LoneAlien: Romulus 2 NewsWill the sequel to Alien: Covenant ever be made?

@Thoughts_Dreams

I know, the lack of likeable, believable & engaging characters has been a major problem for both prequels. I realise most people would be against a Walter-David movie, I was actually half joking in my comment, but like it or not they were far more engrossing than any of the other characters! They need to make the human protagonists as engaging!

If they could accomplish that, plus add some angry Engineers, hell bent on retribution, I'd be happy!

@TD... However, my point was not that the characters were weak in P or AC, but that if you kill off someone who makes sense to keep developing, why should I care for extras? In the 20th century, 100s of millions died of war, famine or because of political reasons, so the "horrific" faith of 2000 anonymous "souls" means nothing.

I liked it.  The idea of an earthquake triggering the downfall in the movie was okay.  Everything up till that point was just fantastic.  Still, I enjoyed it.  It was done with very good quality too!  Great stuff!

Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Romulus 2 NewsWill the sequel to Alien: Covenant ever be made?

I do not want a sequel just for the sake of it. If there will be one they better have an interesting story and well done characters. A sequel just for having one is meaningless and nothing that automatically makes me interested. The way that Scott insists to make it more about David is nothing that I would like to watch because it is boring, Alien Covenant is an example. Maybe it is good that time ticks so it makes it less possible to make another one about his ideas which would mainly mean more robots, sigh. He can stick to directing other movies but if he tries to affect the story then he should stay away from the Alien Franchise.

“As such, it is unsurprising that there is an appetite for a sequel to last summers Alien: Covenant from some fans of the franchise and general audiences.” - original post

I would like to see numbers on that. I do not think that Alien Covenant helped a lot when it comes to the interest in finishing the prequels. On the contrary it could be that less people became interested in seeing the last part because AC was such a let-down. Some? OK but is that 20%, 50%?

“… there are a growing number of factors working against the possibility of Alien: Awakening ever being made.“ - original post

Well, making it about a crazy robot did not help a lot. I hope that many of the Alien fans show that they expect more than another movie about a crazy AI. Maybe we will never get another Alien or Alien 3 but at least they can try to not make it worse by having the story being about a mad robot.

Get one that has better ideas than to make it about David. If he insists to still make it about David then get another director, that is what I would like to happen at least.

I generally agree with Membrane on this one.

“… but the crap that was in 'Alien: Covenant' was just not for me.” - Membrane

I am not sure why but that got me laughing a lot. It is probably because it is being put in such a blunt way. Thanks!

“I'm okay if Alien:Covenant is the last movie.” - MonsterZero

To have it as the last one would be better than another about a robot with a God complex so I guess so. Too bad that it ended with a movie where a lot was boring. Yes there are parts of Alien Covenant that I like but it does not hold up as a whole. My reason for saying this is that I should probably be clear that I do not dislike everything about it but there are enough parts and ideas that I do not like for me to say that if we do not get a last prequel then I will not cry, let me put it that way.

No thanks to Scott’s vision if it is about David, they should throw that into the trash can. To me it seems healthy that many people are not interested in it and I hope that they will not follow that if it means more David. The issue of David aging as BD says might make it better if we wait because then we will hopefully have a movie that is less about him but of course people have different opinions about that. Sorry but if they will have another movie about him then they can forget my support. Nothing at all is better than one that is mostly boring so yes it would have been better if AC would never have been made.
I want another good alien movie, something that we have not had since Alien 3 so one way to make it better is to focus less on David. Another one about David/David as the main character is something that I will boycott but then to have him like Bishop in Alien 3 could be OK. This is not to have another one with 100 Xenos but to bring us better human characters and focus on their struggles because that is what made Alien 1-3 work.

“Indeed, it is very unsettling that thousands of faceless @$$-holes will experimented upon.” - ignorantGuy

LMAO! Ooh tragedy! ;)

Not only was AC in general a failure but now there is a risk that the next one will also be bad. Thanks Scott and Fox (obvious sarcasm). By way way IG you have a point that the characters in P and AC are not very good (with few exceptions) so to have it about David making something bad to characters that we do not know anything about unless some of them are well-written then it becomes about a robot again so I would not give a damn about that.

