David 7
MemberFacehuggerDec-25-2016 6:28 AMThe unknown figure that is walking in the cloak is David. He is wearing the same cloak that the Engineer was wearing in the opening shots of Prometheus when he sacrificed himself. Looks as of David is carrying some sort of Engineer Weapon.

StaffNeomorphDec-25-2016 6:30 AMIt could be the weapon he took from one of the guys from the security, that probably got facehugged.

MemberFacehuggerDec-25-2016 6:31 AMI love the poetry there. The engineer created us wearing the cloak. Perhaps David is wearing the cloak to create the classic Xeno

MemberFacehuggerDec-25-2016 6:37 AMSo, it appears that after the Dropship explodes, they look for shelter to stay while the Covenant makes plans to come down and get them. I am assuming that is where Crudup finds the egg and the remains crew find things as well.

MemberOvomorphDec-25-2016 6:59 AMcould this planet actually be the planet that we see in the first scene of PROMETHEUS, where the Engineer drinks the black goo and dissolves in the water?
most people seem to assume that that was Earth, but it was never actually made clear. and the shots of this planet in COVENANT look very much like it could be that planet from PROMETHEUS!
and it makes more sense to me too. i never quite bought the notion that the Engineers seeded life on Earth and that's why human DNA is identical (?) to theirs. if they had seeded life here billions of years ago, then it would make no sense that human DNA would be identical to Engineer DNA after billions of years of evolution.
and in the COVENANT trailer, we see that there are clearly plants (?) on this planet whose spores can infect people with the mutation virus thingy. so it would make a lot of sense to me that this planet is the one where the Engineer in PROMETHEUS seeds his DNA with the black goo, and therefore there are now plants (and maybe other life forms?) on this planet based on the black goo.
what do you think?
David 7
MemberFacehuggerDec-25-2016 7:49 AMThat shot which is at the last of the trailer pulling back out of the cave has to be after Crudup has been face hugged and the camera pulls back as he lieing there as David walks away.

MemberFacehuggerDec-25-2016 7:51 AM@brightgeist I'm in agreeance with your idea. I think this is the planet we saw in the opening shots of Prometheus. Or the engineers when terraforming a planet have all the same template for the planets they terraform. But I agree this planet might be the same planet we saw in Prometheus.

MemberOvomorphDec-25-2016 9:30 AMgood point @brightgeist... I was also thinking maybe the spores we see entering the captains ear are used to synthesize (or one of the ingredients) the Black Goo...
David 7
MemberFacehuggerDec-25-2016 9:37 AMThe spore we see entering the ear is not of the captain but the actor named Rigby, who we see giving birth to the backburster in the initial start of the trailer. Crudup, the captain gets the face hugger as David looks on in amazement. Crudup will make it back on board the Covenant and then give birth to the Alien, aka Chestburster which will be loose on the ship and get the couple in the shower.
Still, there is a lot we haven't seen. Usually, in a month or later, we will get a fuller trailer that gives us more plot points and possible more shots of David and maybe, Shaw but for now we are left in mystery.

MemberOvomorphDec-25-2016 9:43 AMI just watched the opening sequence of Prometheus and the area where the water are looks like the same. The waterfall maybe there where i marked with red.

MemberOvomorphDec-25-2016 10:23 AMthanks for point that out @David007. Regarding Shaw I'm afraid for her... But who knows, David has his own motives... He could have easily keep her in cryo-sleep while he puts his plan into action
David 7
MemberFacehuggerDec-25-2016 10:42 AMWhat if...Walter is really the villain and David is not. Walter is insistent that David be upgraded but does not want to be re-attached to the cord that he is now free from. Walter has that (ASH) mission. Bring back life forms and David is really the good guy...just a thought.
Dark Nebula
StaffNeomorphDec-25-2016 11:10 AMI would say that David is the Villain.Ridley did say in an interview something about David being dangerous.
"Once that head goes back on,he's really dangerous. But he's also very seductive,so maybe you persuaded him to put his head back on".
Since they used alot of unused concepts from prometheus I think that they are also following the idea from Jon Spaihts Alien: Engineers draft where David is more darker character who later gained true self awareness later in the plot.
My thoughts.

MemberFacehuggerDec-25-2016 1:53 PMre. the spores. My take is that the ship Shaw(?) and David arrive on has part crashed and released some of its payload when doing so - deliberately or otherwise. The spores have then 'evolved' from merging with the flora there.
The crew step across these when searching for the signal.
I expected the trailer to give some shocks away, it has to to lure the public in who aren't as . . . ahem . . . engrossed as posters here ;)
I'm sure there are other shocks to come and not too much about the plot revealed that an educated guess wouldn't have come to, give or take . . .
Big thanks to Chris and the team for putting all this together :)

