MemberNeomorphMay-28-2017 8:33 AMI love how these pieces resemble the anatomy studies by Leonardo da Vinci, which perfectly expresses how twisted David really is!

MemberOvomorphMay-28-2017 12:21 PMShaw turns around after all her travail, trusts David, and boom...he does something worse to her than the Holloway "infernal conception."
Shaw is with Hicks and Newt in Last-Minute-Redshirt Heaven.
I would like to see Dr. Phil grill Ridley Scott. Do an "intervention."
"I'm asking you, DO YOU NOT CARE about your characters?"
"OK. WHEN did Alien become Blade Runner. Because...if you ask me...that's what's going on here. And I don't think it's a healthy way to go."
"Look, I'm giving you advice. Whether you follow it is up to you. I mean, I ain't got no Dog Alien in this fight."
"David. Why. ... Well, the Alien movies are known for strong female leads, and...you just kill off Elizabeth Shaw. She was on a quest you made a real big deal of and you just dumped it like a one-night girlfriend. And lo and behold, here comes an American girl just like Eileen [sic] Ripley. But it's still all about David. And I...see nothing in him. I mean, he's a homicidal jerk, if you want to know how I really feel. He just kills Shaw. No explanation. We've got these great monsters for villains, and these real ambiguous new Engineer guys, but...suddenly David is the star. The villain. The cliche Bad A.I. He's the whole movie. He OWNS this franchise now. Michael Fassbender has put Sigourney Weaver in the shadows."
(Silence)
"Do you love him?"

MemberPraetorianMay-28-2017 12:28 PMI found it very frustrating that we barely got to see the vast amount of incredible artwork and prosthetic specimens on show in David's lab.
All that beautiful detailed work and most of it was barely glimpsed or never shown.

MemberPraetorianMay-28-2017 1:45 PMI've long been of the thought that there should be a Museum devoted to the Concept art and related materials for films, as we see here, such beautifully done work, it's a crime to leave it in the shadows of 'might have been'.

MemberOvomorphMay-28-2017 10:52 PM20th Century Fox and Ridley have completely lost it.
All the movies before and after Alien are a whole other animal and they're just pure pap.
It would have been terrifying to have a strange Gigeresque world, but now things are just too mundane. Skies, mountains, large humanoid people that don't look very alieny. The robot David being the focal point now is just all so incredibly MUNDANE AND NOT SCARY OR BIZARRE! I have given up all hope and have resolved that Alien is a stand alone film without sequels or prequels. Those other movies are simply what they are- OTHER FILMS. They are not scary nor are they interesting enough to be associated with Giger's world. The Space Jockey will always be a strange elephantine creature welded to the seat in the abstract Juggernaut space craft. The Alien monster will always be of unknown origin. What Fox and Ridley have decided to do with this bastardized franchise is just so God-aweful boring and stupid, it BOGGLES THE MIND! Seriously! Who cares about dissecting the xenomorph! We know enough, so LETS MOVE ON ALREADY! There is a large and scary Giger world to explore and we haven't even scratched the surface!
If you hope the next film is going to save this mess...

MemberOvomorphMay-29-2017 12:03 AMI simply love this insight. Thank goodness that Matt put these out there for us to drool over. His works were part of the lab wall sketches and he was instructed to do them non-digitally eg pencil and charcoal, as David was only able to work with what was readily available on Paradise.
His co-artst buddy Dane Hallet had some of his works featured too & his work adorns the cover of The Art and Making of Alien: Covenant. I would love to see him get some of his stuff out there on Instagram too!
The book is reportedly to die for. I will look forward to dribbling over this book one day soon!

Interesting concepts and indeed that one Worm looks like the alternative Face Hugger from Blomkamps Alien Awakening.

MemberOvomorphMay-30-2017 2:50 AMThese are amazing! What is this book mentioned that these artworks will be / are in?

MemberFacehuggerMay-30-2017 8:06 AMI recently received the art and making of Covenant book and very few of these drawings were detailed in the pages. It would be cool to see a book that contains all of the studies that David had.

MemberOvomorphMay-30-2017 2:11 PMDavid is Josef Mengele. He's a bastard and a murderer. And this is more terrible than all xenomorphs.