Lone: OK but what about the human characters? Sure they could do a spin-off featuring Walter and David but do not have it in the official Alien time line because it doesn’t work with a movie about them as we have seen. I am not interested in a movie about them at all which AC in a way was.

Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Covenant ForumThe final chapter will never be made?

“Too much David, no-worries, dial him back as a nefarious mastermind for the colonists on Origae-6 to overcome, but without him being centre stage; example Snoke. Still important, just less visible. They could make David a really enigmatic antagonist puppet-master.” Iraptus

I could accept that, it worked with Snoke in TLJ even though it was a disappointment except for Luke which they could have done better anyways. This would be a lot better than what we got in Alien Covenant.

I would not be against the idea that the Engineers would mass-produce Xeno eggs, at least it would give a sort of logical explanation of the egg chamber in Alien. Still an issue of scale is a problem: how does the cave fit in with the size of the ship? Not that this is the biggest problem in the franchise but anyways maybe it was before the prequels but anyways.

To me it depends, if they will get better human characters and less David then sure. If they will have as bad characters and more David or the same as in AC then forget it. One thing is sure and that is that they got to learn from the mistakes and the criticism of AC or else we will risk getting another one that is as bad or worse (worse is questionable though since it really was at the level of AR so chances are that it will be better). Honestly I have lost interest in David as a main character but keeping him in the background could work.

More Engineers would be interesting. I would like to know a bit about their society and so on. The Engineers are a lot more interesting than David which I am tired of anyways because of AC. Make him recreating the Xeno, they still have that possibility despite of what Scott says.

Two more movies from Scott? Bahaha! Good luck with that, I am not sure how many that are interested in one after Alien Covenant. My guess is that we will at the maximum get one more movie but we will see how it turns out.

“And so a Plot that would be like a MIX of Aliens and Alien 3” - BD

Hmm, if they get them right so sure why not? It should not be like a pure remake of them though, like copy some scenes from Aliens and A3, throw them in the blender and there it is because that is like trying to copy the past almost and that seldom works.

Actually it could be better with another director, then we might get someone that cares more about the humans than a crazy robot so that would be a welcome change for me. AI or Xeno, to me it should be about well written human character that get into fearful situations that they are not well prepared for. This is in a nutshell what the franchise is about to me. Once you get badly written human characters, that is when it does not work, no matter how good the environments there is, no matter how good the monsters look or if you have one million androids. I would point my middle finger at another movie focused on mad androids and wonder if they have ignored the complaints that it is more about crazy robots and bad human characters.

No I will not have David as the creator of the Xeno, that sucks balls and is one of the most dumb ideas that have been suggested recently. Do not make David the reason why the Derelict crashed that would not only make him responsible for the Xeno but also for the derelict and that would make me annoyed.

“The Engineers Return to Planet 4 and Discover the Destruction caused by David and will be off after him”

I like that, hopefully they will tear his head off and smash it into pieces.

I like it, it has a bit of that fear thing from Alien combined with some of the interesting things from Prometheus. This is in no way perfect but I found it more interesting than the David things in Alien Covenant, seriously. This is my post 1001 (I have been here for a long time it seems).

Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Romulus 2 NewsKatherine Waterston delivers worrying Alien Covenant sequel update!

BD

I hope that they will fix her if they do a sequel but she has got to have well-defined personality traits, that was one of the mistakes that they did with the character so you don’t have any idea what she is about, I didn’t at least. They have got to fix her in the next movie if there is one, doing a Shaw would maybe be seen as a failure as far as story telling is concerned, or? When I look at the prequels this far the biggest failure have been character writing. Killing her, wouldn’t that mean a boring repetition and a confirmation that the writers can not write characters? This is one way to look at it

David says a lot of things but to me he comes of as a megalomaniac he created his monster so I hope that the human swill survive and rise against him this involves eventually Daniels too. Hopefully this is how David will end because frankly I do not find him really interesting.

