Tiwaz, I think you may be on to something with your post below (topic).
"I think it's save to assume Shaw is dead. Question is, is the person on the table also Shaw? The person on the table , however, is missing the little pit mark on the nose tip. In my pic the mark is present."
Here is an enhanced pic below of what you posted here.
David 8's drawings of Dr. Shaw above show a ghastly mutation wiping out the bottom of her face.
Was David 8 able to restore her face with additional experimentation or is this person below someone other than Dr. Shaw?

MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 10:48 AMMaybe the drawing is just a concept one I guess, or David has the ability to make a clone of Shaw, but I doubt it.

MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 10:54 AMThe "Prometheus" term suddenly makes me think that it somewhat parallels Shaw's fate - she was "punished" and her organs being "eaten" repeatedly.

MemberPraetorianMay-21-2017 10:55 AMThat is a good point Jonesy in regards to projecting what may happen with a treatment.
When Daniels looked at the drawings and asked David 8 what he did to Dr. Shaw he replied "exactly what I'm going to do to you" and then they fought.
To me, the body in the workshop looked like Dr. Shaw with her eyes closed but the drawings look to me like the result of treatment.
So, the variance from the body on the table and the drawings tends toward more that we haven't seen or considered (myself).

MemberChestbursterMay-21-2017 11:19 AMSince i haven't seen A:C yet my "judgement" is limited to hear say, trailers and pics. Would be interesting if Shaw's corpse is shown up close or in a way that leaves it open for someone who has NOT seen the set-pictures and thus does not know that it is "Shaw".
The story is told in the movies and books, not unused concepts, scripts or set pieces. Not to mention interviews with someone who constantly changes his mind.

MemberPraetorianMay-21-2017 11:29 AMThank you big time for the initial post Tiwaz. I won't spoil it for you any more but even with myself chasing down every spoiler I still have many questions after watching the movie.
This (watching Alien: Covenant) is similar to how it was with Prometheus with obvious important questions not even hinted at as far as an explanation.
Alien: Covenant was over two hours long but I felt like it was half a movie in what it covered in the concepts we discussed from the trailers released.

MemberXenomorphMay-21-2017 11:37 AMI think it's Shaw...... and this is a more or less Ridley killing off ideas fandom didn't want or changing the direction of the film(s).
"You want more facehuggers and big chaps? Okay then... lets kill Shaw and the Engineers...start a new path of destruction.."

MemberChestbursterMay-21-2017 11:37 AMI don't mind being spoilered. I will likely read the novelization first and then watch the movie. If i watch it at all.

MemberFacehuggerMay-21-2017 11:41 AMMaybe he made this drawing before he killed her. He was picturing what he could do to her or something.

MemberChestbursterMay-21-2017 12:18 PMI tihnk Jonesy has something in Shaw becoming another Prometheus metaphor. I am really eager to understand what happened to Shaw. I would prefer to see a movie about Shaw and David, but it looks like Alana Dean Foster will be covering this one of his novels.

MemberPraetorianMay-21-2017 12:38 PMYes Edgy Name, the drawing could most certainly be what David 8 projects what can happen with a certain solution of black goo.
When talking to Captain Oram, David 8 mentioned that there were many different types of the mutagen and the drawings could be his interpretation of what may happen to Dr. Shaw with one of the mutagen (black goo) variations.

MemberPraetorianMay-21-2017 12:42 PMDavid 8 seems to use his access to biology and Engineer technology as a ladder to climb to a lofty goal of wiping out organic life (intelligent) and replacing it with his creation cuponator3000.

That sounds like a tough neighborhood Jonesy.

MemberChestbursterMay-21-2017 1:43 PMI can see what you're at, Jonesy. But I don't know.
Let's not overcomplicate things.
Prometheus stole the fire from the gods and got punished for that.
After having read six of the recent novels i got a hunch that the Prometheus-reference goes in another direction.
- The Engineers are Prometheus
- The Goo is the fire.
- The Engineers were punished and stopped coming to earth (LV-223 incident, 2000 yrs ago)
If so the question is: Who or what are the gods who "punished" the Engineers? I think i know who they are but there is little go by.
As far as I'm aware we still don't know if the ship from the beginning of Prometheus does indeed belong to the engineers.
Like i said this is a hunch based on the movie and the novels. Usually I try not to speculate unless have something solid to point at.

My 2 cents.

MemberOvomorphMay-21-2017 6:08 PMI have a different interpretation Tiwaz. I think the Engineers are the "gods" and in the movie Prometheus the humans are Prometheus, the fire is the ability to create life.
The movie Prometheus is about the transition of the humans from being Prometheus to being the gods. Remember in the deleted scene at the beginning, Peter Wayland says "we are now the Gods" because we can create David.
And that is why the Engineers wished to kill humans, they flew too close to the sun and stole the fire from the gods and created life of their own, explaining the hate they had forDavid himself.
In Covenant, David is now Prometheus, creating his own life.

MemberChestbursterMay-21-2017 7:08 PM@UC Ridley spoke of a larger scope behind it. Usually i'd ignore him. But in this case it would tie in with something from the books (mentioned in 5 out of 6). Another old race. This race is what i base my assumption on. Who else would be powerful enough to stop the engineer's plans for mankind?
And no, they're not Yautja. ;)