MemberOvomorphDec-25-2016 1:59 PMIn my opinion, this planet must be the "Paradise" planet/engineer homeworld. Their civilization is destroyed and ancient by now. They're creations lead to their own destruction by some mishap or self-sacrifice or perhaps a great war between rival nations. Anyway, this is where Shaw and David landed, that ship we see is their ship from Prometheus. This isn't LV-223 and most definitely not LV-426. It doesn't make any sense for it to be LV-426, because the company doesn't set out to colonize that planet for another 40 years or something, and when they do, with no knowledge of what's there. (Only after Ripley gave her statement at debriefing did Burke send the colonists out to look for the ship, and without company knowledge ("administration sets in and their are no exclusive rights for anyone so I made a decision, and it was a bad call Ripley")
Anyway I digress, it's the engineer homeworld where their ancient ruins exist. We see those ruins in other photos as well. Scott has said in interviews this movie will answer the question of where the aliens come from and who made them, and that it would answer other questions from Prometheus. So I wouldn't get too nervous about this being more aliens than prometheus and not settling more about the engineers. Just because we don't see that side in the trailer it will exist in the movie. Let's not forget he has at least one more prometheus sequel up his sleeve before we connect the dots to Alien.

MemberFacehuggerDec-25-2016 2:00 PMAlso, is it me or does the back burster guy look very pale/white prior to the 'exit', as if he is taking on neo-morph characteristics?
Perhaps a nod to Fifield's zombie?

MemberFacehuggerDec-25-2016 6:00 PMTo add, I just read on JoBlo that the Covenant is carrying 200 colonists on board the ship.

MemberOvomorphDec-25-2016 6:01 PMI believe that this is not the homeworld of the engineers, in fact It's a planet where they test the black goo as a weapon because one picture shows lagoons of black goo or perhaps the original civilization from there.

MemberFacehuggerDec-25-2016 7:02 PMIt's not another lv 223
Nick.nam
MemberOvomorphDec-25-2016 7:56 PMThere's all kinds of pictures of ruins and temples and the Pompeii -esque bodies, a picture was related showing Daniels at the base of one of these said temples, which is what I'm basing my hypothesis on. If they aren't engineers then perhaps it is another of the engineer's seeded planets with sister-race of ancient humanoids that once inhabited it.
Other interviews from way back indicated they were not revisiting the planet from Prometheus, which would be LV-223, and I just can't logically place them on LV-426 based on what we know of that planet from later in the timeline movies, and on what we've seen from this movie.

MemberOvomorphDec-25-2016 8:02 PMSo perhaps not the Engineer homeworld, but definitely has their influence if not

MemberFacehuggerDec-25-2016 9:49 PM@brightgeist
my only problem with the theory that the planet in Covenant is the planet from the beginning of Prometheus is... we are to assume the planet in Covenant is the Engineers home planet. Why would they be seeding life on their home planet? Considering the nature of the black goo, why do that on your home planet? It's possible they didn't know the nature of the black goo at that time, but still, you'd think it would be kind of like a "don't **** where you eat" kind of situation.
Although we can't say for sure! But that is just my thought process for the whole situation. You could very well be right though.

MemberOvomorphDec-25-2016 10:36 PMI think this is a cool theory that I came up with when they first started taking about Paradise Lost. (What if) the Engineer at the end of Prometheus was a rouge scientist or general that was the creator of the black goo. He unveiled his creation to his world and was it was looked upon by his superiors as a abomination and missuse of his expertises and was ordered to destroy all samples. Little did they know on his secret military lab on lv223, he had a massive stockpile and was planning on destroying all the planets that the Engineer race seeded with life as he also looked upon these creations as abominations himself. He then proceeded to destroy his home world with his creation and escaped to lv223 with his loyals to proceed with his original plan to wipe out life in the universe. A ship managed to escape from the home world before it was completely overwhelmed with the new bio weapon. The ship carrying high ranking officials discovered the generals plan and decided to seed all earth like planets before the general and his loyals completely wiped out the universe. Spy's on the ship's notified the general of their plan and he ordered his loyals to accelerate the process of loading the ship's with the vases. He calculated the ship's trajectory and learned earth was it's first destination which he also made his. Once his ship was fully loaded he was the first to enter his cryogenic chamber and that's when a outbreak occurred and what you see in Prometheus. The ship landed on earth and seeded it and between trips the ship was sabotage by the spy's inside killing everyone on board leaving earth the only planet that was seeded. And that's all I got folks tell me what y'all think of this theory thanks for reading

MemberOvomorphDec-27-2016 12:47 AMI want to point out real quick, the scene with the facehugger, we see two figures. Our poor victim and David, notice how the victim looks at David, david doesn't react at all. I'm pretty sure David lured him away to this remote area where the xeno could be born.

MemberOvomorphJan-05-2017 2:14 AMConcerning the black goo - I believe the Engineers use this mutagen in order to terraform planets. They are both creators and destroyers. They sacrifice themselves (by drinking the goo) in order to begin life on newly discovered inhabitable planets. The goo interacts with their genetic code, breaks it down and then reforms into new and diverse species of life that are compatible with the planet they wish to populate. That life becomes test beds for new experiments with the goo - possibly for bioweaponry (Xenomorporphs). I find it interesting that Ridley Scott hints at the Annunaki in Prometheus by using Sumerian Cuneiform as the language of the Engineers.

MemberPraetorianMar-01-2017 1:18 PMAt 1.41 of the trailer you can see little spikes/tendrils coming out of the back of Benjamin Rigby's head, so that could mean back plus headburster combined!
