(SPOILERISH) My mind just got blown away
Blackwinter-witch
MemberPraetorianMay-08-2017 7:12 PMIt MIGHT be a call-back to the script for ALIEN, where they're talking to post-decapitated Ash and he says:
"Perhaps it is truly intelligent. Maybe you should try communicating with it."
Ripley: "Did you?"
"Please let my grave hold some secrets."

MemberXenomorphMay-08-2017 7:15 PMSo you think Ash was talking to the alien like a horse whisperer?
Blackwinter-witch
MemberPraetorianMay-08-2017 7:28 PMI've been pondering that since I first read the novelization of ALIEN which has that part in it also. Even after all these years, I still don't know what to think about HOW you'd communicate with it, but I have a gut feeling that Ash did manage such, but not to the extent of being able to order it around...likely low-level initial-bridging communication efforts.

ObscureMammal
MemberOvomorphMay-08-2017 7:31 PMI caught this too, I hope it's not something like the flute we saw in some photos
yesterday's weirdness is tomorrow's reason why
Rick
MemberXenomorphMay-08-2017 7:37 PMI wonder if it's through like radio waves or something. Would make sense when it goes mechanical to be able to pick up radio waves and communicate silently.
BlackGooDrinker
MemberFacehuggerMay-08-2017 7:39 PMDavid with his flute more than likely.
Is there an agenda the mods are not telling us about? ;)
DirtWolf
MemberFacehuggerMay-08-2017 8:14 PMIf the flute is able to emit high frequencies and/or be used for some kind of communication, it just became a bit more interesting.
BigChap72
MemberOvomorphMay-08-2017 8:14 PMSo, no one's up for David doing his best Jethro Tull impression? ;-)
Blackwinter-witch
MemberPraetorianMay-08-2017 8:21 PMHeh, great minds think alike. :) I've been working on the the whole Bio-Mechanical idea for a long time, reasoning out various points, research into electronic components and etc, etc..
Organic radio? NOT that far-fetched, and frankly I'm surprised such hasn't been seen in any real-world terrestrial animals yet!!
The other thing is the 'buzzing' noise associated with it...when watching ALIEN, you'll notice in Brett's death scene thw buzzing noise is entirely seperate from the music, and in deleted scenes where sound fx have been completed but pre-music tracks, the buzzing is there.
SO, been figuring out where THAT comes from, it's purpose and including it into my story. :)

MemberXenomorphMay-08-2017 8:29 PMOk, so I come home from work (sorry I swore) and I crack open a beer.
Then I start to get this idea that keeps pulling at me.
So I keep reaching for my green beer (yeah we all know I love my green beer.) and then Holy Jimney Christmas it hits me like this
OMFG.....What if MUTHUR is the horse whisperer?
Rick
MemberXenomorphMay-08-2017 8:33 PMSorry I couldn't help myself. ATI likes space monkeys, I have a fetish for Green Beer.
Now on a serious Note. Bdubs - relating to my last post here. What if ASH was communicating with the alien thru MUTHUR. It makes sense. He sends out a signal ship wide only the alien could here or sense. He maybe has muthur try and decipher its language while he makes attempts at communication.
Blackwinter-witch
MemberPraetorianMay-08-2017 8:33 PMHmmm...well, can't really find any holes in suspecting the ship's computer...
IN SPACE THERE IS NO WARNING
Rick
MemberXenomorphMay-08-2017 8:41 PMCould be why it is taken Ash and Muthur so long to collate. Muthur could be sending it towards its victim's since she knows where everyone is located on the ship. Also makes sense why muthur wouldn't allow Ripley to override the self destruct she was protecting it. How else would the alien know to hide in the escape pod?
dk
MemberTrilobiteMay-08-2017 8:50 PMI hope it is not the flute. I could just imagine David the Hammerpede charmer.
Little Newt
MemberOvomorphMay-09-2017 1:32 AMHmmm...8min mark...has to be the neomorphs ... because the Xeno apparently comes in towards the end, and as David is alone on the planet and has been for a considerable length of time...hmmm... David is controlling the neos with that flute he was showing Walter! Maybe those cute little neos are David's little pets lol!

MemberPraetorianMay-09-2017 1:42 AMThe only semi-flaw in your theory are R. Scott stating the Alien had reached the end of it's life cycle and sought out a quiet place to curl up and die.
However, that does not occlude your theory, as guiding it there would ensure return of albeit a dead specimen, a specimen nonetheless. Thus fulfilling the SO-937.
REALLY good thinking! I like it, and it really fits so perfectly to the ALIENverse!!!

MemberOvomorphMay-09-2017 4:04 AMBlackwinter-witch I'd completely forgotten about the quote from Ash regarding taking one secret to his grave. I remember gasping the first time he said it.
Mind blown indeed!
LOL at hammerpede charmer!
Blackwinter-witch
MemberPraetorianMay-09-2017 5:01 AMI know right?? First time I read that part...oh, the mind truly spun!! :)
Hammerpede charmer...well, given how much prolonged provocation it took to annoy it into attacking, they MIGHT be pretty decent critters for working with. :)

MemberXenomorphMay-09-2017 5:24 PMLadies & Gents,
It has been confirmed that David is the Alien "horse whisperer". He calmed the Neomorph and it didn't attack. What happens afterward I'm leaving it to you guys to figure out.

MemberXenomorphMay-09-2017 5:26 PMLittle Newt - 8 minute mark of the interview. Not the movie :)

MemberPraetorianMay-09-2017 6:32 PMHmmm....
In ALIEN: Manticore I address the fate of the Deacon, and have some scenes that I have to re-work as I need to keep them in, but want them to be as distinctly seperate from the scene being discussed between David and the Neomorph as is possible.
POSSIBLE SPOILER:
It is NOT going to be some 'hearts and flowers' scene, I assure you. The Deacon does NOT get 'adopted' as a pet or such.
However it does expand (slightly) on the Deacon's nature and intelligence level/ability to relate to other lifeforms in a non-hostile manner.
It is one of three scenes that build off each other in progression.
The Deacon will not be interacting with a Human, nor with a Synthetic.
One scene involves an Alien, the bonafide, biomechanical Big Chap.
The scene with the Alien somewhat ties in to the nature of a Hindu goddess.
