MemberChestbursterJul-15-2017 11:37 PMSo. i heard that the next alien movie will take place in between prometheous and alien covenant but it seems as if it will pick up right were covenant left off judging from the ending to that movie. if anyone has heard a definitive answer please tell me in the comments. thanks. I personaly hope it picks off right were covenant ended because it might answer our many theorys about the planet their headed to . origea 6. also, i just cant really think of a whole movie just on how david took over and killed shaw.

MemberChestbursterJul-16-2017 9:08 AMThere was an interview a long time ago where Ridley said the timeline is: Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant, but Katherine Wtaerson stopped him (she basically yelled when she said, "You're saying too much!").
I don't think that this is the case though. Maybe they were planning to bounce back at one point, but I think they will have to keep going forward in the timeline to keep general audiences.
One thing that I would HOPE is if they literally shot, like, back-to-back or even simultaneously, a movie of David and Shaw on Planet 4 (Prometheus 2. That one could be called Awakening) and the sequel to Covenant. There is almost no way that will happen, but yeah.

MemberChestbursterJul-16-2017 10:16 AMEverything Ridley has said about the next one indicates it will follow Covenant. He said it will involve religion and be about the colonists and what happens when they get to the planet. He said they will evolve and form a new world, and that it will show how the colony disintegrates.
He also said the Engineers will arrive back at planet 4 and find it decimated. They are one of "3-4 players" will arrive there to investigate. He also said he was heading into "War of the Worlds", which could mean mankind goes to war with the Engineers.
I'm guessing the "religious" element is David setting himself up as a "god" and wanting the colonists to worship him. One of the "players" that goes to planet 4 is possibly Weyland -Yutani.

MemberChestbursterJul-16-2017 12:42 PMcuponator3000: a possibility for the next alien movie that would be similar to your idea and a bit more pausible is if the prequal and the sequel happen in the same movie cutting between each other throught the movie filling things in for the audience. one example of this writing technique is in the movie the godfather part 2. it is a sequel to the godfather by continueing from were part one left of but in-between scenes it shows an origin story of the main character of part one. this could work in alien awakening because i dont think that davids taking over and killing shaw would take up a whole movie and if that story was just taking up about a third of the film answering some questions while telling a story rather than the whole movie just being a giant exposition scene.

MemberOvomorphJul-16-2017 1:50 PMI want a movie with David and Shaw where we also understant how really created (if he really did) the xeno. But that movie I am 99% sure will kill the Alien Precuels. Because only a few people want it. Awakening can take 3 lines. 1 pure precuel of Covenant. No more films.
2 A secuel of Covenant but with moments of David remembering what happened to Shaw and that things. Well made could be a Wonderful movie, but I am sure that people will not like it. I can see the critics "Wonderful movie except for David remembering everytime what happened, makes the movie slow and confusing"
3 a pure Alien Covenant secuel, well made, with nice marketing and word of mouth could be the film that let the people forget the failed Prometheus and trust Scott again.

MemberChestbursterJul-16-2017 4:32 PMTimmy the ultramorph, ohh I like that! Sort of flashback storytelling. Doesn't always work when done a lot, but it could! Hahah really, I'm game for almost anyway that we can get Shaw and David after Prometheusas a movie!

MemberDeaconJul-16-2017 6:18 PMRidley Scott gets confused at times, and so his interview comments have to be taken lightly at times.
As he did indeed hint that Alien: Awakening happens between Prometheus and Alien Covenant...
However after this interview he had made two more which Kethol had pointed out the latest one to surface suggests that we will get a sequel to Alien Covenant. The one prior to this RS again hinted the movies next will lead directly and chronologically to Alien. And so no Prequels... it will continue in a direct Line to Alien.
There are a few contradictions because the previous one, he mentioned how they will continue to Alien and only take One Thread... one line of Thread and thats about HIM (The Alien) and it will not be a Prequel, or Parallel story but a continues Story that drives into the back end of Alien. This Interview did make me worry we wont see the Engineers.
But as Kethol mentions the last interview to surface indeed RS has mentioned they will be one of 3-4 Parties to arrive.
RS comments also seem to indicate they will be going to the Colony and that Planet... we can only assume Origae-6 and that now RS is going for this Place Already having some Colony Set up...but maybe this is me misinterpreting his comments.
As i thought AC and the Back Ground to it did set up that Origae-6 was presently not inhabited yet... The ADF Prequel Novel that comes out September i think? Should clear this up and give us a back ground into the Covenant Mission, and maybe hint at what other interested parties there may be.

MemberDeaconJul-16-2017 6:21 PMI think a lot of us are disappointed we will never get the answers to what happened between David and Shaw at the end of Prometheus and right until the events of Alien Covenant. The Crossing Prologue gave us a little insight, but i dont feel this would ever be expanded upon. And if enough Pressure was applied.. i think RS will just make some comments to give us some answers or at best FOX may commission a Prequel The Crossing Novel... but i think this Chapter in Davids Journey will not be explored on Film.... but he may give some clues in the next movie.

MemberFacehuggerJul-16-2017 6:51 PM@BigDave, your right mate, 'The Crossing'(expanded) should have been the first cab off the rank after the opening title(my opinion) then jump to onboard the covenant.

MemberDeaconJul-16-2017 7:27 PMI think in part it was considered for AC in a Edited way, but as with a number of other scenes they had to cut out to get the movie down to a 2 hour run time or there abouts.
