shambsPrometheus ForumDavid: cyborg or android?! Jan 31, 2012
Perhaps it is originally an Android but thanks to the intervention of the technology of the Space Jockeys ends up becoming a replicant... to the Blade Runner... or as Pinocchio?
ReplyGigerFacePrometheus ForumDavid: cyborg or android?! Jan 31, 2012
I hadn't considered the replicant angle! That would be a great blending of Sir Ridley's two classic films! But is a replicant more advanced than Ash?! Replicants bled like people, but Ash had milk blood and it seems David is staring at something on his finger that resembles milk blood.
ReplyshardyPrometheus ForumDavid: cyborg or android?! Jan 31, 2012
the reason i suggested the Tyrell Corporation,
is that i feel that both ALIEN and Blade Runner lend themselves to one another
in a certain sense. perhaps it's due to the fact that they had the same film director
i could easily see these 2 worlds cohesively coexist with one another
the only catch being, Blade Runner's world was set in 2019,
while ALIEN's timeline is somewhere in the 2100's so there is a gap there
the Replicants in Blade Runner bled red blood,
while Ash the android bled that milky white substance
so perhaps Tyrell's android technology would have to evolve
in spite of that, i could see the Tyrell Corp. having their commerce loving hands
all over Weyland's cold and calculating dealings in regards to what they require
an android to do, whether it be benevolent, or malevolent
Replyalteredstate.Prometheus ForumDavid: cyborg or android?! Jan 31, 2012
more human than human is our motto its the other way around
and the androids in alien were always a bit twitchy or at least in the case of ash's model.
ReplyGigerFacePrometheus ForumDavid: cyborg or android?! Jan 31, 2012
@shardy, interesting theory and that would be sort of fun if Blade Runner and ALIEN were in the same universe. And that whole time period thing is exactly what has me wondering about the differences between Ash and David. Now if there is any truth to the rumors of a possible Pinocchio theme in Prometheus then David might be the one to watch. As this implies that David is an android seeking to be a real man. But something about the time period in which Prometheus takes places has me leaning towards David being more cyborg than full android. I guess we will see soon enough eh!
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumDavid: cyborg or android?! Jan 31, 2012
I think that the issue of the Replicants of Blade Runner is not very different from the Biomechanoids of Alien, and that both are a way of life different from the humans. I'm not saying that the rumors are true, what I am saying is that I do not think a great heresy that both universes are connected in some way, albeit only through winks and not in a way very explicit…
ReplyshardyPrometheus ForumDavid: cyborg or android?! Jan 31, 2012
i've read things here and there about "David's" possible machinations in regards
to his wanting to be human. it will definitely be interesting to see if his said designs
actually come to fruition in PROMETHEUS

i dont think is possible ..everything we have saw in the game was totally Aliens oriented ...and probably Prometheus will not care about any Alien sequel ( and will be tied only to some parts of alien ) so i dont see how that can be possibile ...
What ive saw in the gameplay was an average game ..i hope they will spend that time to improve it instead looking for some improbable ties with prometheus .
ehm sorry ...THREAD LOCKED !!

Is this leaked script still available somewhere?
ReplyflacnvinylPrometheus ForumSkeletal Monstrosities? Sounds like the leaked script that we all dismissed!Jan 31, 2012
Unfortunately that was not a leaked script but rather very fun, brilliantly-written fan fiction. The author is a cool dude and he posts on here occasionally. I don't remember his handle.

Is that the one where there was some kind of mutant orgy around the giant head? The whole ship was supposed to be some kind of intelligent organism or something. That was some pretty clever writing and didn't sound too unlikely. It seemed to fit in with everything else.

@flacnvinyl +1. The interview didn't really contain any direct quotes from Dickie, it also got the name of here character wrong. Sooooooooo, I think it is safe to say that an un(Prometheus)educated reporter put the article together with snippets poorly sourced information.
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumSkeletal Monstrosities? Sounds like the leaked script that we all dismissed!Jan 31, 2012
Many times I have to read negative reviews of the snobs who think that this is a shit just for the fact of being a script made by a fan. In my opinion the story is very fresh and ambitious at once, and fan who did this took into account the Necronomicon of Giger…
Best regards

That "leaked script" that we have all dismissed has been confirmed as fan fiction. Some IMDB user admitted to making it up. Robopot or something like that if I remember correctly.

i thought it was actually pretty good and i bet you any money, once we have seen the film, ewe will all agree that they should have used his script instead of the 'Of's.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumSkeletal Monstrosities? Sounds like the leaked script that we all dismissed!Jan 31, 2012
the script was made by a guy of IMDB's forums for his own pleasure ( that is confirmed and 100% sure ) . And btw call me snob but it suck .

"As you should now know, the Derelict, (or the soon to be derelict) stands vertical, it also spins, fast."
I had a feeling the first time I saw that in the trailer - the derelict standing forks-up - that this was going to turn out to be some kind of stargate/time travel device or something like that.
Man I cannot wait to see this film!

@Snorklebottom
I trawled other ALIEN forums around the Internet. There are hundreds....
These are collections of speculations, rumors, insider info etc
EDIT: Update, the source is collected from AVP GALAXY Forum. You can go through the hundreds of threads there. Again, this is strictly to provoke discussions. I don't mean to shatter anybody's dreams of what PROMETHEUS should be.

