At least Cameron will keep busy with Avatar until 2027, so forget about Aliens 2. That's the good news.
Wait a minute, they planned Avatar films until 2027?
What a bunch of morons!
LMAO
Who can tell what happened to the chestburster/xenomorph that killed Jorden.
Or where did they get the facehuggers in the Hadley's Hope lab from? The derelict? And one of them was surgically removed from a host, really?
How did the xenomorphs captured all the colonists alive for hosts?
How many colonists were used as hosts and how many xenomorphs were there?
Why were colonists still alive when Sulaco arrived on LV426? Would the xenomorphs risk to have the potential hosts die of old age or of starvation, especially when there was a queen laying eggs?
What were the xenomorphs doing since all the colonists were captured? Hibernating? Keeping busy with architecture? Why would they build such a fantastic nest if the hosts were so limited in supply?
How come they got everyone but they missed Newt?
Why did they run against the bullets? Even a cockroach has an instinct of survival. Why did the xenomorph stopped being a survivor? Because there was an egg laying queen that could replaced them? Like, how many were killed, two hundreds, ok, two hundreds eggs more. No more hosts? Oh, shit.
If Disney spent the time on the story and kept close to the cannon then there's hope. But I'm honestly not surprised with no announcement just disappointed.
Avatar is a "revered franchise"?
That's news to me!
“So why is Aliens picked on by a certain subset of fans these days?”
Aliens is alright but now it feels like more of an action movie. Alien 3 and 1 have more of the horror thing with people being left alone to battle an enemy that they are not equipped to handle.
I like egg-morphing better since it is more unknown although the queen isn’t a disaster. Cameron did alright with the queen but it could have been better. Aliens is a movie that I have not watched in a long time but I go back to alien and Alien 3 and watch them a bit now and then, they are made in a way that suits me better.
Interesting, I like how they colored them. I like to read about historical content behind making the movie or what ever to call it.
What if...
I have mentioned before my theory that Jordens may have discovered a different set of eggs than that which Kane found. What if the Jordens discovered a lab in the Juggernauts "hammer" arm within which was the Queen and some of her eggs - a variant created by the space jockey before his death (possibly too the cause), that crossed the DNA of the eggs in his cargo hold with that of an insect.
Gavin:
“always discuss/debate the topic, never the individual.”
I agree, I don’t see what it brings to the discussion about having it about another board member anyways, if that is what you mean.
As far as Shaw is concerned I think that she was a lot better in the Crossing than in Prometheus. I have seen her in at least two other movies where she was better as a character. I think that the script and how her character was written is to blame, not Noomi as an actress. This could also be that there were parts that were cut out that probably should have stayed in the movie. To resurrect her could work if it is a well-written script and if she understand what her characters is supposed to be like. I am not a huge fan of that but if they would do that then I think that is needed for it to work, and yeah don’t cut out pieces that should be in the movie for the reason of pacing. Character-development is more important than pacing and if all parts of the movie don’t get there then at least we have the characters being better and that is what is important to me.
You mention that she would learn what David did to her. What if she tries to get revenge on David? That is probably a theme that has been covered a lot of times before but maybe it would work for the movie? The fucking android has got to die sooner or later.
You mention her beliefs, that could be interesting but it also depends on how it comes off on the screen. She was naive/goofy in Prometheus but if they could write her better then maybe. I am not in favor of having it about a resurrected person though (AR *cough*)
About The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo and Noomi I have watched that movie, I like it.
You mention Daniels if it is alright to write some about that. I felt like she was a blank face, I did not get any idea of how she was as a person. As much as I disliked Shaw at least she had a personality, which is to say that I understood like “she is like this and that“ but as with Daniels I never understood how she was as a person. She (Daniels) could work if they get a writer worth a damn but the way that it has been until now if they continue that path then we will end up with another mediocre movie.
