Looks like a modified natural cave, or a post catastrophe hard structure underground. I'm pretty sure there's an egg in the frame, too.

How far into the trailer is this?

Indeed its a very hard scene to figure out... what we can say for sure is this.

*Some underground Cave that looks like it has been modified and so is not Natural or was carved out of a Natural Cave and it has support structure to it.

This could be a scene most likely from underground be it some place where the Juggernaught Crashed, or near by or beneath the Engineer Temples/Ziggurat. 

I would assume maybe this connects to the underground Cave were those Eggs are.

The other question is those bodies.. its hard to tell if they are Engineers as one at the front looks Bald but its so low resolution the only thing we can confirm is bodies.  Thus.

*Engineers related from the past.

*Engineers related post David's arrival.

*Human Crew of the Covenant.

The movie has so many mysteries yet due to the nature of the trailer and we cant put 100% together a time-frame yet.

We do have a Small Cast...... i would assume they keep some of the cast for staying on the Covenant the whole time, apart from maybe 1-2 of those being involved in a rescue mission.

And looking at just before this scene we see Tess Haubrich screaming.... i would assume someone would have to witness Billy Crudrup Character getting Chest Busted... and i would think that Haubrich could fit the bill by her reaction...

We know there is 100% a Xeno related Organism that gets to the Covenant, we know 100% Crudrup gets Face Hugged in a Cave that is purposely created (not Natural).

Looking at the Cave Scene in this Topic and Haubrich Character in the prior shot... its so dark but i would assume She is shown either...

*in a Chest Buster Scene on board the Covenant... where she witness the event.

*in the same scene but it happens in those Caves (where we have to ask how does she get there? Part of the Rescue crew or original crew).

*Or as above but she does not witness a Chest Buster but something else in those Caves.

Its not very clear unfortunately

The further away object clearly looks like a Body... the more closer one does.. but its hard to say what these are.

Another clue.... and one which is a theory that may sound a bit strange....

What if a previous Drop Ship went down...  at dark and dropped off some Mercs.. to scout the area...  then returned to the Covenant...

They loose communication with this first wave.. then send down a second wave to investigate.

The first wave we dont really see... we could get a quick shot but its dark and dont see faces...

We then flash back to the rest of the crew.... latter they hear nothing of this group and send down a 2nd wave.... which is why Daniels says to Crudrup "we dont know what the %$£^ is down there"

This would fit in with them, going in after and that Scene where Daniels finds the Dog Tag.... i checked and no way Shaw or David had one...

Those dead bodies in the Cave could be from the previous group sent down...

Yes may seem odd, and maybe against the trailer in some parts and we have a cast list which will be people who get screen time... does not mean we dont get any cannon fodder and bit part actors who wont appear on the cast until after the movie is out (like the Mechanics and most of the Mercs in Prometheus).

Otherwise we have to look at the Covenant Crew Kill List... with Spoilers.....  Alien Covenant taking away Guy Pearce and Noomi Rappace (small roles) and Fassbender...

McBride, Smollett  Hernandez* (who dies in Shower scene with Scaletti*) are all on the Covenant and its bridge... this is 4 of the 16 casted crew..

Crudrup*, Seimetz* (Drop Ship Pilots) and then the Drop Ship has Fassbender.. England, Dean, Latukefu, Ejogo*, Bichir, Rigby*, Waterston and likely one more... on the Drop Ship.

*Killed or likely in the Trailer...

These leaves only James Franco, Goran D. Kleut and  Tess Haubrich from the Cast... not shown in the trailer apart from Haubrich  who is seen screaming before the Cave shot.... so she is either...

*Witnised Crudrup Chest Buster in that Cave or on the Covenant

*Witnised something else, and is either part of the Drop Ship crew or recovery crew..

*Maybe a original crew... if this new theory would work..

Its a theory that may not be correct and one i only put out based on that shot of some Security walking in the high grass at night all with the same hats.... with the code clue 220512052104

Which when we tried to find a pattern... i am not sure if anyone cracked it or not... but logically to me and many others it was reading 10:05PM December 5th 2104

next image was the Cryo-Sleep which was set if this assumption was correct at this image being 22:05 22:05 12/05/2104

The next image of the Cryo-Pods would be 13:01 12/06/2104 some 15 hours after the first shot...

Next image was the Bloodied Med Bay which was 22:46 12/07/2104  which would be nearly 35 hours after the Cryo-Pod and some nearly 49 hours after the first shot of Security Personnel.

With the Final Image being a Corridor much like the Derelict at 18:56 12/08/2104 some near 20 hours after the mishap in the Med Bay and 67 hours approx after the first shot.

So if these images are meant to show such time-frame... then indeed a previous Group could have gone down that could include Franco... but we would not clearly see these guys... and only arrive at the aftermath... Dead Bodies.... Dog Tags etc.

what daniels says could also be inregard to the fact theyv woken up and like in alien r not where they should be. walter knows though and has spoken to the new captain and, like ash, points out they r obliged to investigate and this is a scene where daniels is speaking privately to crudrup and questioning the decision

@BigDave I think you're on to it.

First dropship goes down to planet to investigate signal. This includes Seimetz, Ejogo, Rigby, other mercs....and Franco. Franco goes missing, mercs go down, Rigby gets infected and brought back to dropship where Seimetz and Ejogo send distress call back to Covenant.

Second dropship (containing Crudup, Walter, Daniels, Birchir's character that we see in the trailer) arrives in time to see madness happening with first dropship (Rigby births or transforms into Neomorph, kills Ejogo and Seimetz blows up), Walter and Crudup find egg while Daniels finds Franco's dogtags.

Daniels, Walter, infected Crudup (maybe David) end up back on Covenant. Xeno bursts from Crudup, shower scene commences.

Just my timeline based on what we've all discussed.