“Going the Route of Dr Shaw as in a Corpse would be a WASTE of Time and something we have seen already, WHAT we have NOT seen is the Horrific Time Dr Shaw had at the Moment Davids intentions turned to what ever he was doing with her.   So HERE lies part of the Potential.”

If you mean as a flashback of what he did to Shaw then I am not interested, time to move on.

“But we can see David has become a bit Vain, Egotistical like his FATHER and if he continues his Wicked/Cruel Personality then he maybe could ENJOY toying with Daniels... keeping her ALIVE but using her for hisAGENDA.”

Maybe that, I am still not interested in a movie about David though.

What if new characters discover that Daniels is missing and they send out a rescue team for her. This could have some interesting characters so they will have to fight David’s monsters to get to Daniels. This could have better characters plus it makes some use of Daniels who has got to be better written. I am not sure if this is possible if we look at how AC ended.

David building an army, I hope that he just recreates the monsters so he is not the original creator because that would suck. The colonists as far as new characters are concerned could be interesting as long as they are not blank faces with no personality like in AC. Aliens had a colony and got interesting characters so hopefully it will work here also. Get new writers as well, someone that knows how to make characters.

Living under the rules of David, that is like a benevolent dictator. "If you do as I say it will be fine but if you go against me all hell will break loose, something like that". That has never worked as far as I know so there is no reason why it would work here. Hopefully David will be killed early in this movie or eventually not be in it that much.

I still hope that the Xenos turn on David so he gets his well deserved thing.

"THUS... i feel their is Potential, if a Good Plot and Writing Staff work on the Story."

It could be, if they concentrate on making good human characters and make them more important than the androids. By the way as far as Blomkamp goes I am against everything that removes A3 from canon. By the way I am not interested in another alien movie about androids, AC removed that interest totally (about giving androids a bigger role).

“Luckily, she was found by a couple of Engineers and taken somewhere underground where a large majority of Engineers (men, women, children, elders etc) who managed to escape settled there. They also healed her wounds.“ - Dark Nebula

Hopefully not, that was one of the things that AC did right. I do not like this because the Engineers were mad at mankind and story-wise I think that it is more interesting if they are mad at all humans.

As far as some Engineers surviving David’s bombing that could be interesting. We will see if they will have some of that in the next movie if we will see one.

Yup I do not like the idea of the goo being able to bring back the dead to life. It was already confusing the way it was in AC. There has got to be something thought out about it so it does not become whatever that the user wants it to be because that would be a bad story writing.

Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Covenant ForumPlease, We need Alien: Awakening!

“Would you like to see Alien: Awakening?” - Chris C

It depends on, if we get well-made human characters, no fluting robots that talk about creation, and no story about a mad android then I am for it. On the other hand if they think that another Alien movie should be like Alien Covenant then forget it. To me AC is one of the worst alien movies this far but at least it is better than AVP and maybe AR too. No more movie about David at the expense of human characters.

David is not that interesting but they can make him better than he was in Alien Covenant. There he was just an evil robot like some sort of mad scientist that hated mankind for what reason exactly? The lack of well-made characters, and the focus at a mad android ruined it for me. Honestly the movie only got worse the more I thought about it. Of course I do not wish that would be the case but that is what happened.

Alien 3 is my favorite, 2 is OK, and 4 (AR) is where they really started to go downhill. Alien is a classic but I prefer Alien 3. AVP 1 and 2? LMAO! At least AVP is OK as entertainment even though it is not very smart, AVPR is an abomination but at least I gave it a chance. You can read my review of AVPR is you want to, I made a post about that.

What happened to the egg cargo and who the SJ is is interesting but there is a risk that they mess it up. They have not done very well with the prequels this far and yes I prefer Prometheus before AC. Hopefully they will not tell us the whole SJ thing so there is room for speculation, I would prefer it to be like that. Unfortunately the prequels have not been that good so no answer is better than a bad one.

By the way, I do not want Ridley’s vision if he wants it all to be centered around David.

