Theory of Alien Origin and Engineer Culture
Deep Space
MemberFacehuggerApr-23-2017 8:14 AMOK, so just before the film is out I wanted to try and clarify my thoughts on the Engineers and their relationship with the Xeno/Goo. I'll try and be brief :)
The way I see it now the engineers seem to be a civilisation that could well be spread far and wide across the galaxy. It makes me wonder if there was an 'original' or what you might call the 'top' race or another group of beings altogether that kick started the whole thing.
It would also seem that part of their culture is to use the goo, alongside a sacrifice, to create new variants or culture groups within the overall civilistation. Basically: sacrifice + goo + humanoid = new race (Earthlings as an e.g.)
THis has been repeated across the universe for a long time; hence the cave paintings which could be designed or intended to show links to a wider world . . .
AS we have seen though it would appear at least one faction had some grand ideas, or sought dominance or greater control, alpha status etc over the whole of the wider civilisation - hence they created the xeno or used the goo as a weapon.
Some kind of war started which is what I think led to LV223. I'm still not sure if this was built for benign or destructive purposes but it does look as if whoever was there ran into some trouble - possibly via sabotage or infiltration?
This then leads us where we are now. Humans finding what seems to be remnants of an old(ish) war and clues that point to the creation of the xeno and possible misuse of the black goo
There's nothing new here really but given the new footage and images it is clear that at least some remnants of the engineer culture (or derivatives of it) remain. At least until David showed up anyway ;) Poor SoB's!
My thinking is that what we see of the xeno in AC is due to David reverse engineering, if you like, and creating it that way from an old recipe! Put simply, the engineers created the xeno to wipe out the competition or threat that they thought other humanoids could be . . .
What do you guys and girls think? What are your thoughts now on the origin of the xeno and how this relates to the engineer culture?

AdminEngineerApr-23-2017 8:50 AMIt definitely resonates with a lot of theories presented since Prometheus, so I'm sure many will agree with your thinking. I like the thought of David reverse engineering the Xenomorph from ancient recipes. That sounds possible for sure.
I think we have two very distinctly different forms of the Black Goo - the sacrificial Goo, shown at the start of Prometheus and the weaponized Goo David uses on the Humanoid population in Covenant. No doubt there were two purposes for this tech.
Much like nuclear energy, one form can be used as an abundant power source while the other can also be used as a devastating weapon. I believe this is the same concept shared by the Black Goo.
So, in short, yes I follow your theory and agree with a lot of it myself.

MemberFacehuggerApr-23-2017 9:01 AMThanks, Chris!
Indeed - nothing that new here but helped me get my thoughts together given the new info.
I do like your comparison to nuclear tech - could well be the source inspiration . . . ?
What is going to be fascinating is the hows and whys . . . hopefully we get at least glimpses of this in AC. My guess is it's going to set that up for the se/prequels.

MemberOvomorphApr-23-2017 10:33 AMIm definatly with you on the reverse engineering of the xenomorph by david. Its better than him some how making them from scratch and his own imagination. Since in some notes about synthetics say they cannot creat art or music or there own things. And it would help keep continuity with the other films

MemberOvomorphApr-23-2017 4:39 PMIt appears that you very well may be right Deep Space. I would go so far as to say that you could be dead on. I agree with all points you bring up. I would be Ok if it plays out that way too! Ridley's really turned this into a sprawling epic. I'm fascinated by it. I can't wait! Cheers!

MemberOvomorphApr-24-2017 1:51 AMI think is very possible that David want to see the devastating result of the Engineers weapon and that is to destroy an entire civilization. After all this is the purpose of this weapon. This planet with this diffrent Engineers, has ofer the perfect oportunity for David. I think also David want to expierence the feeling of a destroyer and as life giver. After all the mission from Earth was finish one way or another and he maybe have he s new own goals, with a behavior being and acting like some God or something.

MemberOvomorphApr-24-2017 4:58 PMIt was never a war. The whole society is asexual. They have weaponry for defense. They created most of the life they know of or could kill others. The engineer we know is born from the Black Goo it's self. It's a hybrid augmented by a diluted version probably parts per millionth. But his skin and size allowed him to survive on LV 223 surface no helmet.
They are asexual and created to seed worlds with their dna for the sake of regrouping their God, creator and his world. That's why they created mankind and those other worlds. It was never a war. That's human. They have a purpose. They render a white Xeno. The Neomorph. They need a black xeno. They found a black xeno when took Mary from human duo sexual reproduction, remember Adam was one sex and perfect. Now they found their Black Xeno but had no Idea she would Produce Eggs and they would hatch. They Froze Mary in the Head room as She Could resurrect their God , prepared the sacrifice of the Head and Ampules of ready Black Goo, and the Trapped Mary Xeno, remember Mary was taken into Heaven whole.... that wasn't a Mural but an actual Xeno, the ULTRAMORPH. THE HUMANS DISTURBED HER CYCLE. LV 223 was suppose be where mankind would sacrifice themselves to her and the Engineer would sacrifice Earth. The true purpose of Mark nd. No one creates for reason. All creations have a purpose.
They never had a war. They would have blasted the Juggernaut out the Sky. I'm going with the Ultramorph was on the Juggernaut and caused the Crash and laid the Eggs.the holes are from acid not crash.

MemberOvomorphApr-24-2017 6:31 PMWhen David says he "won't allow them to start over", he means he is going to destroy these new pseudo-humans on Paradise. They want to wipe us out because they created beings that they think are "better" on Paradise. We are a failed experiment that they were going to destroy IN LIEU of these new beings. From the sounds of it, Engineers are desperate to continue their race, and have been making mistakes in this desperation. David is here to correct them lol!

MemberOvomorphApr-25-2017 4:32 AMI too am with Deep Space , as David re engineering rather than creating the xeno. Makes these sequels compelling as well as keeping the ancient mystery alive from the first Alien movie.

MemberOvomorphMay-03-2017 4:25 AMquick point, has anyone ever noticed that the engineers suits or armour they wear is very reminiscent of the xeno exoskeleton?
