However, Cain1977 makes a very valid point...I think what he missed is noone is saying that they want one, just that someone here suggests that having one would effect any film and it's rating.

...ok so rape is a very sensitive subject....but it's real and u read and hear about it all the time.....it won't be the first time it is shown in a movie....it can change the plot quite significantly...look at a movie like Monster for instance....without the brutal rape scene in the beginning...it would not have been the same movie....it almost gave the character a reason to go out and become a heartless serial killer....made it almost justifiable...almost! So what I am saying is...if it plays a detrimental part to the plot...then it should be included....but if it's purely their for shock value....then i don't think it's necessary.

I agree...Sometimes what we don't see affects us more...all we do is have to see a glimpse or hear it and that will let us know, something is going on...something bad...you do not need to show the scene to say that it happened...

However, if the scene ends like that of "Species" but she gives birth to a"Dude/aka Will Ferell" from SNL skit...I'll be strangely happy with it...

I fully get what you guys are saying. I do. Context is the key here. This guy however keeps putting up the same sort of crap, I am all for something if it furthers the story WITH CONTEXT as to why there would be such a scene, and if it furthers the plot then so be it. You didn't need to see Han Solo being tortured to know that whatever Vader was doing to him wasn't very nice, sure you see the start of the torture, but then it cuts to outside the room where Lando is waiting for Darth and can hear his friend being tortured. Lando didn't have to be in the room to know what was going on, but he had little choice in the matter. This is purely some twisted fuck getting off on a rape scene, without even knowing if there WILL be a rape scene, in fact I'd say is HOPING for it so he has something else to jack off over when the movie is finished.... Actually no, scratch that, this wanker will probably do it in the cinema and leave the dirty Coke softened napkins on the seat as he walks out. If he doesn't walk out of the movie as soon as his porn is done. I'm not any rape-loved freak, but... I will be glad if rape scene will be in it. Of course not spotless, it has to have strong plot argument behind it to be in movie, but... If good filmed rape scene (non pornographic, just some kind of brutal/violence without many details) is in Prometheus, it can be a (positive!) strong kick in the face, and build a very strong and stressed mood in whole movie. Really sorry for my english. ;_;

Lol, that just means Prometheus in June will be that good. Ridley is that confident it will be a hit that hes ready for round 2 to be started. and in my opinion, GOOD! the sooner part 2 gets started the better! I hate when movies are made and the sequal is years down the road. Sometimes u cant remember wat took place in the first movie. I like them within a year of each other atleast!

I don't mind the idea of a sequel, could be a dawn of a new sci-fi/horror franchise. . . Hopefully it won't get ruined by the movies being turned into simple minded action films i.e Aliens, Alien3 etc. Aliens was good, but lost touch of the originals mood and such!

They've always said they wanted to create a new series. There's a link to Alien, that is clear, but Lindelof has said on a few occasions this was always going to be a new [i]series[/i]. Ridley even asks him to get started on the sequel script at last years Comicon - he was soooo impressed. The fact they're even discussing this means Fox are also well impressed with what they have and see this as a long term project. Bodes well. I just want to leave the theatre spinning, feeling like I won't sleep for a couple of nights...no movie has made me feel like that since...ALien ;)

I looked at the above image in 1080P. It could be dirt and rubble, but it's hard to say. Not all the ampules have it on top which I would expect if it were a mechanism to open the container. There are a few things I find interesting about the ampule room. First is that there appears to be a few different sized urns. This leads me to believe that there is different "stuff" in the urns. The writing on the side of the urns is pretty cool as well. Thay have gone through a lot of trouble adding writing to various arches, walls, and objects in the movie. I wonder if they will be able to translate any of it in the show? I hope it's not there just for asthetics.

I'm just wondering if they're motion sensitive? IE: The tops only react as you get close to them (kinda' like the xeno eggs did). Notice the one's near him or in his path are "reacting(?)" and the one's farther away are flat topped?

Yes, I believe that each Ampule can be pre-programmed for different species generation. This must have something to do with that.

Sorry guys - some stream of consciousness here, but I always begin my speculations from the scenes in Alien. Something kills the SJ, and the ship crashes. Whatever comes out of the SJ, burns a hole in the floor, (burrows?) down, sculpts "a cave of some sort," and lines it with eggs. Kane's description always suggested pretty strongly to me that this was in fact a cave, BELOW ground level where the derelict landed, rather than a compartment within the ship itself. I've heard it said that we don't know if the egg chamber is inside the ship or not, but the scale appears a bit off as the interior dimensions of the cave appear to me to be more vast than than the exterior dimensions of the ship. We only get to see Kane investigate one small section of this chamber and it is the only section that has what he describes as "a layer of mist." Did Kane's presence activate the mist on the section he was lowered into or did he just happen across the only surviving section. When David pulls the translucent greeen thing out of the ampule in the trailer. The object he is pulling out appears to have four tapered lobes that seem to be holding onto his hand. Maybe the eggs discovered by Kane in Alien are what's left of the green ampule material after the ampule itself has decomposed (timed release like a capsule of medication we might ingest). Someone asked about docking. The Nostromo astronauts entered the derelict through one of three large round openings. We all know what they looked like, so I think it's (safe?) to imagine this ship docking with something that has three approprately shaped appendages? Final random thought. I can't wait to see the SJ chair rise out of the floor and (unfold?) as it appears to do in the trailer. I think the chair will grow in around the Jockey at some point. Also, Giger's painting of the SJ in the chair includes a transparent (glowing?) dome over the head of the SJ like a space helmet.

Yeah I think it's debris on top. The writing on the sides is what I find more intriguing...... Might say "DNA of Things We Made To Look Like Us," could also be "This Way Up" I need me a chart of those glyphs with English translation. Then I shall know WHICH WAY IS THE TOP OF THEM MWAHAHAHAHA!! I think the green thing in the ampule being handled by David in the trailer looks like a squishy version of an egg. There are four tapered lobes that appear to be holding onto his hand as he lifts it out. They remind me of the four flaps that peel back when the eggs open, the egg being an older, hardenned version of what appears here. Maybe the ampules break down over time and the contents adapt to their surroundings (vis-a-vis polarized silicon?) for protection untill hatching. There's also some internal structure to whatever he is lifting. There are opaque shadows inside that look almost like vertabrae.

Could the ampules be like capsules that release their contents after a delay, like a time-release pill or capsule?

Looks like the DVD cover of the first AvP. Which was crap. Not really looking forward to this. How does a 40 megaton blast with a radius of 30 kilometers not destroy EVERY BUILDING WITHIN ONE KILOMETER??? I don't care how they try to explain it. It's not possible. Science fiction or regular fiction, the laws of physics remain, and that colony would have been leveled. A blast like that would have left not much more than melted slag and dirty glass if there was sand. And would have irradiated the HELL out of the surroundings. So the Marines would be walking into a nice toasty bowl (I've heard they are trying to say that the majority of the blast went up into the sky because the reactor was below ground and gets funneled up.... Seriously... It wasn't THAT far underground.... Watch the movie guys, that's a big blast at the end) of irradiation and slow death. And there weren't any colonists left alive, because, ya know, BBQ'd thanks to said reactor going off and all the colonists, dead or alive, WERE ON TOP OF THE FREAKING THING WHEN IT WENT UP!!!...... so WHERE DO THE HOSTS FOR THESE NEW XENOS COME FROM?!?!?! 10 bucks says they'll have a group out on a mining expedition or some shit like that to explain where the new aliens came from. Or the team sent out to explore the Derelict after the Jordans find it. Or maybe both. Wouldn't surprise me in the least. Lazy. Fucking. Storytelling.
