AVP Galaxy Poll: Covenant 2 or Alien 5
joylitt
MemberNeomorphAug-08-2017 4:52 PMAVP Galaxy is polling their users with this question: What Film would you rather see. 1) Covenant 2 by Ridley Scott Or 2) Alien 5 by Neil Blomkamp.
With 3731 votes so far, results are: Alien Covenant 2: 52 %; Alien 5: 48 %
These results show how divided the alien fanbase is at this point, and probably reflects more of a Covenant backlash than a passionate support to a Blomkamp film. In any case, I was rather surprised by these percentages, I would have predicted maybe a 30% of support to the Blomkamp project.

MemberPraetorianAug-08-2017 5:41 PMI would like to see RS get his chance to wrap up his prequels, they cant leave it hanging like that between covenant and Alien. Though Fox really need to loosen the reins and let RS fulfil his vision and tell his story.
That being said, I think once its done they should move quickly on with a new direction, something grand and massive in scope for the franchise. And I don't think Blomkamp's previous vision is it, though Id be happy if he did get a shot at an Alien film.
As I much as I love all three actors they are about 10 years too late (at least) for Blomkamps idea, and digital de-aging seems like a wasted idea. Admittedly Weaver has aged very finely, but they really need to move on from those characters.

MemberPraetorianAug-08-2017 5:48 PMHow about this Ati, duel male/female leads for the next direction. They can be called Hiddlehoff XD

MemberPraetorianAug-08-2017 7:31 PMIRaptus - Not bad! You hit the target. She is awesome in the Riddick uni. Where is the new Riddick movie? I want it now!
My sequel includes Olga and Theo, should I call them Jamesylenko? :)

MemberFacehuggerAug-09-2017 5:53 AMI don't have faith in Ridley Scott to do a decent job anymore.
Covenant 2 would be my choice, with a different director

MemberXenomorphAug-09-2017 6:01 AMI don't trust Blomkamp...I'd have to see a synopses of Alien5....I don't want a Evil corp movie and that, I fear, is what we''ll get.

MemberChestbursterAug-09-2017 11:22 AMsorry but AC2 sounds a million times more interesting than "Alien 5". I wouldn't mind getting a new "postquel' at some point, but Blomkamp's treatment is not appealing to me, NOR do I want to see ANY more Ripley. If the Beast is cooked, then Ripley is charcoal...

MemberOvomorphAug-09-2017 3:32 PMTom Hiddlestone should be nowhere near an Alien movie, he's a crap actor.
Ridley Scott should be allowed to finish his prequels.
20th Century Fox: Show the man some respect!

MemberNeomorphAug-14-2017 9:23 AMAlien Covenant 2 seems more interesting than Alien 5 even though AC was flawed. Ripley was over after Alien 3 so let it be. Having a fan base that is divided is not a problem for me, what would be strange is if all would prefer the same movies of a franchise that has been around for almost 40 years.
Ridley and Fox, well maybe but they got to stop this focus on AI because it reduces the human characters to some background kind of thing. I am not interested in an Alien 5 movie at all.
“If the Beast is cooked, then Ripley is charcoal...”
LOL! F-ing right about that, no doubt.

AdminEngineerAug-14-2017 9:30 AMThe poll is slightly biased considering the population over there are heavily supportive of Blomkamp and his Alien 5. If I were to place the same poll here we'd likely have 80% for Covenant 2 and 30% for Alien 5. Different communities draw different tangents of the fan base so I wouldn't assume the poll is representing the entire Alien fandom. I'm all for more Alien films but couldn't care less if Alien 5 ever gets made. I want the Prometheus angle explored more.