About David: I agree that he could be changed, right now he is just a mustache-twirling bad guy. I prefer how he was in Prometheus. Sure he could be written as a bad guy but he should also have some sympathetic traits. For a comparison I think that there were more to Hitler than just killing Jews. If you look at really terrible historical leaders a lot of them say that “I was fighting for the better good” no matter how horrible their deeds have been, the same could be done with David.
That part was stupid, it was almost like a parody. I understand that it was meant to show that David controlled it but never the less it was dumb and added more bad things to an already disappointing movie (giving David a bigger role, and so on). As far as showing that David made it sure but never the less it was disappointing no matter what the point of it was.
I am not very saddened by this, looking at how the Alien movies have been since AR until now. Now if I would have to choose between a new Alien movie if it would be like Covenant or to have no one I would rather choose no movie at all. Learn how to write characters and then make a movie but until then no thanks.
Those short movies that were released were better than Covenant to be honest.
While I agree that the Alien life cycle was inspired from the insect world, that wasp that lays its egg into the body of a living host, I still consider the idea of a egg laying queen was forced in by Cameron because he had his marvelous design of her "majesty".
So while in Alien the xenomorph hinted at the insect world, after Aliens there is no doubt it belongs to the insect world. A space termite that belongs rather to the MiB universe than to the Alien universe.
We lost that catatonic fear, that sheer terror of the xenomorph, whatever made it the perfect organism was lost in Aliens. You can send the marines straight in the middle of the hive and get away with a few casualties only. The entire hive of the xenomorphs is less dangerous than a group of primates from the Planet of the Apes.
The traditional xenomorph was not good enough to impress anybody, let's make a bigger one that can still fit inside an elevator, but still unable to kick Ripley's ass or at least drag her away into deep space.
As for Cameron's interpretation of how the eggs are made, I can never agree with it. If the Alien was a species in its own right, I prefer O'Bannon's story. For me the eggs are only to keep the facehuggers alive for an indefinite period of time, sort of incubators if you want, the ant looking queen is an unnecessary addition to the Alien world.
From what I can make of that schedule Disney have a very very forward and meticulously planned release schedule, with perhaps several of teams working on projects and assigned future projects. There are numerous 'untitled Disney live action' that you could assume are in various stages of early development, but are essentially Greenlit?
While the companies they have acquired like Fox, Marvel and Pixar do not as much of regimented system.
Could it be that although an 'untitled Fox Live Action' film (potentially an Alien title) is not listed, it could just be that such a project is in the works but not yet Greenlit, pending hype from Alien Day?
ninXeno426 Personally, I compartmentalize a bit. The Qudrilogy is canon to me regardless of "prequels". I have a "whatever" attitude toward P and AC. Decent movies on their own, but they seem to be getting bogged down too much with lofty and heavy handed ideas. Nothing tops the Quadrilogy for me.
My beef with David "creating" the xenomorph is not that it seemingly crushes the queen, but that it threw the logic of Prometheus as well as Alien out the door. And that's coming from someone who enjoys Covenant and Prometheus and arguably feels Covenant might be better than Prometheus. I recall Ridley confirming that the LV 426 derelict managed to escape LV 223, and the space jockey chest burster caused it's crash. Then there was all the evidence of a xenomorph outbreak on LV 223.... Covenant discarded all of this.
That being said, between egg morphing,A hive, and black goo,the xenomorph is extremely adaptable to it's environment.
Well, I suppose a fitting ending would be David leaving LV-223 in a juggernaut loaded with eggs (to wipe out mankind), gets infected (how does a synthetic get infected?) and ends up on LV-426 . . .
We can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which fills up first. I would like to see a new proper movie soon, but TBH, I am very impressed with what indies are releasing for the past few years with tight budgets and such.
Side notes: Thank you for the compliment on the topic banner Big Dave, I love fan made posters and that in particular is a favorite.
Iraptus I saw that in one of my many Alien Facebook groups lol,I saw Endgame and enjoyed it but Marvel will never come close to how much I love Alien.
