Deep dark….
Title comes up…. (Working on the title)
As the camera adjusts we see dots. Like little fire flies at night. Yet these don’t move. Its like a black curtain with tiny holes that the light can escape through, thought they are not right. We can sense that something is blocking out some of these tiny lights in the black canvas.
Camera pans…
As it pans more light is added yet not from any star. This is a planet. We recognise it. Planet 4. The hellhole that once was paradise spins, not giving away any of its hidden horror.
We now get to see what was blocking out the stars though featurless, the light from the planet making it just a silhouette. A ship. Tear drop in shape but massive in size comes into view above the planet. Even though we have no idea of scale at this point we have no doubt this is huge. From tip to tail it would dwarf Everest from base to peak. It starts to descend to the planet.
Surface. Quiet…..
Camera. Looking skyward through the tree tops….
Nothing stirs, even as this colossal mass of technology floats over the trees. The leaves and branches don’t even move that would suggest any turbulence created by the massive ship passing over head.
Looking over the citadel we see its shadow increase as it slides over the Romanesque dwelling. Its stops moving and hangs there, still. Now we get to see it. As smooth looking as the most expensive of polished pearls. Only the ‘nose’ of the magnificent giant is all is required to blot out the sun. a few moments pass and then we see from the underside of the vessel something stirs. A movement. Mechanical but may as well be liquid in the way it moves, creating an opening though we cannot see inside. Then, a beam emits from the opening downward toward the ground below. Only way we can describe this beam is if you were to look through it side on it would look like the haze of a mirage on a hot day. A platform descends, with 6 cloaked and hooded beings atop. We follow its descent and gauge its probably doing 20 meters per second. The vessel is 300 meters above the city.
Touchdown…..
The beings dismount the platform and survey the scene that welcomes them. The front being removes his hood. An engineer. But not just any. This is an elder. Older than mankind itself. His expression awash with sadness and sorrow. Their Eden. Their perfect children, those who had followed and devoted themselves fully. The chosen ones. GONE. Now anger seeps in. who had done this?
We hear something. More mechanical in nature than the tear drop ship above. The hanger opening. This startles the elders yet nothing emerges from the huge gape in the ground. This must mean someone is not leaving, someone has arrived.
Outskirts…
A juggernaut sits still, landed minutes ago. We see several dozen humanoid shapes make their way towards the citadel. They enter the citadel and they quickly fan out, both a strategic and defensive manoeuvre, the kind of manoeuvre soldiers would make in the times of the Caesars. They are in the prior seen bio-mechanical suits but something is different. Some form of mechanism covers their lower arm, from elbow and encasing the hand.
We see him. Huge, at least 12 feet tall and as wide a barn door. Dressed in the same suit as the others but greyer in colour. He also has a strange mechanism on one of his arms but it appears to cover his upper arm, elbow to over shoulder. The elder is not pleased. These 2 know each other well and this is not the time or place for these 2 to rehash old arguments. This is THE MAN, (the general) The military authority of the engineers. Charged with defending his kind against all who would threaten their way, foreign or within. He’s here personally as is the elder to see why their flock have not stirred for a while. His soldiers disperse leaving just the general with the elders.
Conversation between the 2 will start in engineer dialogue but meld into English……
General….. They warned you. I WARNED YOU. Your arrogance has done this
Elder cuts him off elder… And where were you? We charged YOU with cleansing that planet and you failed. You failed
General….. you were told seeding a world so far away would not work. They were too far that you couldn’t teach them, guide them, and left for so long they shamed us all. This was your doing.
From a distance, eyes watch the 2 in heated debate though getting closer. We approach the 2 and pan to see an engineer soldier drag something and throw it at the generals feet like a rag doll. WALTER. Functioning yet damaged.
General…. Where did you find ‘this’?
Soldier…. Over there by one of the chosen ones gardens sir
The general leans down and with 1 hand lifts Walter by his good arm.
To his astonishment, it speaks, and the general can understand him.
Walter…. Hello, we… I am Walter
General…. How did you get here?
Walter…. I arrived on the earth vessel covenant
General…. I can see you are not one of our progeny, what are you?
Walter…. I am an synthetic created by those whom you created on a far off world
General looks over at the elder scornfully
General…. What was your porpuse here?
Walter…. we were lured here by a predecessor of mine. We were a colony ship bound for another planet to colonise it.
General…. And where is this ‘predecessor’ of yours now?
Walter…. he disguised himself as me and left with the survivors. Where I can not say but I can calculate his probable course
A scream.
Everyone looks in its direction to see one of the soldiers as he is ambushed by some creature, pale in colour, tall with a long tail. The engineer never stood a chance as he is bitten and slashed to pieces in front of them, 100 meters away. The general barks at the rest of his subordinates and drops Walter. HE will deal with this. With a swift jerk of his left arm the mechanism comes to life and quickly engulfs the lower portion of his arm, elbow to fist. He bounds off toward the beast, fast. Usain Bolt would be proud. He covers the distance in no time and the creature only has a split second to react to the huge battle hardened combatant. It rises only to be instantly grabbed by the throat and lifted. The general lifts the neomorph eye ball to ‘eye ball’. The thing is furious yet has no idea the trouble its in. the engineer it took down so easily was no novice. He was thousands of years old and in our perspective, was the equivalent of seasoned vet in the marines who had joined up when he was 16 and was now approaching 30. He had been taken by surprise. This one though came looking for a fight.
The neomorph clawed the generals right shoulder deep, deep enough it cut right through the bio-mechanical suit and into flesh. Its tail slashed at the generals face, slicing his left cheek, yet the huge commander didn’t flinch. The general raises his weaponised fist to the creatures midsection and with a swift move he blasts the neomorph 50 feet away. The creature is down but not dead. The general paces cautiously over to where it came to a stop. He isn’t stupid. He didn’t get to the age or position he did by being stupid and under estimating an opponent. He stops and takes aim, this time at the head of this ‘thing’. BOOM. The head is no more and neither is the neomorph.
General….ABOMINATION …. Take it back to the command ship, I need to know what this is. And bring that thing as well, it will help us track down those responsible for this atrocity and then they will all pay
The general turns to walk back to where the elder has witnessed his triumph. As he walk with a swagger, though certainly not over cocky rather one that has seeped into his general walk over millennia of victories, we see the wounds on the shoulder. The bio-mechanical suit is healing the deep gauges and re-meshing together. The suit then starts to extend itself from the left shoulder portion of the suit, like veins. It covers the full left side of his cheek and after a few moments, slithers back to its normal form. There is no sign of the cut inflicted by the tail. There is no sign this dude has been in a scrap at all. With a cock of his arm the mechanism retracts back to its original position on his arm, goes dormant. The general storms over to the elder and in the blink of an eye he grabs him by the throat and lifts him high in the air. Not eye to eye, no he isn’t going to show this bastard that level of respect, but so high the elders feet are easily 6 feet off the ground. He could snap his neck and be back on his ship before he even hit the deck. But he pauses a moment. Looks above…
No human eye could see that far and that clearly but the engineers have amazing sight, much more evolved than us meek humans. The tear drop ship. There is light in the opening the elders descended from and there are figures standing there. We cant see but he can. Their watching him, waiting to see his next move. He slowly lowers the elder. He leans his head down the 4 feet required to come face to face with the elder and scorns
General…. I WILL CLEANSE YOUR MISTAKE AND PUNISH THOSE RESPONSIBLE MY WAY. Tell ‘them’ I will not fail and they will have their answers. Now go and we will wash this planet clean of your creations stench

