MemberPraetorianFeb-13-2019 11:14 AM"For "Sweet Notes," Scott crafted a world similar to Dune with explorers discovering the gift of honey; "Rising Heat" is shaped as a hot desert like John Carter of Mars with giant Prometheus-like statues walking alongside a humanoid race; "Spicy Edge" focuses on alien technology in a chamber that looks straight from the Alien franchise that's being used to create a woman via colorful spices; while "Flowing Flame" deals with an advanced species of human navigating an aircraft over what seems to be an exploding volcano in a scene that looks pulled from his take on The Martian." MemberDeaconFeb-13-2019 5:20 PMVery Jean Giraud (Moebius) feel to this...
I think its well done.. i cant help but notice some themes that could connect to the Alien Prequels... both in context to what may have came in the past and what may come in the Future... (or had done).
But that could be me reading into it too much!
I have to get back and give a detailed explanation of what i interpret from this... But ALAS... its just a Advert. I cant help but read into it showing the Engineers/Their Creators History and Sub-Creation and Down-Fall due to this.

MemberPraetorianFeb-14-2019 6:54 AMBeautiful, takes your breath away! Thanks for posting Ingeniero
Ridley is definitely channeling Moebius there, I'm seeing Arzak & Edena in particular. The giants (Master Burg) & giant foot, floating rocks, all Moebius. As we know, ALIEN, BladeRunner, Prometheus & Covenant are filled with Moebius touches.
Interestingly, Le Monde d'Edena grew out of a commercial Moebius designed for Citroen.
I've always thought how wonderful it would be if Ridley made a movie from one of Moebius's graphic works. Perhaps this ad will open him up to that idea. A match made in heaven me thinks.

MemberPraetorianFeb-14-2019 7:46 PMYou are most welcome Lone.
The images you selected are almost a perfect match to sections of The Seven Worlds. And I love Moebius' work.
The image below was represented in concept in Prometheus with the LV-223 mural but you nailed it with the examples above.
"But that could be me reading into it too much!"
That's poppycock! Never BigDave...please always read into it too much. I believe that is a characteristic welcome in this universe.

MemberTrilobiteFeb-14-2019 10:12 PMLooks really interesting- it was not on my radar. The giants recall the Titans from God of War based off Greek mythology.

MemberDeaconFeb-15-2019 4:10 AMCertainly is a lot of Moebius influences in Ridley Scotts work.. i have not got any of his books etc... i passed on them as i cant read French lol
I will have to Invest time in the study of Moebius Works... hopefully in context of a Translation so i can understand the ideas behind his stories... because if RS is using the Artistic Aesthetic for his Movies... maybe he is also basing his Ideas of the Actual Story/Plot behind a lot of Moebius stuff...
Maybe his works could act as a Rosetta Stone to what RS was going for.
@Ingeniero
I have not seen that Mural before.. so i can only go by what that image shows..
To me there is a lot of Books by it, which to me is suggesting Knowledge. We also see Androids/Robots that are Destroyed and the one type i have seen in various Moebius Works which have that Space Jockey Influence about them... maybe implying the Space Jockey are a Sub-Creation meant to Serve, and maybe in some Security/Military and Controlling Role.
What looks like Spray Paint indicates this Mural was Created as a Indication of something GOOD that has came from the Destruction of those Androids is this a depiction of another Artificially Created being? I have to study this Moebius piece more for that.
I will add a main theory i had when drawn from Prometheus and the Fresco and Mural was some Punishment sent to those Engineers, that then from this Punishment, the Deacon was seen as some Good/Benefit from the Punishment.
The Source i had regarding Prometheus 2, had indicated that the Engineers were more closer to David than us, and that the Xenomorph had more to do with Mankind, and also that the Xenomorph/Deacon was seen as a Freedom from Bondage and so considering they said Mankind is the 5th Generation of our Kind in context to Modern Man..
Could that mean a Humanoid or Earlier Human Race created Engineers, then decided to Punish/Destroy them... and from this intended Destruction... the Surviving Engineers saw the Punishment as a Escape from Servitude due to the Effects of them becoming Deacons... which they could then use to their Advantage?
Who knows, as these Rumors/Leaks are not Proven.. and are based of what ever the Engineers were intended for prior to Alien Covenant.
I do find these early concepts for Alien Covenant interesting though, one by Steve Messing, the other by Wayne Haag

MemberPraetorianFeb-15-2019 4:14 AMYou can't stifle creativity, the end result is never going to work on the level it should.
I think Ridley is showing off here. He's giving Fox the finger, f**k you, you shafted me, this is what I can do, this is the quality of work you could have had, if you'd allowed me the freedom.
Plus, he's telling Disney this is the level of creativity they could have, rather than a run-of-the-mill, safe, boring or repetitive (Ripley) ALIEN sequel.
I was really worried that Ridley's spirit had been broken, his interest in Sci-fi perhaps lessened. But this four minute & six second mini-movie has put my mind at ease.

