Is there a way to have all Alien movies and tv shows in a timeline so I can make sense of all of this. Things need to be tied together. It's like each movie contradicts previous ones and now this show's date doesn't make sense. Weren't the predators hunting xenomorphs on Earth. When did that happen?

Don't think about "logic" too much as there are already contradicting factors in the timeline.

Previously I would have said this: AVP doesn't exist in the same continuity as Alien now largely due to Prometheus. With Predator Badlands now...who knows. I'd still say avp doesn't count towards Alien. Continuity in Alien is fickle. Romulus made sure Scott's prequels mattered but Noah Hawley wants nothing to do with them. There was nothing explicit in the first two Earth episodes that made Prometheus and Covenant obsolete but there was this promo video from Yutani that said the Maginot's mission has been active for 65 years meaning well before Prometheus...which just doesn't match with Prometheus. But it also seems she's in Control of WY almost as if there's no Weyland around to run the company.                                             Hell it seems Alien 3 and Resurrection are largely ignored by recent games, books and comics. Neomorph is right, loads of contradictions already exist.

Closest to an actual canon comes from the Alien rpg. The guy that runs it separates Alien, predator, and AVP into three separate continuities. Here's a link

check this.                                                                                                                     This image is also helpful uploaded image

Ultimately canon is what you make it in my opinion. Some people consider Colonial Marines canon. It's not but you absolutely can if you care about it. Don't care about Alien 3? By all means consider William Gibson's Alien 3 your canon 3. It has a graphic novel, book, and Audio drama now. And yes if you consider AVP canon by all means do so

Thank you Neomorph for the timeline. Now for more of my next questions: If the xenomorphs and other creatures were already on Earth, why didn't anyone know about them? Why was Ripley's crew sent to that planet when the company already knew about those creatures? Who was that astronaut they discoverd and why did he have eggs in his ship? How did Ripley know he wasn't from that planet? What about the predators hunting expedition with the xenomorphs down in the ground underneath the pyramid? I wish they would just tie all the movies together. I have a gazillion questions and I would enjoy the movies and tv show more if they wer answered.

Would like to see a Covenant 2 movie so we can find out what happened to David, the 2 crew members, the people literally hanging out in the other room, and the frozen human embryos. Would also like to see the engineers, find out who and what they are, and why they wanted to end life on earth with the black goo that got them instead.

@Neomporph, That timeline is incorrect, they have changed it since. Alien Earth is set in 2120, 2 years before the events of the original Alien. (To be fair to you, the timeline has changed a few times)

Oh, I had no idea. Could you delete it? I can't edit my posts yet.

AVP is never going to be canon, not with Ridley Scott around. You can let that one go

They were only talking millions in 2179 but they were talking trillions in the Alien Earth tv show.

Alien Earth is separate continuity so far. They've confirmed as much. It'll still lead to Alien but Aliens is 59 years after this so i doubt Noah Hawley is really concerned with neatly tying into anything that far down the timeline. Prometheus and Covenant already don't matter to Earth. He doesn't like the prequels.

They do use some things from the prequels. One of the things that stood out was when David's master told him to pour his tea and David gave him that look. In Alien Earth, the boy genius degraded his assistant by stating he never had an intelligent conversation with her and she gave him the same look. Wonder what she will do to him as the series progresses. Hell hath no fury!

There seems to be some similarities between Earth and Scott's prequels. Whether it's intentional or coincidental remains to be seen.