Honestly the whole Disney buying Fox thing is just insane. I can't believe that people's excitement over the possibility of seeing Fantastic Four and X-Men allowed for them to completely ignore that Disney is a monopoly and a powerhouse. Who cares about Wolverine, I care about the fact that an enormous corporation just bought out almost all of another enormous corporation. On the other hand I wanted to point out that yes, Disney said that they would be making more Alien films, but they didn't say when. They could wait up to 20 years if they wanted before they start making more.
I agree, BigDave, that it would be acceptable that the Derelict and the eggs made it. A return to LV-426 would be nostalgic for fans. I can picture a spaceship settling down on the windswept surface of LV-426, a ramp is lowered and out come people in space suits, and an excavator . . .
It would be fitting also if Scott concludes his saga and ends up on LV-426 with the fateful cargo . . .
Cameron himself addressed many of these complaints back in 1986. Alien theory agrees that we can have both egg morphing and and hive.
I agree Scott perhaps should have been involved to some degree, but as far as sequels go Aliens was definitely the best approach at the time. Camerons intentions were not to make the same film or even take baby steps but instead a whole new beast.
A couple months ago I posted a forum regarding whether Alien Isolation would have made a good film or not. I ultimately felt no it wouldn't have been. I bring this up because many Alien fans do feel it is the sequel Alien deserved all along. The issue with Isolation is while the plot works fine for an interactive experience, it follows so many basic beats from Alien that it would have fallen flat on film. It had special order 939,a crew lands on LV 426,discovers the derelict and space jockey etc. In the wrong hands this could have been the sequel we got,a ho hum retread that offered nothing new. Worth noting Alien 3 is often criticized for doing nothing new by imitating Alien.
I won't jump the gun and assume Disney have zero plans of any new Alien film over the next 8 years... BUT this is rather disappointing news.
Thanks for the heads up though, I got it front paged.
BigDave Yeah we talked about that. I think you coined the series as "Building Better Worlds."
In a short range of time, the easiest thing to do is 'Alien awakening', directed and produced by Ridley Scott, but unfortunatly i think that Will not happen. Ridley Scott understood that and have moved on to 'raised by wolves' TV show. Ridley Scott salvaged the ideas that he could from alien awakening film, not infringing intellectual property rights. His legacy is unquestionable, regarding Alien saga.
The best thing to do is to start from the scratch.
I hope that, with 'raised by wolves', Ridley Scott can give us some sort of closure about the events of Prometheus and alien covenant, stablishing a parallelism between raised by wolves and the alien prequel universe.
Maybe they could do Alternative Universe Movies?
A Weyland TV show or Movie released in 2023 with the Prometheus TED Talk as the Prologue?
Then we Cut to.... 20 Years Later....
I think its a case of the Franchise maybe being on HOLD!
Alien Day 2019 was the Ideal Place to TEASE plans for the Franchise but we have had No Indication apart from a continuation with Novels, Comics and Games.
It will be interesting to see how much Championing for another ALIEN movie will be made by James Cameron and Sigourney Weaver, it appears Blomkamp has maybe accepted its Unlikely at the Moment.
Regarding any TV Project we had those Rumors, and Alien Day would have been a ideal Marketing/Teaser Day.. but Nothing..
Once Production is in Full Swing, or Finished for Ridley Scotts show Raised by Wolves, i think maybe we could get some Clarity from RS as far as IF he is or is NOT working on any Alien Project, be that NOW, near Future or in Years to come.
I think its Unlikely we would get a Alien Covenant 2 that would be similar to what ever plans they had in 2017, it would seem unlikely we get NO such Production any time soon (12-24 Months) and its a matter of Time as far as WHEN can they cast a Fassbender to play a 35 Year Old Male looking Android?
Maybe 2026 we will get a ALIENS 2 (aka Blomkamp Alien 5) but then they would have to have it set in the year 2226? Certainly if Production began in 2024-2025 then they would have to have it set 40 years after ALIENS?
