ancient astronaut theory is bullshit. When you read the books of Däniken and Sitchin you will see its just moneymaking. No ´proof´, just pure speculation.Sounds nice and interesting, especially for the SciFi crowd. Just one example, an archeologist did proof Sitchin completely wrong, scientifically: http://www.sitchiniswrong.com/
once again, just speculation and moneymaking. Däniken was in jail, and had the idea of making money with his books, because he was in debts.
AAT is made up for SciFi kids.

Lyle,
I agree with you on cuneiform, it was a stylus written language, But it actually went back 6,000years BC. Please see Dispilio Tablet It was carbon dated to 6K BC. I'm not taking away from the Sumerians they're curently the oldest known civilization that lived on earth, and alot of laws we currently have are derived from Sumerian Law.
If you look at a Sumerian Tablet you will find clear evidence that there are very close similarities with the writing on the head, the chair/map room and the tablet I linked.

Rick

Thanks Rick. Fascinating! Those ancient tablets you point to are indeed very similar to the symbols on the SJ pods and face. So glad you pointed that out. Awesome! This is just the right amount of complementing information (SJ pods + head symbols), that I would expect from a Ridley Scott movie dealing with 'ancient aliens'. God...Only 128 more days.... I'm going to burst...LOL...

What I'm curious about is does he exit from one of those pods?! And does the pod hold some sort of significance to preparing him for the chair?! I posted a topic about a Giger painting that I came across that might somehow be related to this scene possibly?! Here's the painting again...

GF,
They look like they could be cryotubes or just enlarged conduits when you look at the chair room pic.

ReplyGigerFacePrometheus ForumAny connection between symbols on head and SJ pods?Jan 31, 2012
@Rick, you might be right either way. I do find it interesting that the blue guy has lots of similarities to whatever the humanoid is in that old Giger painting! If that is so then I'm happy that Sir Ridley is making use of some of Giger's unused work done during the time of ALIEN. Prometheus could really end up being amazingly throw back awesome and refreshingly new at the same time!
ReplyStarbeastPrometheus Forum"There's a perfectly good explanation."Jan 31, 2012
Ripley was able to access the special instruction "for science officer eyes-only". So doesn't that mean Dallas also had the authority to access this message and see the instruction of "Bring Back Organism. Priority One. All other Priorities Rescinded. Crew expendable."
Does this mean Dallas was in cahoots with Ash about bringing the organism back? Perhaps this is why he was particularly insistant on skipping quarantine policies, and basically played fiddle to Ash's stick.
or perhaps collusion with Ash is giving Dallas too much credibility as an intellectual. Perhaps he really was out of his depth with the situation and just didn't think to intercept the message "for science office eyes-only".
Interesting to think about.
ReplyTec-BPrometheus ForumHonest OpinionJan 31, 2012
Alien- Awesome, the film that redefined scifi. Actually believable if that doesn't sound to odd.
Aliens-Also Awesome, personally i prefer Alien but Objectively, Aliens is in many way the equal to Alien.
Alien 3- The "directors cut" or unedited version as it should more actually be described takes this from a "B" class film to an "A" Class film.
Alien Resurrection- Just.. No.. "Can we shoehorn Ripley into yet another franchise film, even though we killed her in the last one? Why.. yes we can.."
Alien vs. Predator- The reason Ridley didn't do Prometheus 8 years ago. Garbage. If anyone wants know what i mean by the previous comment ask away. Also, this is what happens when you pay too much heed to fanboy demands. They would have been better off doing a closer adaptation of the comic.
Alien vs. Predator Requiem- er.. marginally better but again this is what happens when you listen to fans demands for a film too much instead of taking the good elements of an idea.
Predator- Love this film, not in the same league as alien or aliens but then again it didn't have a master director at the helm, Classic in the genre all the same. I always loved how it managed to convey the amorality of the predator. He's not a good guy or bad guy, he's a sportsman who actually has an alien form of respect for it's prey
Predator 2- loved it when i was 10, on later viewings it's a hastily cobbled together attempt to create and make money out of a franchise
Predators- Honestly I really enjoyed this, but objectively it didn't have the meat and substance of the original. Adrian Brody suprised me in his turn as an action hero. maybe a little bit too "Grizzled" though. A worthy sequel though
BTW hey guys, had disappeared just before christmas, was working from then up until well after new years, and i decided to abstain until the trailer had been officially released to. So it looks like we have a bona fide jocky ship now? :)

@Brego - Yeah I definitly think we'll see the originality of the Xenomorph creature! I can't wait! But seeing what the creature looks like before it's interaction with the human species would be interesting. . . Everyone read that "Pinocchio" thread, best theory around thus far!

