An interview with writer John Logan
ON APRIL 4, 2017DG: How would you describe the Covenant’s mission in the film?
JL: The Covenant isn’t on a military mission, or a mining mission, unlike Alien and Aliens. It’s a colonial ship, and they’ve left earth, and they’ve set out on a colonization mission. They’re trying to make a new home on this new planet, which has the feel and look of dark grandeur.
DG: How would you describe the dynamic that exists between Billy Crudup’s character, Captain Christopher Oram, and Katherine Waterston’s Daniels?
JL: Billy and Katherine are at odds in the film over how they’re going to build this new world on this strange planet. Billy’s character is a religious, spiritual man who feels very uneasy about trying to take over a new planet and then remake it in their image.

MemberPraetorianApr-11-2017 7:48 PMI enjoyed the interview and I really enjoyed the way he summed things with the 'wizard of oz' metaphor. :D
I didn't notice any plot-hole in the interview, but I know they're going to play close to the chest with details.

Let's get to the point!
Rosenthal from "Alien: Covenant Prologue: Last Supper"
I heard about these crazy bugs, just outside this colonial post. Apparently, they look like cockroaches the size of a giant poodle.

to avoid confusions AC won t be a honey moon or "The Wizard of Oz" in words of JL, is very clear, one member knows something. Rosenthal has a suspicious theory different and throws overboard what the author says.

MemberChestbursterApr-12-2017 9:04 PMAnother question, I m wondering why AC crew [did not] know what happen to Prometheus expedition, that is another point or uncovered hole, in my opinion this crew will be sacrificed by Weyland Corporation, MUTHUR and Walter, and an undeveloped member of the crew perhaps.

Maybe the company decided to keep most of their data on the Engineers classified from not just the employees, but also Colonial Administration, the Marines, Earth government etc.
That's mainly my speculation, though. The Prometheus project was a secretive mission, and many of the crew members didn't know what they signed up for until they got to LV-223. In this case, the officials are aware of the Covenant crew's intended mission to colonize. The company would basically need to make it look like they're not doing anything wrong: they don't want colonial admins asking too many questions. Learning that some Engineers are malevolent towards humans might cause people back home to panic.

The Prometheus' destination was classified. All they likely know is that it disappeared.

and many of the crew members didn't know what they signed up for until they got to LV-223. (?)
I'm not sure if is the initial target planet, but the ship could be diverted off via this new route by a distress signal, this is premonitory, because the interview not fit with the real plot himself.

MemberDeaconApr-13-2017 6:17 PMIts been confirmed by Ridley Scott that the CREW of the Covenant how No Knowledge about the events of Prometheus.
This does not mean MUTHUR or Walter do not.... but we cant really say for sure yet, only those Humans do-not know about Prometheus etc.
As far as the Giant Cockroaches, this was a Easter Egg to Aliens in the Last Supper Viral, the Viral had many more Easter Eggs too.
But if we are to speculate, then indeed maybe after Prometheus (as up to this mission Mankind had not encountered more than basic life). And so from the year 2094-2104 indeed Mankind could have found some Insect like Organisms in the Galaxy but this does not mean they have encountered Xenomorphs.
Just maybe a Insectoid Organism the size of say a small dog

MemberDeaconApr-13-2017 6:33 PM"DG: How would you describe the relationship between Alien: Covenant and Alien?
JL: We’re taking a firm step toward Alien with this film. There are little Easter eggs in this film that relate to the 1979 film. I picked the title Covenant, inspired by the name of the brig in the Robert Louis Stevenson novel Kidnapped. The word refers to a pact between two people, a solemn agreement between two parties or rulers."
I find this very interesting especially how he referenced The Novel Kidnapped in this Novel i wander if the Role of David from this Novel is going to be similar to that of Shaw?
Also he mentions the meaning of Covenant, which is indeed a Agreement and Pact, usually referenced as a Agreement between God and his Followers.
This no doubt could hold multiple meanings in context to the movie.. Lets take a look at what he said again..
The word refers to a pact between two people (Shaw and David had to make a Pact) , a solemn agreement between two parties or rulers (could this reference to the Engineer Factions or their Hiearchy?).

MemberOvomorphJun-13-2017 3:16 PMHi - I'm a for real NASA astronomer and recently named an asteroid after John Logan. Blessed by all the powers that be. Why? If the screenwriter is John Logan I perk up. "Gladiator", "The Last Samurai" and "Penny Dreadful" are enough reasons. Enough reason to go to "Alien: Covenant" which I would skip because I'm sick of endless sequels revisiting every generation as per Hollywood timing. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10211572349157301&set=a.10204051232854094.1073741830.1022358200&type=3&theater¬if_t=like¬if_id=1497386948531266