“I think it would be GREAT to follow his Vision, and hope that he still has a BIG influence but i guess its a case of TIME will Tell...” - BD

I totally disagree because if they will do that I bet that we get another dumb robot movie. Let him handle the visuals but keep him far away from the story. He did enough damage with Alien Covenant which is one of the worst alien movies this far because it almost has no well-made character.

I would like for the Engineers to end David so we get rid of him. He could have a small role and I do not think that Fassbender is a bad actor it is just that we have seen a lot of him in prequel 1 and 2 and the second movie was all about him at the cost of everything else so I am tired of that. This could be a way to balance it and try to avoid making all movies about him, it is only fair. David was interesting in Prometheus but the way he was in Covenant made me not care about him that much even though he and Walter were sort of interesting in the differences between them. Eventually he could be more in the background in the next movie if there is one so there might be a way to fix that but another AC would be trash. No thanks to another David movie, seriously, F that sh--. Sorry about the swearing but Alien Covenant made me disappointed even though it has some interesting parts.

“It was never about pleasing everyone, but just as many to keep the things well above the floating line.” - IG

Yeah well not everyone will like the same thing but at least you do not need to make a movie that many think is a failure which puts the franchise in such a bad situation so we do not know if we will get another movie or not. They should at least have tried to put a minimum into getting a story right and characters that work but no they did not get that right so to run the same course that made AC fail would not be smart at all. If they will stick to the David thing then the next movie will probably sink, it would not surprise me at all. I do not want a movie like that

“.... and Alien Resurrection some were not pleased with the New Born.” - Big Dave

The new born was hardly the only problem with that movie. It seems by this comment that the only bad thing was this, but I understand what you mean. Yeah the Newborn does not look very good I agree and it is not that it is bad to try to make new monsters but the design looked like a walking piece of melted cheese (is it just me who thinks about that when I see it?). It is just that the comment seemed fun to me. No offense and by the way the main problem with AR is the same as with P and AC to me at least.

True or not, it seems interesting.

More about the Engineers could be interesting, more about WY could maybe work if we get some fleshed out things about them while remaining some mystery. Perhaps they can introduce some other life form like they did with the Engineers. I am no sure what that would be but it must be done well.

David as the SJ? LMAO! That would be lame

Hopefully we will get some more information from Fox or who ever is in charge of this. It seems more interesting than what Scott has in mind about the prequels. We’ll see I guess

“A big thanks to the Blomkamp's fans. “ - daliens

I would not blame them, I would blame Fox and Scott that made it about David. Had they not done AC then we would maybe not be in this situation. That was the big mistake that happened IMO. No more (mad) androids thank you very much (at least if they are like David but it could maybe work, look at the droids in Star Wars as an example but they should not be the main focus).

Where would we be able to see the series by the way?

Daliens: I think that it could work, it did in Prometheus but the lack of characters made it worse than it could have been. What I am saying is that it might not be impossible but the need to make better characters than we got in Prometheus.

Reading about what went on during the filming and things that you do not know unless you were there is really interesting. Alien Covenant should have had more of the Engineers IMO because it could have worked if they would have gotten it right. Who knows, maybe we as an audience would have cheered for the Engineers against David?

BigDave Agree the xeno could go to the back ground. Other facets are Engineers, WY Co and Androids pretty much. It would be great if someone funded a season to each topic and see what takes off, then maybe focusing on The One with elements of the other subjects. Financially it seems too be less of a risk than a full blown movie. So much could be explored and deeply developed in 6 45 minute episodes than one 100 minute movie and we wouldn't have to wait for years to see it.

What is the purpose for OUR proliferation? I don't think even humans can answer that question for ourselves. I guess David would say his purpose is "creation" but that's because he's imbued with the qualities of his creator. Created in the image of a creative creator. Maybe that actually is the case for humans.

I liked all of them. Hard to pick a favorite. If i had to rate 3, it would be this:

1. River Of Pain

2. The Rage War

3. Sea Of Sorrows

RoP would make a good thriller not only for the Xenos but also for the characters involved (scientists etc.)

TRW has the most visual potential. With its War Of The Worlds esque setting. Space battles, invaded colonies and so on.

