BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumShaw's Fate: Relation to Eggs.

Interesting theory... and we can be sure that David had incapacitated Dr Shaw and maybe kept her Alive for some time....  The Crest around her Head could have been a means to Incapacitate her, but also keep her alive....   The idea this was constructed from her Body Parts is interesting and certainly cant be ruled out.

We do see Smaller Eggs in Davids Workshop, it is likely if Dr Shaws Egg Cells produce those Eggs, David would want to extract them before they GROW too large....

So having the Womb/Chest Cavity with less Organs would make the Growing and Extracting Process more simple....

Looking at some of Davids Drawings.. which could just be what he had running through his AI Brain and not what he carried out...  We do have some showing Dr Shaw Pregnant and then some with her being infected with a Face Hugger... and so we cant rule out the Cavity being where David would Gestate and Remove Xenomorph Embryos from too.

So its quite ambiguous but this allows for plenty of discussion.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumWhere did the Alien Eggs come from?

We do see David has some Smaller Eggs, i can only assume once he has these Small Eggs he then plants them in the Egg Catacombs and they Grow.

I would assume David uses/mixes the Neomorph DNA with Various other Organisms both infected/not infected and Cross-Breeds/Mixes Various Traits until he obtains a Perfect DNA Strand and using the Black Goo he is able to Imprint this DNA into a Engineer Egg Cells but he was not pleased with the Outcome..

So he used Dr Shaw's Reproductive System to improve the Organism, and Once he had obtained a Satisfactory number of Xenomorph Eggs.. he must have then gone onto Infecting Engineers with them. And again he may have been displeased with the Results.

So I suspect as he does not Need Dr Shaw's Egg cells no longer, he decides to infect Dr Shaw with one of the Face Huggers and then he Extracted the Xenomorph or it Chest Busted.  Hence Dr Shaws open Chest Cavity.

@ali

I think the Chest Bursting Route would not be so Original... and it shows really the Wasted Potential with Dr Shaw...

You see if Daniels will be Davids Queen then how does this work?

1) Royal/Modified Face Hugger ==> Daniels ===> Xenomorph Queen?

2) Egg Morph Daniels ==> Royal Face Hugger ===> Host ==>Queen?

3) Same as above but Tennessee = Egg Morph  and Daniels = Host?

I think these three ideas would be a bit limited.... so we could have the route seen in AC.

4) Daniels Eggs are used to Produce Davids Cache of Xenomorphs Eggs?

Or as some of the Concepts for AC showed and Davids comments...

5) Evolve Daniels into something else that produces the Eggs?

OPTION 4-5 are more disturbing and i think Especially Option 5 would have fitted more if we actually had seen Dr Shaw in the Sequel to Prometheus.

David offering Dr Shaw a Gift, Evolving her so she is No-Longer Baron and Can-Now Create Life.... only its not Life as Dr Shaw would ever had imagined... a Perverse way for David to grant Dr Shaw a Gift of Creating Life.

Maybe something like this would be interesting to explore with Daniels?

@Ingeniero

Certainly, i think it would be a great idea to eventually lead us to something more ALIEN more Bio-Mechanical and HR Giger believed the Derelict was GROWN and his ideas also involve how the Egg Chamber had these Bio-Mechanical Devices that Produced the Eggs that looked like Pregnant Bellies.  His Mural which was to be placed above each Cache of Eggs and above these Pregnant Belly Type Devices, shows us a relation between Derelict and Xenomorph and hints the Derelict Produces the Eggs... and Bald Humanoids Sacrifice themselves for the Procreation.

I would love to go back to those kind of ideas, but apply the Creation/Gods Mythos to them.... and so WHILE our Xenomorph may be shown now to be a Creation by DAVID....  This still leaves it open to explore other More Ancient Organisms/Eggs that via the Black Goo became the Ancestors to the Xenomorphs.

@DK

We dont know what is OUT THERE... its a Big Mystery and i think RS with Prometheus was trying to show us that this is a Question we should not be trying to ask and find our Answers..  And i think as RS is merging the Creation Themes with the Space Jockey Race/Mystery then i think it would be interesting to Discover that the Higher we go up the Ladder of Creation the More Disturbing and Alien the Answers are and Revealing some Sinister Agenda...