Who knows what CGI would be like in 2024-2025 though!
I watched ALIENS Special Edition last night, and maybe i have been a bit Harsh on ALIENS, in light to how reaction by some Fans in regards to Prometheus had led to them giving us the Mess that Alien Covenant has left us with.
Aliens as a Movie is a Good Action movie, i agree with RS that the Movie and other Action ones released since had gave us Queens and Xenomorphs over and over and over (includes other Media Forms) and that some CHANGE was needed.
Regarding the ALIEN sequel, we have to remember at the Time that RS had loads of Commitments and FOX wanted a Sequel done, and we had the Process that lead to ALIENS and we have to remember at this point Ridley Scott never had much Control over the Franchise, it was the Property of FOX and Hill & Giler had much more say it what to do NEXT.
Regarding the Costumes... i feel Every Movie was flawed in this regard... Prometheus with Zombie Fifield or Not Great CGI Fifield... Alien Covenant Effects had flaws, lets not talk about Alien 3... and ALIEN in some shots the Costume was not so Convincing...
I think looking back INDEED it would have been likely had ALIEN 2 been made then it would likely had taken a much more different route than ALIENS.. Ridley Scott seemed to be wanting to give us a ALIEN World that would have had HR Giger Aesthetic (Aliens had this were Necessary) a RS continuation would have No-Doubt gone to explore WHERE those Eggs Came from, and likely uncovered the Space Jockey and his Role in all of this.
It maybe would have turned to more of the Unused ideas from Starbeast and gave us HR Giger Inspired Worlds and Technology, Architecture.
But what happened had happened... its the same as some ALIENS Fans were really Bugged (no pun intended) by what Alien 3 had done with Hicks and Newt... and indeed what happened would likely had NOT been what would have happened IF we had Cameron continue with his Sequel... but again there were reasons he could not WORK on the Project and ALIENS Fans have to just Accept what happened had happened. (also not forgetting Miss Weaver wanted Ripley killed off).
These things happen.... not EVERY Movie will please all the Fans... Changes Happen sometimes due to the Directors/Production not being available for when the Studio want another Movie, and sometimes Changes are Forced because of what the Studio (and Producers) want changed.
It is UNLIKELY that Alien Covenant was the Sequel to Prometheus that Ridley Scott had intended... Its likely if we get another Prequel Continuation it would NOT be quite the route Ridley Scott wanted either.
Everyone has the Right to like or dislike any movie, there are Fans who feel Ridley Scott had made a Hash of Things, and maybe would not object to a ALIEN reboot... some ALIEN Fans maybe would not object to a ALIENS reboot... and some Fans would want to Forget the Prequels even happened.
But we just have to accept them Warts and All.... going a Blomkamp THIS movie never happened route is NOT the way forwards..
Regarding the Egg Morph vs Queen they can Co-Exist in a number of ways that i will leave for another time.
In regards to the OT...
I watched ALIENS Last Night the Special Edition and i struggle to see the Rover do more than 40KPH, all shots of it appeared to be more like 20KPH and we cant work out HOW-LONG the Journey for the Jordons was... it appears to be NO-MORE than a Few Hours Each way!
But Bishop mentions the Reactor would deliver a Blast Radius of 30KM and be the Equivalent of a 40MT Blast.
Taking that into ACCOUNT if the Derelict was located 20KM Away from Hadleys Hope then it is possible it would not suffer any Major Damage. If this Distance was 40KM then i would say the Derelict would have a Good Chance the Cargo could be Salvageable.
The Derelict could have been Buried from debris and dust following the Shock-wave or the Blast could have triggered some Seismic/Volcanic Activity that could have buried the Derelict.
so Regardless of WHO Created the Xenomorph, the OT is about IF the Cargo could remain after the events of ALIENS (forgive me if this is not the OT point), and as far as that goes.... then i think YES its very plausible the Derelict could be SALVAGED.