SoS is a bit like "Aliens MK2". ;) So a movie would be something along those line.

PS.: I also liked Aliens: Bug Hunt. Lot of neat ideas in it. For example a little backstory for Hicks.

Reply
BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumTHEORY: How Shaw might be alive

There certainly was a lot of potential with discovering the Engineers.

You can understand the DILEMMA they Faced with any sequel to Prometheus.  Where the Key Things would have been the Engineers outlook regarding Mankind.

*Do those Engineers know about Mankind?

*If so do they know about the Plans to Eradicate us and did they agree with this course of Action.

*Why would they had wanted Mankind Destroyed, but then abandon any attempts to carry on and Finish the Job, this depends IF the Engineers on Planet 4 are aware of those reasons and what LV-223 had became and agreed with it.

*If they abandoned us, because the Mission to Eradicate us was too costly, so they decided to leave us to ROT and Destroy ourselves.  Then how would they FEEL once they find out we NOT only can Travel the Stars and Reach LV-223 but we can use their Technology and Find their Home-world.  If they saw us a a Threat.. NO soon as we turn up on Planet 4 you can be sure their Main Concern would be a Space Fairing Human Race.

So the only way David and Dr Shaw could survive a encounter would be IF these Engineers are Benevolent.  But where do you go ONCE David and Dr Shaw have had a good Chat with these beings, and if they are INTERESTED in us then you have to ask WHY they never returned prior to ALIENS and if they FEEL THREATENED again would they not want to Prevent us from Exploring the Galaxy.

So it was always difficult to cover how David and Dr Shaw interact with these beings, its a reason i abandoned my Prometheus 2/3.   As i tried to take on board Ridley Scotts comments... so when he said THEY would find these beings who are NOT Gods and FAR from Benevolent, that to me seemed to show that David and Dr Shaw attempts to meet them would be FOLLY but RS did say David was BRINGING HELL with him.

Which is why a Bombardment/Eradication of these beings was Inevitable.   Which meant less chance of any Interaction with them.

So Dark Nebula i think any idea about Dr Shaw managing to come across a few Surviving Engineers would have been interesting, and so there could have been potential for such a thing.

We see Fresh Engineer Bodies must have been used for some of his Experiments, and i dont by the David could Re-Animate them.

I just cant see those Dead Engineer Remains being able to be brought back to life so they are in Pristine Condition.  I also cant see how David could Over-Power Pristine Condition Engineers.

So i think its likely after the Outbreak some would have found SANCTUARY a place Protected from the Contamination, but like a Nuclear Fall Out, they would have to Remain In this Sanctuary for a while and as the BOMBARDMENT was a Surprise Attack the Places these Engineers were Held up in may have had Limited Food/Water Supply.

So they would have been Weak, and so easier Pickings for David, and if the Engineers are like Humanity, the Males may provide the Food and Water for the Woman and Children as Priority.

So it would have been interesting to see David Experimenting on Captured Female Engineers and Infants when Dr Shaw makes this Discover.... and a interesting thing would have been if Dr Shaw HELPED to Rescue/Set Free some of these Engineers.

THIS would have allowed for those Engineers to maybe see Dr Shaw as their Savior and so would treat her differently as if they OWED her their Lives.

Some interesting ideas/movies/shorts there.

I do think anything regarding the Xenomorph if covered too much has the potential to have the beast cooked....  I feel any TV Short or Mini-Series Movie (Like Stephen Kings IT) would have to concentrate on much more than the Xenomorphs.  It would have to maybe explore the Company Agenda/Conspiracy angle a bit more.

But there is a Market for Fans who would like to see a Star Ship Troopers Franchise approach... replace those Bugs with Xenomorphs (few different versions) and Aliens Colonial Marines and this Popcorn Shoot Em Up approach would make a number of people Happy.

I Moon Girl and BigDave I played Isolation on PS3 and had no technical issues- just clumsy playing since I suck- but I got through it on novice!

There is plenty of material to draw on from the game, but honestly, some just don't play games or can't navigate the controls.