A All Loving, All Powerful God who creates Mankind because he wishes to Create Perfection to Serve him, is a bit ONE-DIMENSIONAL especially if we are to have this concept within the Alien Universe and i would just LOVE to see what HR Giger would have SAID/DESIGNED if he was still alive and Ridley Scott asked him....

So now we have explored the Creation/Gods Angle with the Prequels, where Mr Giger would you take us as far as What/Who is GOD?

Note: The fact that the dissected egg in the lab is smaller means that David removes the egg before it is fully developed and when he puts them in the cave they continue to grow. (The preserved facehugger on the table must have come from a fully developed egg, but must have been non-evolved.)

EDIT: one time Ridley Scott said: "Shaw technically doesn't die" meaning he has the intention that Shaw is alive.

Something I forgot to add: the egg probably continues to grow after it's removed from Shaw, hence why it seems bigger than the crevice in Shaw's body.

On another topic someone pointed out that Shaw's body had been cut open: the front part of the rib-cage had been cut off and her lungs, heart, stomach, liver, etc had been removed.

I have noticed that the crest on Shaw's head could be made from her hip, rib, and arm or leg bones along with some of her organs like her heart, lung, etc.

I think David removed all of Shaw's bodily organs and a few bones to make room for an EGG to grow, because an egg would definitely fit in the empty crevice in her body.

Meaning Shaw grows an egg and David removes the egg and stores it in a cave for safe keeping. (Note: the crest on Shaw's head looks like it is supposed to keep Shaw alive.)

According to me,  the new storyline which began from Prometheus is awesome. I am starting thinking that they want to lock this trilogy as Prometheus is not so fantasy after all...

dkAlien: Covenant ForumMichael Fassbender used Hannibal Lecter as a reference for David.

ignorantGuy Hannibal spared Clarice and told her the world was a more interesting place with her in it while David killed Shaw to make his own world more interesting. Hannibal seems honorable compared to David. Hannibal basically killed those who deserved it while David seemed more about his own agenda. At any rate, it is interesting to compare/contrast these characters.

where is the BIG GUY?

That might be part of the point- the big guy is mortal in this case and for different reasons, humanity has convinced itself there is some kind of life after death. Basically as advanced as we think we are, there is a need to believe in a here after and we couldn't stand to imagine just blinking out. In this scenario, we created everything- the cyborgs, the deities and mapped out an after life. The brain and its ability to imagine can be a powerful thing...and savvy individuals have learned to capitalize on it and control/influence thoughts/actions.............next up is Tom with sports and weather!

The egg morph scene was excellent and added a whole other sinister "alien" dimension. After decades, it could be done in a slower more gruesome way too. Prometheus demonstrated that in its own way with Holloway's transformation.

As for the Xeno carapace, as cool as the original looks, the opaque version without seeing its eyes is very menacing.

About the sequel, well If we, the fan(boy)s won't complain that much, we would get what we want.

Originally Prometheus was supposed to be a direct prequel to Alien, with humans vs xenomorphs vs engineers, but the studio came in and wanted to dial away from alien and focus more on the engineers. Since then, the fan base was divided and each has its own expectations.

Prometheus 2 was supposed to focus more on engineers and Shaw and David's journey, but because of the mixed fan reaction of Prometheus, and a lot of people compared the film with Jon Spaiht's version of the script and said how much it would have been a better film if they went with that script. This I think (and that  Blomkamp's alien 5 hype) caused the studio and Ridley to realize people wanted an alien film with xenomorphs.

But fan (boy)s complaining has always been a problem for many studios. I can see the same thing now with star wars. George Lucas wanted to finish the vision he wanted since the first star wars film, but all the complaints and hate he has been getting from fans caused him to give up from his vision and sell star wars to Disney. When Disney acquired rights to star wars all I've been hearing is "Yipehh we are saved from evil George Lucas!!" But since the release of star wars the last Jedi all I keep hearing is "DISNEY/RYAN KILLED STAR WARS!!".

Great point regarding a queen born without drone protection ali81. I believe once the mutagen was introduced to the story that there is now more that one way to produce a queen (egg morphing, mutagen building).

