What is the role of Weyland Yutani in Alien Covenant?

That seems to have been highly neglected in Alien Covenant. What benefit does the company get from establishing a colony on Origae 6? Why can the crew over right the original plans without the Company's authorization? Why doesn't captain Oram retrieve David as Weyland Yutani's property? Why Nobody treats David as a robot and try to get information from his memory bank?

Maybe we would see David nursing the newborn and putting it to bed at night, etc. For sustenance maybe it could drink David's milk (no, not THAT kind, lol, although that would be VERY perverse and I am sure Giger himself would approve) that he has flowing through this veins. Maybe even through his nipple? I mean, if they are gonna continue to go crazy with these movies then they might as well go full on bat shit crazy, amirite? Can't really do much more damage to the Alien franchise than what has already been done!