MemberPraetorianFeb-15-2019 10:30 AMI was referencing the David Levy Prometheus concept art above BigDave. The similarities in-between the Moebius face on the wall and the Levy concept art were easy to see in my opinion.
Then came the hall of heads in Alien: Covenant. I thought the concept art was great for both films...especially the Wayne Haag, above. And I thought the opening to the temple was very interesting in regards to the meaning of the word Advent.

MemberNeomorphFeb-20-2019 8:36 AMThis is my interpretation
Honey, goo what everything is made of.
Giant, the Engineers that made humans that walk under it
Cloaked persons, could be the Engineers and the bigger ones are those above them
Spicy edge starts with what could be a space ship.
Chocolate full, could be when the first human started to walk on earth, tastes something, means that he is about to start to learn things. The first step into knowledge. I could be totally wrong, but this is what it looks like.
Wood crunches: Nature, a higher state of the planet is created.
Infinite echo: The things that looks like a giant reminds me of the Engineers, so maybe that is a way to say that the Engineers were behind our existence.

MemberChestbursterFeb-20-2019 2:18 PMWhilst my interest in more discussion is entirely played out there is always the possibility of some useful intel arriving here so I am pleased I looked in.
I found this sequence utterly compelling and very moving for which grateful thanks for the "ERKO". if you make a linear interpretation of the sequence it is entirely clear the subliminal message that Ridley is offering. One can wonder whether you are projecting on to the material but this plays out discovery, ritual symbiosis, sub creation, destruction (and survival), spiritual questing, rebirth and revelation.
Given Ridley is a visual artist to dismiss the shape of the Pyramid, Identical to one I visited four months ago, the female explorer, the liquid, the bowl, the symbiotic procession, the sub creative image followed by destruction and survival by a male and a female with the characteristic breathing suits and then finally the shape of Calpomos, the framing under the rock, identical to the Prometheus shot and the face on the rock with the man of the spirit finding the truth in the next few frames seems to be obstinate denial when the truth is staring one in the face.
I am profoundly moved not least because the outcome is so joyous and the greatest of many curved balls the latter which we are free to offer when we dare to dream. Ridley is right to quote a derivation of Fred Barnard but it is also true that less is more both visually, verbally and on the page, and how fitting this is intended to draw attention to X O Hennessy and not X..O.

MemberDeaconFeb-21-2019 5:02 AMBehind the Scenes Hennessy The Seven Worlds
Above is a longer behind the Scenes look at the Project.
What this whole Advert shows is that RS still has a lot of Creative Vision as far as Creating Wonderful Scenes. And its a MASSIVE shame that with Prometheus, Fans expected it to be too much connected to ALIEN even though that Franchise was limited to Scary Alien Monsters hiding in the Shadows of Ships/Space Stations or on Confined Outposts.
The Prometheus Plot of the Engineers and Creation, opened up the potential to explore MANY worlds that each may have a different look to them... and allow for some Spectacular Visuals. We could have had these explored to in a return to Planet 4, or Origae-6.
A lot of Critics of RS Prequels.. expect us to have been taken to LV-426 again instead... where we see Humans being chased around a Dark Baron World by the Xenomorph!
Sorry for going OFF-TOPIC... i will add looking at the work RS has made here with this Advert, i am really interested in WHAT KIND of a World his TV Series Raised by Wolves will be set on. And with a lot of Freedom i think we could be in for some Visually Wonderful Scenes.

MemberPraetorianMar-06-2019 8:14 AMThank you Michelle Johnston for looking in. You're most welcome anytime. The advertisement is a real treat for me too because I focus so much on the visual interpretation....ah, you know why obviously...it's great!
It follows you dk! What a gift...it's like a work of art tapping you on the shoulder...

MemberPraetorianMar-15-2019 8:05 AMThat is a great interpretation Thoughts_Dreams.
The short film evolves through each world and your Infinite Echo interpretation, to me, nails the concept of Prometheus Engineers.
But...
"Who created them?"
Excellent, thank you.

MemberXenomorphMar-15-2019 10:38 PMI found a recent Ridley Scott interview from an event hosted by LVMH (H stands for Hennessy) on March 14, at the Elysées Biarritz cinema auditorium in Paris. Not a word about "Raised by Wolves" or his further involvement in the alien franchise, but I love how he said he didn't get away with anything (I wonder what was that), even with the XO ad.
“They sent me a script which was interesting, because it gave me an opportunity to do my thing with their thing. I was not to know that they were really a tough bunch of sons-of-bitches, so I really didn’t get away with anything, but that said, coming to the table, I like people who are strong,” he said.
“Gradually, little by little, we came up with something, I think, in advertising terms, pretty unique,” Scott added.