I think if you look at it from a Certain Perspective then it would come across that David would want to just Eradicate Mankind and Create is Wolf with the Queen he has yet to Perfect.
IF we assume this to be the case then it would depend on HOW David would do this... The Advent Viral would have been a Complete Mistake by David... a Massive Error of Ways!
He would had been more ideal for him to return to LV-223 in the Covenant, then indeed Create some Xenomorphs/Eggs on the Covenant ship and SEND it to Origae-6 but the Problem is the Covenant could be Detected on its way to LV-223 and Intercepted maybe prior to Origae-6 (especially having sent the Advent Viral). He should have recorded that to be Transmitted weeks after the Covenant Departs LV-223 so that it sets up a Wild Goose Chase.
While he then leaves LV-223 with a Juggernaught and Bombards Earth..... the Problem with this would be that Mankind is NOT confined to Earth, and its if he can Bombard Earth with Black Goo and make a Hasty Escape, the Juggernaught appeared to lack any Weapons Systems as far as being able to Engage and Attack other Ships (but this could be Spoon Fed into a Plot).
I think we have to work out if David has a Priority to Create/Perfect his Xenomorph killing Machines, or if he wants Mankind Destroyed, as if he wants the Latter then the Black Goo would be the Quicker Way.
Ridley Scott indicated a different Path, before we eventually reach a Path that would maybe Directly take us to the Back Door of ALIEN... but at this Moment with a Sequel on HOLD.. then what ever idea Ridley Scott may have had could well be SHELVED!
Well, I suppose if David gets his queen, producing eggs in abundance wouldn’t be a problem. For every egg, a host is needed and there are 2000 sleeping colonists on USCSS Covenant so he could probably get an army of wolves even before they reach Origae-6. David says to Walter, about the colonists (and mankind), that “They don’t deserve to start again, and I’m not going to let them”.
So, why go to Origae-6 at all? It would be an interesting conclusion of the prequels if we came back to LV-223. Perhaps see what’s inside the other facilities? Some of the colonists might have survived and tries to escape somehow. The Deacon might be lurking somewhere and enter engineers and colonial marines . . .
Maybe we can get something else like more shorts. It would be better than nothing. Collectively, they were more enjoyable than Covenant IMO.
On the other hand, this gives another year for them to make a decent movie.
I love the damaged synthetic voice vocoder effect. So iconic

An interesting thing about Alone was the Xeno killing the synth at the end. Historically, synths were never targets of Xenos (except for Bishop). This short seemed to display a deeper intelligence from the Xeno- WY to the end- even synths are subject to the bigger agenda.
I am not trashing modern movies for this topic, but it seems like movies prior to or just in the infancy of CGI and sound design have a magic that cannot be easily re captured.
So good, dk. It makes me remember Organism game, played on a Commodore 64 computer.
Today, i feel nostalgic.
And the sounds of landing on LV-426?
Beautifully made.
The screams of the transmission distress are so disturbing...
This forum debated the topic to death a couple years ago. I believe the consensus was that egg morphing would work if a xeno was on its own and had no hive support. The hive idea would work too if there were enough victims to serve as hosts. The general masses didn't even know about egg morphing until post Aliens.
Alien deserved a proper sequel.
Giger should have been more involved
I regret Ridley Scott was not asked to make the sequel, the producers were seduced by Cameron's queen, which seemed prolific for the sequels, but which I find to be plain stupid. The xenomorph can be eusocial without an egg laying ant queen. I don't see evidence of intelligence for Cameron's aliens, just cheesy plot convenience to make the film build some pathetic climax until the reveal of the queen.
All the Aliens fans protest now if David created the xenomorph because it is no more alien, but they never admit that Aliens destroyed the potential it could have had.
Aliens is so poorly executed that if you play it at a lower speed you will see the cheap costumes of the "xenomorphs".
Regarding character development, it is no better than Prometheus, except Prometheus had a better android. Hudson, Hicks, Apone, Newt, what characters? Oh, I forgot Burke.
