I will cover a few simple one now..

It looks like David knows more than he is letting on about the mission. Does he have info about this place from a previous expedition.

The Weyland Viral Site, confirms that the Company had detected something with that system.

Discovery of Acheron LV-426 (May 14, 2039)

Weyland astronomers discover multiple moons and a ringed planet just outside the Zeta 2 Reticula System, which are possibly able to support life. Weyland expects to travel there within the century.

This is ambiguous and does not have to suggest they knew about LV-426 but that the System has the potential for supporting Life which is most likely LV-223 and not LV-426 although they could have the crashed Derelict had infected the Moon to a more serious level than in Alien Covenant.

However... Holloway in his briefing in Prometheus claimed they had found a Star System from Star Maps, that leads to One System that has a Planet that has A Moon that can support life and they arrived their that morning... thus LV-426 = Baron.

The DVD Extras has this written by Peter Weyland on 01-14-2090 

"As fate would have it, Shaw and Holloway's interest in Zeta 2 Reticuli has proven to be mutually beneficial. While the good doctors rely on ancient carvings and primitive cave paintings, my science division's own long range scans have recently detected a faint, almost imperceptible signal emanating from of the lesser moons in that system. And contrary to the findings of shaw and Holloway, which target LV-223 as our primary site of interest, our findings suggest the point of origin could actually be the moon LV-426.

Per standard procedure, we will embed a David 8 unit with the crew. And he will programmed with multiple contingency plans to address and exploit whatever assets we secure on 223. But only David will know about 426 and will ensure that the rest of the crew - including Meredith - learn nothing about the transmission we've recently discovered until the time is right."

This means they are aware of a signal, and David you would think would have monitored it and depending if he did this prior awakening the Prometheus Crew... then indeed he would have known.

Or if not, you can be sure maybe he would go and investigate after he gets the Juggernaught.

HOWEVER.... we can not Guarantee this as Canon or just a Easter Egg.

I would however say that the Time David spends on LV-223 in Prometheus and he can read the Engineers Writings and by the time he has discovered the Pilot Room and seen how the Ship is Activated.

Then indeed by the time Weyland is awoken, David would surely have a good idea of what was going on with LV-223.

In the opening scenes of Prometheus someone sacrifices himself in a act of creation. This is a GOD event of some kind. Didn't Ridley say that eventually we will meet the big guy.

The Sacrificial Scene is how the Engineers Seed their DNA to kick start Evolution, but this is not the only way they can create life... its how they Choose to do so (Ridley made this point).

He also told us that these Engineers had came back over and over to further Evolve us Genetically and Technologically and so its not a case of Sacrifice Scene --- wait Millions of years and then we get Humans. They came back to further experiment.

Ridley also said the Sacrificial Scene is like those from some Ancient Cultures like the Mayans, where a Sacrifice would be chosen, and they would be treated like a Prince for a Year.  Then they would be Sacrificed as for the greater good of his Tribe/Race for a better Harvest to Appease the GODS.

Which in connection means the Sacrificial Scene and potentially creation of Mankind is important to the Engineers. Sacrifice and the notion of it, is seen as a important part of the Engineer Race and a Honorable one.

The "we did not want to meet God in the first movie" quote was in regards to the removal of the Elders Scene.

This means the Engineers are not the Top of the Hierarchy, they serve a higher Power. Ridley was also disappointed with how the Elders came across... either Aesthetically how they looked.. or maybe because the Scene seemed to paint them as Benevolent

When he has changed his mind to have these beings as Evil...

Because he evolved on that comment by saying that THEY (David and Shaw) are off to the Planet of the Engineers, but these beings they find are not GOD's not in the traditional Sense, and they are far from Benevolent....  But David is bringing Hell with him.

This leaves the Engineers as a servant race, but the Hierarchy could operate in a number of ways as it was open for debate

1) Older more Wiser, Engineers like many Tribal Cultures on Earth... thus bring back the Elders as in Prometheus deleted Scenes.

2) The same Race as Engineers only some are seen as God Kings among the rest... pretty much how say Egyptian Pharaohs are.

3) A completely different Race who created the Engineers, this Race could be Humanoid to, or maybe not.

Since Alien Covenant, we find that it seems the Answer is a combination of 1+2

If you want an idea of what a movie is about, but don't want to see it, this site is great. Tells the whole plot and story of any film. I intend to put there AC spoiler on this site, but not for a few weeks. 

Like other members have posted, it seems like Prometheus was a very big challenge even for Sir Ridley Scott. Prometheus asked so many questions, and opened so many plot doors, it's almost impossible to figure out how everything connects.

Ill see AC this week for the first time. Depending on how I feel I will see it more that once at the plex. I will definitely buy the DVD and the soundtrack ( the soundtrack I did preorder)

Dave, this is all a hobby for me. I love this stuff, and unfortunately, like you, for me I can't deal with unanswered plot points. :)

• Why is there a hole in the side of the pyramid, and who put it there. Very convenient this hole.

• Is there a actual entrance to the pyramid. I never saw one. Eventually David and Shaw find a way into the second pyramid.

This is a interesting one and one we have covered a while back, indeed the Pyramids in Prometheus seem to have only small entrances where the crew walked under, there is no way a 10ft Race could fit under here.

There is another entrance that David uses, as the crew go down to see where Milburn and Fifield are, David stops his ATV and turns around... we can assume he went to another entrance as he made his way to the Hanger but we see not entrances to get underground on the surface..

So its likely David entered via another entrance on the other side of the Pyramid/Dome.

The Answer to your Question is quite simple... these Temple Mounds are Ancient and likely over 35'000 years old... the Moon has serve storms which the Temple Mounds Protect themselves from with the Blast Walls

We can see the Temple Mound has suffered erosion over time much like the Ancient Pyramids of Giza... this is likely due to the Storms.

Here are some screens from the entrance and notice the last one we see a Door that opens up like those Hatches in Alien (where Dallas gets caught by the Xenomorph)... These Doors to the Temples in Prometheus are HUGE like 20ft Tall, yet we only see a portion here, and inside the Temple, we see a lot of ruins and rocks and debris.

But indeed it would appear the entrances are large, but they have over time been buried under Dirt, and Debris, maybe due to the Storms over Thousands of Years.

Maybe since the Outbreak, the Engineers could not maintain what ever means they had to clear this stuff and so a build up over time has buried the Temple Entrances.

Or some other event is to blame... which THIS TOPIC attempted to cover.