It does sound like the guy knew what he was talking about though. And judging from what we have seen & heard so far, this doesn't sound too fake or outlandish.
Anyway I don't care. I am a big fan of Ridley Scott, Alien series, LOST TV series (first 3 seasons), Twilight Zone, 2001, Big Summer Movie in IMAX/3D. I will be there on the first day when PROMETHEUS opens. I also love Ridley's brand of cinema even when the movies are a bit weak (KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, 1492, BODY OF LIES)
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumVery Interesting Rumors (HUGE SPOILERS!!!)Jan 31, 2012
Sounds interesting, but Alien, Blade Runner and Prometheus are part of the same universe?
Also sounds pretty good as of: "the gods/engineers/spacejokeys/humans?" "are huge and anamatronic"...
Very well, but for my Prometheus will continue to be a prequel of Alien independent that does not aparesca the classic xenomorph. Although there is the potential to be transformed in a spin-off or its own canon, but only will know the day of its release...
Best regards

I agree with Snorkelbottom. Rumors are rumors, just like opinions are just opinions. We won't really know what will happen until the film has been theatrically released. I don't know why people insist on spreading crudy rumors around?

a PG13 rating would suck majorly
Alien scared the **** out of people. It scared us with the cold loneliness of space. It scared us with its barrage of disturbing sexual imagery. It scared us with an almost invisible enemy that was not only hostile by nature, but that used humans in its reproductive cycle (oral rape no less) and displayed more than a little bit of sadism (even sexual sadism).
PG13 screams 'safe and unchallenging'
ReplyvisualizerPrometheus ForumVery Interesting Rumors (HUGE SPOILERS!!!)Jan 31, 2012
Why headline this post with the words "HUGE SPOILERS", if it´s only rumors from AVP-galaxy? I am sorry, but subjective speculations mixed with alleged insider info is not big news. Speculating has already been done to death in this forum.
ReplyStarbeastPrometheus ForumVery Interesting Rumors (HUGE SPOILERS!!!)Jan 31, 2012
Wow, can you believe we're only 7 years away from the time Bladerunner is set? ...But I digress.
"The universe of Prometheus and of the entire saga is of the same universe of that of Blade Runner."
For me, this kinda gives credence to the whole piece because IMO, Ridley has a all-encompassing world view for his science fiction - like a 'house style'. So we saw the rugged technology in both Bladerunner and Alien; he doesn't go for phasers, plasma rifles and all that jazz, instead it's good ol' fashioned weaponry to keep it believable - in fact, in the Prometheus trailer, we see regular gunfire.
My point is that I suspect Ridley would intend to keep his sci fi in the same universe so to speak. Sort of like Terry Pratchett and his Discworld, but this is Ridley Scott and his dystopic, dark future of humanity.
ReplyvisualizerPrometheus ForumVery Interesting Rumors (HUGE SPOILERS!!!)Jan 31, 2012
I would love to see a kind of "this is how I imagine the plot" section in this forum where members could post their plots. Would be cool to read how people imagine Prometheus - collectively. I know you could piece together plots from members by reading their scattered posts, but this would be easier.

"do androids dream of electric a l i e n s" ?
The reference to being set in the same universe as alien could just mean that he's tried to theme the tech that way a little (like occasional graphic in alien/bladerunner).. the diagonal slanty wheeled vehicles, I doubt it's going to be revealed that the synthetic crew member is a product of tyrell corporation :)
interesting speculation, time will tell
ReplyEGR101Prometheus ForumVery Interesting Rumors (HUGE SPOILERS!!!)Jan 31, 2012
UPDATE: Sorry guys, this is not a collection of speculations. This came from a single source, either from one of these scifi conventions (Comic Con?) or some Hollywood insider (pissed off their treatment didn't get approval from Fox?)
And as far as BLADE RUNNER reference is concerned, Damon Lindelof himself mentioned in his interview (Comic Con) that the movie will be " ALIEN/BLADE RUNNER mash-up.." His words.
ReplyRipley Clone 8Prometheus ForumVery Interesting Rumors (HUGE SPOILERS!!!)Jan 31, 2012
I see your point Starbeast. But for me I don't really understand why. Alien and Bladerunner are two different universes. Bladerunner was a universe that showed a future urban environment with different characters and a whole different set up. Alien is universe that talks about truckers in deep space. Earth would of been vastly different in Alien. Plus The Alien series is a different take on a totally different universe. Alien was so new in its concept of horror and it portrayed an environment that was so different than any other film up to that period in time. Putting both Alien and Bladerunner in the same universe is like putting Star Wars and Star Trek in the same universe. I just can't see it. Alien truly fulfilled a genre and thus put a cap on it.

The part I picked up on is. . . If this movie is PG13 (12a rating in the UK), I will not be happy and will take my time to see it. I am waiting to see a dark/epic and mysterious film about the origins of creation, not some damned movie that's been MADE to look all nice just to suit ratings people!
ReplyGehirnPrometheus ForumVery Interesting Rumors (HUGE SPOILERS!!!)Jan 31, 2012
This does tie in with Alien as it does with all of the "Alien" franchise, perhaps that is a better way to put it. However the single biggest tie to the original Alien is as has been stated its DNA and the "alleged" gods who had use of it.
This paragraph stinks. Sounds like it's trying to bend an official non-literal quote into something literal. I call BS though the rest is quite convincing.
