The Engineers Were Watching Us the Entire Time

MemberFacehuggerMay-30-2017 3:32 PMPerhaps, The Engineers were watching us the entire time... how else could they pass judgement upon us as illustrated in Prometheus? More chilling is that they likely watched us from close quarters. We only invented radio in recent history, and our signals wouldn't have been sufficient evidence to wipe us out. Thoughts?

MemberPraetorianMay-30-2017 3:54 PMDo you remember the fact that they had jumped to their cryo chambers on LV-223 2000 years ago? They made their decision then! Zzzzzzzz...

MemberTrilobiteMay-30-2017 9:48 PMThat is an interesting point though. I am no Alien scholar, but I always thought the Engineers went into cryo with a basic plan that- if they make it this far, it is too far. Lights out.

MemberFacehuggerMay-30-2017 10:06 PMThanks for the thoughtful responses. I wonder if we'll ever know as part of the Alien Universe if The Engineers offered guidance to mankind along the way, of if we had to go it alone until a final decisions was made? ..at which time it could be too late by then...

MemberTrilobiteMay-30-2017 10:33 PMIt has been suggested that the guidance may have been Jesus as a possible Engineer- virgin birth, humanity killing him, etc...and the time frame was basically the same. That gets into some pretty deep religious ideas. I like to think we were on our own and got on the Engineer poop list when we showed up on their doorstep with a sense of entitlement and that Engineer decided it is time to shut it down. Besides, who likes getting a wake up call like that without a chance to have a coffee and re orient with a proper wake up?

MemberOvomorphMay-31-2017 9:09 AMThe idea that Jesus was a messenger for the Engineers was explored, but ultimately Scott and the team decided that it was more so a consensus that humans were way, way too violent for an intelligent species.
In fact, Ridley Scott confirmed in an interview that David wiped out the Engineers precisely because they wipe out other species if they "misbehave."
After the LV-223 departure failed, why didn't they send another craft? Well, many have been suggesting that the Engineer in both the sacrificial scene and the ending (in Prometheus) are synthetic. Perhaps, like David, they reverted their creators to antiquity and destroyed their technology. Maybe that is why they have only once city.