To combat a queen, you'll need this below:

My results from the career placement test for the simulator Lawrence of Arabia are above.

I don't have an Alexa-enabled devise but I have to tell you, this is so much better than the promised film update from Ridley Scott in September 2017.

I much rather be a Captain on a simulator that I am unable to access than to hear, read, or see an update on an Alien: Covenant sequel from 20th Century Fox.

So far, I haven't been ripped off on Alien Day because I'm a Captain!

I'm all for the Egg Morphing scene, I think it complements the queen stage in a way. To start a hive you need minions. But also I believe the egg morphing ability is probably suppressed when a queen is nearby because like in bees and ants, if one of the workers starts reproducing on its own chances are they get killed by the hive.

I had assumed the same thing ali81 you did regarding Kane's helmet. There is a flash of mutagen that the face hugger produces when it deposits the egg. You will love it. My contribution to conventional daily tasks was disrupted for 1 and 1/2 days after I received the novel until I finished it.

"I don't consider those that care about the AI thing to be idiots I simply see that we have different interests about this franchise. To me that is just overkill so I will pass to read about that."

Thank you for clarifying that you don't think I'm an idiot Thoughts_Dreams because I like the AI aspects of the story. I totally support how Ridley Scott described the mechanics of space travel...hypersleep for humans while AI runs the ship.

Non-AI Interstellar Travel

Below is an example of how I imagine the Covenant ship command room would look without AI:

Without AI and the AI sensory extension of the synthetics, such as David and Walter, the first generations of colonists running the valves would die from arthritis because of the lack of computers running the functions for them during the trip.

You can certainly pass on reading my comment on a David connection above in Ridley Scott's tweets Thoughts_Dreams.

I have also wrote about the xenomorph from tooth to tail (hindquarters) should that be suitable for your non-flute interests offered by the franchise.

IngenieroAlien: Covenant ForumSeegson Corporation is a competitor of Weyland-Yutani Corporation in 2179.

That was my best way to describe the "black goo" substance ali81 that the scientists are trying to capture when the face hugger deposits the egg. I believe it is similar to what we saw with Fifield and Kane in regards to the mutagen dissolving the most difficult materials without pause.

It is unknown if Plagiarus praepotens is the mutagen seen in Alien: Covenant (and/or Prometheus) when David introduces himself to those on Planet 4 but the mutagen described in Alien: The Cold Forge has "locomotion" similar to what was seen in the attack.

BigDave, I highly recommend this novel. As far as the how the novels fit together, Alien: Covenant Origins certainly fits and tells us what the Company and competitors were doing before contact with the xenomorphs or Engineers. The Cold Forge describes a place where the Company is very early in their direct studies of the xenomorph and their biggest enemy is their own assumptions.

Yes, you must read it ASAP, IRaptus. The facility in Alien: The Cold Forge is a converted prison/bunker-type complex Weyland-Yutani Corporation bought on the cheap. And it sounds like Walter has been put out to pasture, below.

"you sound like one of those old poetry-quoting models. Like Walter or something."

"To answer the thread...

I would say we get to follow Ripley actually LIVING on Earth.  We can get some real great info on the conditions of Earth after the ORIGINS novel too."

Excellent I Moon Girl. I was going to bring up the same points you made regarding Sea of Sorrows. This novel was a great continuation from the Alien Resurrection film and could certainly tie together concepts seen in the films and what is read about in previous novels.

I highly recommend Alien: The Cold Forge. I might choose this novel, with Alien: Sea of Sorrows behind it, to be made into the next film if it were up to me. What I read, in my opinion, in The Cold Forge brought together the best we have seen in films with suspense, violence, exotic technology, treachery, and two parts that could be made into the best imagery seen yet in film. Think of the movie Sunshine combined with Ex Machina combined with the last 45 minutes of Aliens.

Yes, both involve a xenomorph(s) and both parts are without a synthetic. Cue up the smiles from the AI-angle haters here. And there are more examples of AI I Moon Girl in The Cold Forge than any other novel or film.

What I liked about the Sea of Sorrows novel was that Weyland-Yutani was resurrected after being broke up and the Company saved Earth by cleaning the atmosphere for a 2nd time with their processors.

This tied into the old Weyland Industries timeline, below.
