Nice essay on the parallels and use of classic literature in Alien Covenant.

MemberChestbursterJun-19-2017 4:18 PMThe estimates I am seeing on the usual sources all say August, which I don't believe. Officially, no release date has been announced.

MemberChestbursterJun-19-2017 4:44 PMI can't wait to see all the extras and the Director's commentary. Hopefully it addresses the whole "not wearing suits" thing. In the Collector's guide it said cuz there was oxygen and that the atmosphere readings were so good but I wonder if Ridley anticipated so much backlash from that since it seems to be one of the main contentions. I personally don't mind, I mean, the atmosphere read better than Origae-6.

MemberChestbursterJun-20-2017 12:30 PMif all the readings are ok then i accept it is ok to venture outside - no story/logic issue
Besides Walter goes out first and informs the crew it is safe. He even says there are no pathogens in the air!

MemberChestbursterJun-20-2017 12:41 PMThe novel also explains why he did not detect those pathogens.
It would not have hurt to have that stuff in the movie, but unnecessary, as I assumed they had already done all this with probes before landing just after landing. I don't need to see every little sci-fi trope spoon fed on screen.