Face the reality people, Aliens is a Disney film. Maybe you were excited back then in the 80s because you were young and easily entertained but this film is frustratingly dumb plain.
Like ThoughtDreams nailed it: what you see is what you get. Nothing to talk about later, like the big hit The Predator.
"There would be no point in going to LV-223 or LV-426 since they are uninhabitable."
I think it all depends on WHAT is Davids Agenda.. we certainly on a Prequel Route would have to arrive at THOUSANDS of Eggs on LV-426 and at the Moment we know David has JUST the TWO small Face Hugger Embryos... can these lead to Thousands? On Planet 4 there are a number of Small Eggs, can these Grow? And in that Room where those Large Eggs are it appears there are 8-11 Remaining... again can these lead to Thousands?
So the Question is HOW do those Thousands of Eggs get Created..... Bare in Mind it cant be via Pure Coincidence that the Derelict is within the System or LV-223/426, so there must have been some Purpose for the Ship to either be heading to LV-223 or Leaving LV-223 that is connected to the Mass of Eggs... they are either being taken in Thousands to LV-223 for Study/Re-Engineering or that a Smaller Number had been taken to LV-223 for Re-Engineering and Mass Production.
Assuming the without David's Experiments on Planet 4 there would be NO Eggs on LV-426 route.
Regarding how long it took to get to Planet 4, on one hand the Engineers seem to be able to Travel to other Galaxies and so Earth to LV-223 should be just a SHORT Hop! but then on the other hand, we have to ask WHY they use Cryo-Sleep Pods.
I think One Element that is Overlooked is that The Covenant Arrives nearly 12 Months after Dr Shaw leaves her Warning about LV-223. We see at some point they leave LV-223 but then the Juggernaught is seen Floating Aimlessly in Space... it would see that David had done enough to allow the Ship to leave LV-223 but he was then using the Juggernaught as a Bargaining Chip for Dr Shaw to eventually Put him Back Together again.
The Crossing shows that Dr Shaw's Hair had been Growing for what would be about 9 Months. (6-11 Months usually for that Hair Growth). And David had said he had been on Planet 4 for about 10 years.
So i Assume that by the Time Dr Shaw was placed into Cryo-Sleep it would have been 4-16 weeks until the Juggernaught Arrived.... I certainly dont think it took a YEAR.... i think it could have taken Weeks, Certainly dont think it would take Months.
David had said he was NOT sure to Dr Shaw, because i feel is Agenda would have been to get put back together, then get Dr Shaw into Cryo-Sleep and then David is FREE to take as much time as he likes to Assess what he was to do next with NO-ONE being able to Stop Him.
We dont have any idea of the Distance of Planet 4, it is located in the Reticuli System as far as the Point in the Sky/Space but that is NO Guarantee that Planet 4 is located about 40LY from Earth.
It appears the Covenant had taken up to a Year to get to Planet 4 from Earth, and it would have taken the Nostromo 10 Months from LV-426 to Earth, so do we assume they are of similar Speeds due to Age? We cant be sure.
I know there was a Early Draft to Alien Covenant that was released where the Crossing was the Prologue but i have NOT read this and maybe i would have to try and locate it as maybe it can indicate some clues to the Distance of Planet 4, Origae-6 and Journey Times?
I would only assume the Juggernaught would have taken weeks 2-8 to Planet 4 but thats just a assumption, not based on much FACT, i know its unlikely it took more than 4 Months.
I would assume a Juggernaught would get from LV-223 to Earth Vastly more quicker than the Prometheus, Covenant and Nostromo... The Sulaco took 3 weeks.. and i would assume the Engineers Ships are Faster than W-Y Technology at that Time. And so with No Proof i would not be surprised if the Trip from LV-223 to Planet 4 took Days..... but again there is No Proof so thats Speculative by me.
