend as well haha.

MemberChestbursterMar-29-2024 1:09 PMI fully, wholeheartedly and without any doubt support your decision Chris! Sure it has some uh.. "minor" issues like the dialogue sometimes but on the other hand notice how the camera angles are beautifully shot, impressive animatronics and its unique take on Ripley, also showcasing Weaver's acting range.
At the very least it stands out in the series as its own thing, for the better or worse.

MemberFacehuggerMar-29-2024 1:26 PMYes I agree. And it's a perfect time to watch Resurrection on a Easter weekend. :D