Isolation is rich with possibilities. Creative Assembly did their research and provided a labor of love. With AAA game costs, it is hard to imagine another game at that level. I did not read ROP but it sounds like enough meat is there. I agree with Gavin that a streaming series would be ideal. Sit down movies take too long imo.

I still have Last of Us with the shrink wrap- I just don't have time yet to play it.

dk said, "A game could also isolate (rim-shot) non gamers who otherwise enjoy the franchise, so there would be that to consider.  Many will never know the greatness of Isolation."

I own the game, but I stopped after the first Xeno kill.  It wasn't scary.  It was more artistic.  I don't mind that, but it just wasn't what I was expecting.  Plus, I was all hyped up on "The Last of Us" game.  I LOVE THAT GAME!

Back to Isolation though... I have a question.

When you're trying to run from the Xeno in the beginning, does the elevator work sometimes and other times it doesn't.  I died like 6 times because the elevator would never open its doors, that is until the 7th time or so.  So, is the game setup to where a player could die because the elevator doesn't work.  This would develop a "fear of death" for a moment or too.  So the elevator eventually ends up saving you once it opens, but it just takes multiple tries (and multiple deaths) to get further in the story.

Did anyone else have this issue?

I'm refraining from doing that because your comments and anothers on this website, I might one day actually put the time in and play.  That's the thing with games.  They could go on for months if you don't have a lot of time.

Honestly, I hope the Alien franchise doesn't solely try and make from video games.  I really hope we get more movies.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumRUMOR: A Series Set In The ‘Alien’ Universe Being Considered?

Indeed a Hadleys Hope Outbreak done in the style of Alien Isolation Survivor Horror with a Good Cinematic Story could be another way to Answer some of the Untold Events of the Franchise.

Another Short on the Investigation of the Derelict post ALIEN is another one.. we had that Extra Mission 9 to Alien Isolation where a crew explore the Derelict was interesting but could have had a continuation...

so a Short TV Series/Movie based on the Aftermath of that Mission 9 Beacon for Alien Isolation would be interesting....

This would also be a ideal Plot to follow for that 40th Anniversary Competition.

EDIT:  i have only played the Game Once until the part when you have to hide from those Humans who try to track you down and Shoot You... I was too busy looking out the Window, and got snuck up on from behind and SHOT lol

I have only seen the Mission 9 via watching it on Youtube...

So i do wonder if this Mission 9 actually ties to the Alien Isolation Plot and the First Xenomorph Contamination on the Sevastopol  so as i have not completed the game... i think it maybe does and so maybe makes a Short based on what happened after the Face Hugger in Mission 9 Derelict Beacon a bit pointless? who knows?

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumTHEORY: How Shaw might be alive

Its a interesting theory...

There is a lot of Untold Events that transpired from the Moment of David and Dr Shaws Arrival to the point she was used for Experiments.

It is likely Dr Shaw was alive for some time,  its likely she was kept in a Web of Lies and Deceit by David, its likely she ONE day discovered what he had been up to and this would certainly have changed their Relationship.

It looked likely some Engineers Survived the Bombardment too.

Looking at Comments between Hallet and Hatton, they had pondered/teased that indeed David could have not to much Clone.. but to Re-animate Engineers....  Well these beings certainly become Totally Repaired, so they appeared as though they had not been in contact with the Pathogen.

Its all just theories and ideas they had, I am not a Fan of the idea the Black Goo can Resurrect the Dead to back to Life... but i guess if it can then this Substance was the SECRET that Weyland would have so LONGED for.

The Cloning Aspect is interesting though as far as what the Source i had was hinting, and some of the Concept Art by Khang Le did seem to match the stuff the Source had Explained.

Did David build all this from Scratch with Various Engineer Technology? Or had the Engineers had some Technology/Laboratory where they could Clone/Grow Embryos that David just Manipulated and Altered?

It does appear to be Dark Haired Females in these images, could David had used Dr Shaws Egg Cells and then Engineer Technology and Elements of the Black Goo to Create Dr Shaw Clones from her own Egg Cells?

Who knows.  Its interesting to consider.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumPlease, We need Alien: Awakening!

