WAR ON LV-426?
Ati
MemberPraetorianFeb-05-2017 7:08 PMPIONEER featured the designs of H.R. Giger’s creatures in a series of Japanese magazine ads for their Zone home entertainment system in the eighties. Giger created a video commercial as well.

'A monster designed by H.R. Giger starred in a 1985 Japanese commercial for the Zone home entertainment system by Pioneer. The biomechanical beast -- which was also featured in ads that ran at the same time -- appears to be based on illustrations Giger made for underground filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky's screen adaptation of "Dune," which never made it to production.'

The commercial was produced by Giger.

The Dome is moving, it is moving its head. It looks like a huge living rock, a huge monster. Is it possible that the original idea introduced the dome/the pyramid as a huge living creature? Are these huge domes the mothers/the creators of the eggs?
Are the LV223 domes monuments representing these huge creatures?
Where does the scene take place? On LV426? The creature is holding a huge gun.(?) Is it a war scene? Was there a war on LV426?
These are images from the video:

MemberPraetorianFeb-05-2017 7:14 PMI think it's possible. If so then it has some wild implications for the Alien universe.Ridley does take Giger's work very seriously. If it isn't recognized in film then maybe comics or books or any other media tie in.

MemberPraetorianFeb-05-2017 7:22 PMTime will tell. It would be good to see this war in an Alien: Covenant sequel. A war on LV426 could explain a lot of things.

MemberPraetorianFeb-05-2017 7:35 PMI'd love to see an origins story that focuses on the engineers. They could use a lot of this for that concept.

MemberXenomorphFeb-05-2017 9:40 PMWhile it's cool to see Giger's work realised as a model, obviously it's nothing to do with Alien or Prometheus.
But if they give Giger a credit at the front it hardly qualifies as a "ripoff" either.

MemberPraetorianFeb-05-2017 9:42 PMReally Dr. Swojd if you dislike the topic don't comment on it.

MemberDeaconFeb-06-2017 7:27 AMSome very interesting ideas but i am not sure it would work that way but who knows...
Fire and Stone had the Deacons Fate as being connected to the Temple Mound/Caves and implies the whole complex was alive and growing and so who knows.
HR. Giger had the idea that the Derelict is Grown, and that it produced the Eggs.
And so if so then a crashed ship could continue to Grow and this could explain the discrepancy of the Cargo Hold size compared to the Ship.

MemberDeaconFeb-06-2017 7:29 AMIf we look at it from Fire and Stone, and Gigers ideas, then indeed maybe provided the Ship/Structure has Sacrificial Genetic Material it could continue to grow and grow and turn a Landscape into a Horrid Bio-Mechanical Landscape..
And so it would act like a Virus and a Cancer. In a very Alien way too.

MemberPraetorianFeb-06-2017 9:06 AMThanks, ninXeno426, but you don't have to do that. The commercial was produced by Giger himself in 1985. Moreover, he created some design art exclusively for Pioneer as well.

WOOPS double post!

MemberPraetorianFeb-06-2017 11:03 AMAti- I had no idea about this commercial, so thanks for bringing it to our attention!
Those concepts were actually created by Giger for Alejandro Jodorowskys DUNE.
The downside is that they were no doubt used without his permission. Nevertheless, it was interesting to see them in motion.

MemberPraetorianFeb-06-2017 11:26 AMLone, with the deepest respect, why don't you visit the links included? He was involved in the project.
He produced the commercial and the image I posted was created by him exclusively for the company Pioneer.
Please, compare them:

Apologies Ati I did click on the link, but somehow managed to miss that info! *grovels shame-facedly*

MemberPraetorianFeb-06-2017 11:54 AMNo problem, Lone. The source article writes about that he produced the commercial and exclusive design for the company Pioneer. He made a new version of the dome based on his Dune concept art.
The video starts with: VISION: H.R.GIGER. It would have been impossible to make such a video without his permission. So it is not a question of permission, he was involved in the project.

MemberPraetorianFeb-08-2017 12:58 PMI don't say I would like to see an Alien war film but I am impressed by its technical and visual aspects and possibilities. Am I the only one who wishes to see relevant space stations, vehicles, robots, etc?

MemberPraetorianMar-13-2017 9:55 PMReally great finds. Yes, Giger would have had to give permission and it looks like the pyramid below was not new in regards to the concepts included in Prometheus with the artwork above.
The Mars excavation in the Prometheus concept is great also.

Ridley Scott knew as soon as he saw Giger what he wanted when he portrayed evil. Giger art was perfect for it because he embraced the fringe exotic loss of humanity in biomechanical.
This topic on LV-426 is legitimate because it taps into classical Giger approved use...and Ridley Scott used the exact shape in Prometheus in the Engineer pyramid.
