Great idea with amanda ripley! posted a fan movie trilogy idea relating to her taking place directly after isolation. first movie starts with the jettisoned pod from alien isolation that amanda blasts away about halfway through the game, being recovered by a giant weyland ship. it escapes onto there ship, kills a couple people before being captured by the company. all while the credits roll. from there amanda gets picked up by a tiny malitia group against weyalnd. amanda joins them. they pretty much try to raid ships for materials but then the get captured on the xenomorph ship, geneticly modified xenomorphs break free(the company has bean experimenting) and there is a three way war. company group of xenos and malitia.
Timmy the ultramorph I like the Quadrilogy. Interestingly, I could see Disney picking up after Resurrection when Ripley said "I don't know. I am a stranger here myself." That leaves the door wide open.
I read the first three or chapters and got busy with other things. I think it is pretty good and worth the time if you have it. I am not the bookworm I would like to be lol!
Not a bad idea. The biggest issue would be explaining the rogue egg. They can't go back to a place that got nuked. Landing elsewhere and picking an egg- a royal egg at that- would be a stretch. Other than that, I like your idea.
Ifthey bought it, they probably intend to use it in some way. I just hope that an alien 5 movie isn't made untill after awakening. also it absolutly cannot erase alien 3. i don't really care if alien ressurection goes but alien 3 has to stay.

I'm fine with it, I watch and Aliens movie to see some good horror/action with the Xenomorph species. I don't watch it to see an AI go crazy and end up ruining the entire mystery behind the Alien species.
I think RS was pressured to meet time limits for the theater release. This is another prime example/reason for making a full on Director's Cut for blue ray- but it will not happen.
Maybe "Extended Cut" is a more appropriate term.
It would literally take the movie from being a 6/10 to an 8/10 for me.
I like it, if they buy it, it means they are going to invest in it. when i see what they have accomplished with Star Wars and how bad AC was, think it cant get much worse.

I know, but I am so curious as to what RS (if Disney keeps him on), will come up with to explain their absence in the future films...
focus was solely on the beast and maybe no one could come up with anything meaningful and/ or cost effective. that's why Ridley returned, to answer this question yet I doubt wel get many answers now.
I don't see Disney really bothering with Alien and if they do there will probably be some big changes.
Disney has probably the most marketable movie franchises out right now, and with what they're getting from Fox will they really risk it on the Alien franchise which has been questionable at best? If they do there will probably be some big changes. Ridley having a huge amount of control is likely gone, Disney is known for what they did to the SW directors that they didn't completely agree with. Also the budget will likely drop, at least until the movies show they can make money for the company.
Honestly not expecting another Alien movie for a long time if Disney gets it unless there's some huge push for an A:C sequel.
They have done a wonderful job with Star Wars so I am optimistic because I feel we are likely to see more Alien movies with actual aliens as well with Disney than with Fox. However, I do think Ridley is screwed so I hope he at least gets to finish his prequel(s). Although, I would love some fresh blood directing these movies as long as they aren't fools like the directors of the predator movies which are truly cooked. Bigdave do you think the deal will happen before Ridley starts Awakening?
really depends on how long the eggs can remain dormant for. I know the egg and hugger have a symbiotic relationship so is there any canon details on how long the egg can sustain the hugger when there are no hosts around? alien suggested that with the right conditions such as the blue mist preserving the eggs they can last for thousands of years yet the route we seem to be going down is going to wreck all that. it all really depends again on where RS is going. its a very affective weapon but if the spores/ eggs can remain dormant indefinitely until disturbed, it really leaves the planet uninhabitable unless the engineers have something to reverse the damage
I don't know about that as it always was intended as part of the Alien Universe. I don't know what this alien franchise should be and I don't care as long as I like what I see. And by way, Covenant was the first Alien almost Giger-free.
red0guy I think someone said that Prometheus was a great movie unto itself but slapped a coat of Giger on it to fit in with the franchise basically.
Look, for me what started with Prometheus, should have never been a prequel or a reboot. I understand hints and subtle references in a show don't tell manner (not as blatant fan service), but tell something new already.
red0guy I think it is indeed a bad idea to write a series of prequels to join up with a 40 year old classic and changing the way we saw and interpreted the characters. Ash is more understandable but not Ripley. I haven't seen BR2049 so I cannot say.
Im not sure how I feel about this yet, too early to tell. Im more afraid we will an Avatar saga of the Alien Universe...
That being said, I thought Disney's Star Wars - Rogue One was hands down the best Stars Wars film made to date. Have at me!
Well it is an idea not any worse than Deckard and Rachel being replicants made to reproduce (idea in BR2049) or that the Xenomorph was created by a space nazi robot.
I have no skin in SW, but I heard that it was pretty good but some saw it it as a rehash. I liked the first AVP so I would not mind some of that vibe in there- substitute Engineers for the Predators?
If we judge by the MCU and Star Wars, it will be endless regurgitation, nothing new but hidden remakes. Truly great, truly great indeed.
I'm really worried they'll go the AVP route.
Sorry, members. I think Ripley should be left as a regular person- a victim of circumstance. Part of the draw was having a rag tag crew trying to survive and Ripley overcame the situation with smarts, will and some luck while overcoming fear and even looking out for a cat. Making her a replicant would cheapen the story imo and I could never watch Alien or its sequels in the same light again. Anything else would be trying to escape a corner that has been written into.
BigDave Agree. Alien fans are not a huge audience. To make more money, it will have to be made to appeal to the masses. I slagged the Disney deal for some time, but I will see what happens- it's not like we have any say anyway except for our wallets. After all, the SW fans don't seem too disappointed overall what Disney did with that series.