"It was never about pleasing everyone"

I never meant that comment aimed at any one in particular, just that with every Movie things Change that Displease Fans, it happened prior to the Prequels Too..

A number of ALIEN fans were never pleased with the Camerons Bug Hunt route with the Xenomorph and Queen.  Alien 3 displeased some for Killing Off Hicks, Newt and then Ripley.... and Alien Resurrection some were not pleased with the New Born.

And so there would always be some element of ANY route they take and changes they made that would not Sit-Well and please everyone. So its very HARD for them to try and Gauge what kind of Direction would please MOST.

Alien Covenant had a U-Turn of Sorts... but it also tried to please every kind of Fan by offering a little bit for everyone but Ultimately not doing enough to please everyone.

*The Slow Build up First Act:... trying to add a slow introduction to the Characters, before the $£^% hits the Fan .... just how ALIEN was but Sadly not executed as Good as ALIEN.

*A bit of Humans VS Xenomorph Action: that Prometheus had NONE...  Sadly the First Xenomorph and Neomorph Attacks did not quite add up to the confrontation and action that we had in Aliens, Alien Resurrection and to a degree Alien 3

*A bit of the Haunted Mansion: being stalked by a Lone Xenomorph on a Confined Space Ship, again this Scene was too short and lacked the build up that made the Xenomorph in Alien Scenes so Epic.

*Little Nods to the Engineers Culture:  But not enough and no reveal, it was reported that they had intended to HAVE less Engineer Connections and Scenes than we actually got... and so it was like lets put a bit about the Engineers in.. but Sadly not enough... and not as much as many Fans of Prometheus would have wanted.

*Show what happened to Dr Shaw: which was Vital to the Plot of Davids Creation, but bypassing the need for what the Relationship was like and what went Wrong... The Crossing was made to Provide a bit more Backbone to the Relationship but again NOT enough to please those who wanted to see more.

*More about the Main Character David:  more background about him and fleshing him out, as he was the Stand Out Character from the First Movie so they felt a Emphasis on him should be in place.. Sadly some of it was a bit too much and a bit flawed.

The Black Goo:  by showing us a bit more about this substance and the Mutations/Effects and Creations that can come from this.. included Davids Workshop... Sadly not much time spent on any of this in the Movie... only expanded on more in the ADVENT Viral.

Something Fresh:  The introduction of the Neomorph and its Life Cycle but again, it just never got enough Screen Time.

So it tried to give a little to the Alien/Alien 3 Fans, the Aliens Fans and Prometheus ones... while also giving us something FRESH  to try and please many.... but just not giving enough to please them.

Time Restraints were a Problem....  there was So much they tried to cover but with the Run-Time things had to be done in short supply, to do all of the above more Justice and Depth would have required a extra 45-60 Minutes.

THIS is a Problem they now face with any SEQUEL... its a case of what do they have to cover, what can they cover and what would need to be done to please the varied Fanbase..

Is there enough Run-Time in ONE movie to cover all this? without having to contribute just little time to each Element due to Time Restraints?   Or would spreading what needs to be done OVER TWO movies deliver enough in the First One to please Fans, and have them wait for the Final Chapter?

Its a Shame RS just could not have stuck to his Vision but the Production Company has to think about WHAT would Please Fans and Make Money.... and they FELT the Xenomorph and its Origins needed to be explored and re-introduced.  Which lead to the Plot Change to give us  a Direct Shoe-horned set of Prequels. Starting with Alien Covenant.

dkAlien: Covenant ForumRUMOR: A Series Set In The ‘Alien’ Universe Being Considered?

This could be explored in either a serial or a video game (Alien Isolation 2?) format, or if it was super-condensed into a two or three part mini-series, much like 1990's IT.

I think this would be the best way to go regardless of which facet is to be explored. However, a game format needs to be engaging and fun on top of a good story. A game could also isolate (rim-shot) non gamers who otherwise enjoy the franchise, so there would be that to consider. Many will never know the greatness of Isolation unless they watch a "let's play" on You Tube. A streaming miniseries sounds excellent.