Awesome Poster in OT by the Way ;)
I think ALIENS is a tricky one to look at, because it has so many Hard Core Fans, i think they seem to be more Passionate about that Movie and i think most ALIENS Fans dont dislike ALIEN but i think there are ALIENS Fans who seem to dislike the Sequels and Prequels to ALIEN/ALIENS.
I dont think ALIENS gets a lot of Critism, it gets some, but then i feel the Prequels seem to get more, Alien 3 and Alien R seem to get more. I would say in General ALIENS does-not get too much Flak!
The Movie effects people in different ways, and i think some of those who may pick some Bones with it, sometimes are against the QUEEN because it appeared Cameron Did-Not pay attention to the Source Material..... HOWEVER... we need to Bare in Mind that for the most part, the Majority of people who remember or saw ALIEN especially back then would NOT have been aware of the True Intended Xenomorph Life Cycle and so you had to ASK about WHERE those Eggs came from?
In the Majority of Biology EGGS are Laid, and so the Introduction of a Queen would kind of made Sense, despite the Source Material (O'Bannon) had the Egg Morph which was more ALIEN... Some Fans looked at Cameron's Aliens as BUGS! which to a degree it does come across similar, but i wont agree with how some say they are DUMB Bugs, because i see more Evidence in ALIENS for the Xenomorph having Intelligence and a Purpose... in ALIEN it was just a Stealthy Predator who relied on Instinct to Hunt and Kill its Victims.... The DC Cut with the Egg Morph showed a Purpose to the Organism however.
For me Personally.... when i first saw ALIENS it was a worthy Sequel to ALIEN it made sense and it was Action Packed, and in the 80's there was that Market for Action Movies. It was a bit Cheesy at times but this was the 80's and a lot of Movies were like this.
Looking back NOW, as i grew older and Mature, then Aliens did start to become just a Action Flick, a very Good one at that... I was disapointed with ALIEN 3 but as time goes on, that Movie Grew on me, while ALIENS just became a Action Packed Popcorn Flick set within the Universe but a VERY well executed one.
ALIENS is essentially similar to Starship Troopers... what makes it different is that it was better executed, and had a relatable better Character who was carried on from ALIEN in Ellen Ripley and so ALIEN Elevated ALIENS, because you had her Experience/Encounter from ALIEN and her concerns and warning to those who accompanied her to LV-426 that they are dealing with something very SERIOUS that they appeared to not take Seriously at all..... Until the $£%&% Hits the Fan!
What i mean by that is... IF say ALIEN was NEVER Made, and we had ALIENS with no knowledge/history of Ripleys Prior Plight against the Organism... and IF the Xenomorph was not that Iconic Design by HR Giger then what we could have got would have been NOT too Far from a Starship Troopers type Flick (my opinion)
We have to give Credit to ALIENS and its Queen and Action because this is what had accounted for the Franchise being as Marketable as it was... The Countless Merchandise, Comics, Games, Toys etc etc were all possible due to the more Action Packed ALIENS and the Queen.
Its hard to say IF the Franchise would have been as BIG had we NOT had ALIENS.... based on a single Movie then ALIEN would have been a Cult Hit but i would not think it would have Spawned as Much Merchandise/Marketing or Games, Comics and Toys etc..
So just ALIEN and i am not sure we would have had as Iconic Status.... a ALIEN sequel is something we cant really comment about, because WHO is to know if a Different (None Action, None Queen) Sequel would HAVE or HAD-NOT had the Impact that ALIENS had... we dont know.
What we do know is that ALIENS is the Movie that Most are Familiar with, that leaves the Bigger Impression on Most People (talking in General).
My Issues with ALIENS is not the Movie itself, its just that the Formula is repeated in all of the Media Forms that Followed, most Novels, Comics and Games appear to be in the MOLD of a ALIENS/ALIEN Resurrection... And so i would have liked to had seen something a BIT Different, which Prometheus appeared to have Attempted..
In a Ideal World.... it would have Been Great that we could have had Multiple Movies released where ONE follows the more Action Packed/Aliens Formula and another tried Something Different.
