China censors erase xenomorph from movie

It depends on their access to seeing the regular version. I don't know how extensive their internet access is censored over there.

So the entire scene where the protomorph is running outside the ship would be unwatchable I would think. I mean you wouldn't know what the hell Daniels is shooting at.  Also it doesn't make sense it says they censor the Xenomorph and Neomorph's mouth....well of course of if you sensor the Xeno and Neomorph we aren't going to see their mouths....  

All the gore I knew would get cut, but I don't see how the Aliens themselves are offensive. I guess it's lucky at all that Covenant is getting a showing in China.  I'm wondering how this is going to effect it's box office in China.

Hey China - Free Tibet & Free ALIEN: Covenant!

Either this is going to sink China sales or their version will actually be superior as they'll actually get that effect of only seeing flashes of the xeno (one of the things that made the original 2 movies great)

I should note, this could also help sales. The Chinese will censor films primarily to make them suitable for general audiences. That means this is something you can take the whole fam to.

@DK, I was in China and their internet should be open to this info.  If not; they can use a VPN lol.  I could not get google until I VPNed from their hotel room lol.

colonialsoldier In that case I would expect them to be disappointed with the cut. Then again, maybe not since I am not too familiar with the general culture.

If you felt there just wasn’t enough Xenomorph action in Alien: Covenant, just be happy you didn’t see it in China. Ridley Scott’s latest Alien prequel is opening in Chinese theaters on June 16th, but early previews have already proven to be disastrous.

Fans who attended are reporting that a whopping SIX MINUTES have been excised from the film for its China release, and the heavily censored edit has been described as a complete and total “castration.” As reported by The Beijinger, the Chinese version of Alien: Covenant has virtually no gore and little to no monster action.

 We have to hope 60 million from these three countries.

I am sold! I want to pre order the Chinese version in glorious VHS with English subtitles!