MemberPraetorianAug-17-2017 2:51 PMali81 great work! I could really see that being the prologue to Awakening. Upvoted!

MemberNeomorphAug-17-2017 3:13 PMiraptus, thanks. I had prologue/ opening scene in mind. this way we see the engineers motives for chasing david and being a part of awakening. I also tried to put some strength into the engineers yet keep the danger element in the neomorph. its not really a threat but if it stalks and ambushes it can take an engineer down. the general was definitely an attempt to make the engineers feared as well. I thought Prometheus and covenant showed them in a not so strong species light

MemberXenomorphAug-17-2017 3:20 PMVery cool!
I think it works well.
Love that Walter is alive!

MemberPraetorianAug-17-2017 3:20 PMYeah totally agree and I think we will see the Engineers on the offensive in Awakening.
They're copped David's genocide, the loss of at least 3 ships (2 juggernauts and a scorpion-tail mothership) and the abominations of a Deacon and Neomorphs due to human tampering.
They'll come with the thunder

MemberNeomorphAug-17-2017 3:26 PMmonster, thanks. I think walter should survive and the fact he reactivated after davids first attack shows he is capable of surviving.
iraptus, yea theyr gna be mighty pissed. the neomorph is an abomination I think but what about the deacon? resembles the mural which also depicts what I think are engineers giving birth to them, would it be viewed as an abomination u think?

MemberXenomorphAug-17-2017 4:04 PMHow does one get revenge on a synth?
Can David be killed? Wonder if he has back up bodies on Earth/Mars. His 'Soul' is probably uploaded. The Engineers might think they killed him(after catching the Covenant).....Best the Engineers destroy the Covenant and then Earth.
I'd probably have Walter kill the general...Protecting Earth and maybe his wayward brother?
So many plots to be written!

MemberNeomorphAug-17-2017 4:22 PMur so right monster my man. Prometheus opened the universe right up. the general is going after the covenant then he plans to go to earth and finish the job he was tasked with.
ali81
MemberNeomorphAug-17-2017 4:32 PMI don't think there are anymore blank versions of david or any active ones for him to download himself into so I think he can be destroyed. remember a typical engineer just twisted and popped his head off with little effort
ali81
MemberNeomorphAug-17-2017 4:34 PMplus their vengeance isn't aimed solely at david, his creators and the humans on the covenant will also pay

MemberPraetorianAug-17-2017 5:05 PMali81 I I imagine the Engineers see the Deacon Organism as either an Abomination, or with holy reverence (religious sacrifice?).
In either case, human intervention/meddling would only piss them off.

MemberPraetorianAug-17-2017 5:09 PMI think you found a great balance between making the Neomorph threatening, whilst also showing the power and strength of the Engineers - particularly a Warlord/Commander.
I think the true strength of the Neomorphs is in their ability to rapidly multiply and overwhelm any prey in its environment with violence and chaos.

MemberPraetorianAug-18-2017 12:37 AMVery nice, you have a really good idea regarding the Engineers, I like it, and your ideas are logical as well as very creative, and your descriptive ability is quite satisfying!
IN SPACE THERE IS NO WARNING

MemberNeomorphAug-18-2017 7:40 AMiraptus, yea the neomorph much like the xenomorph would def be strongest in a 'swarm' as u say, like in aliens although JC did show that any individual xeno could be killed just as easily as any human given the right equipment, they were still extremely dangerous once there was a large number of the to overwhelm an enemy esp in closed quarters such as a facility.
awe thanks blackwater, was my first try and as I said I had more but thought I needed to reign it in a bit as I didn't want it to be too long.