@Frantz - Interesting idea there. . . I believe we'll see some kinda human/SJ type creature in this movie, that will tie in with the Derelict from Alien. Although the main thing in Prometheus I'm looking forward to is seeing a potential pre-Xenomorph creature! I think it could well be more terrifying!

ReplyBellaisanAlienPrometheus ForumNo Xenomorphs In PrometheusJan 31, 2012
Ridley has stated there will be a 'progenitor' to the xeno as we know it and we will 'recognise strands of alien DNA'. It might not be the xeno from the original and sequels, but it will be something that through either human or Engineer intervention becomes the xeno we know .............

To Jeffomorph ... Thanks for the information.
Even so, I'm reluctant to think that the movie simply based on a man hunt by a Xenomorph.
That would be a simple by the director, which promises great philosophic ideas in the movie.

ReplyBellaisanAlienPrometheus ForumA Pinocchio Plot?Jan 31, 2012
I can buy this, however, when Shaws dropping to her knees the old man is in the background??? So he either grew amazingly quickly or Holloway (or someone else) is the oldman. I personally think it will be quite inhuman whatever Shaw gives birth to.....
My theories keep changing with new information, but I'm thinking:
1. Holloway is directly infected by a 'progenitor' to the xeno with concentrated bioform liquid; starts to mutate quickly (defence mechanism for the Engineers). I'm guessing the white snake which the Engineers are changing their DNA just like they did on Earth, but this time due to human intervention massive mistakes occur.
2. 'Cocconed man' is infected by a small amount of 'Engineer tampered bioform' slowly transforming and becoming an Engineer. Perhaps this happened on Earth when he was a young boy; a relation (son, nephew) of Shaw and Holloway. He becomes like you say super smart and knows where the home planet of the Engineer's is.
3. Shaw gets grabbed by the Engineers and impregnated giving birth to an Engineer whom is less human and scurries off to do / plan nasty things.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumA Pinocchio Plot?Jan 31, 2012
The " Pinocchio " theory can be applied both to Shaw's baby ( if there is one ) and to David ... of course ther is someone bald who is always with the crew ( we see him on a weelchair and in the sequence of the shooting ) .
We dont know if hes the son of shaw or someone they found there or one of the crew mutated . Beware also to not exhange someone other speculations as "rumors"
i dont buy much the "rape" thing because i find it a bit out of place between halloway and Shaw (and there is absolutely no hint about that )
ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumA Pinocchio Plot?Jan 31, 2012
Brilliant theory there, definitly one of the best. Also like you said, it does fit in with the mythology of "Prometheus" aswell, and subsequently being punished for his actions. The punishment in this case being forced to carry a creature of pure terror and aggression. . .
ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumA Pinocchio Plot?Jan 31, 2012
Also could this "Pinocchio" being, be the one in the chair within the Derelict I presume??
ReplyThe High PriestPrometheus ForumA Pinocchio Plot?Jan 31, 2012
Yeah -regarding the point of the old man is there when Shaw collapses in the med lab - That's cool - Shaw gives birth - Accelerated growth over months turns son into old man. The scene where Shaw collapses can be months later, whilst Vickers and her "side" of the team conduct experiments on Shaw.
ReplyStarbeastPrometheus ForumA Pinocchio Plot?Jan 31, 2012
I'm in favour of the 'old guy' being holloway after being contaminated with that burning substance. I like the Pinocchio concept, but prefer it to be applied to David: artificial boy who turns into a real boy.
Thanks for generating this talking point.
ReplybigbirdjimmyPrometheus ForumA Pinocchio Plot?Jan 31, 2012
Wow. That is very deep. That is a great theory. That is quite possible.
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumA Pinocchio Plot?Jan 31, 2012
This very good... God bless the creativity of the fans...Although I agree a bit with what he says @ Starbeast, the metaphor of Pinocchio would fit much with david; He is a robot that for some reason wanted to feel the emotions and passions of the human being and here converge with a fan script where david becomes the recipe to generate life on Earth...
Best regards
ReplyGehirnPrometheus ForumA Pinocchio Plot?Jan 31, 2012
If I could help sell it to Frantz, the "urge" for Halloway to commit such an act might be explained better if he is considered the human version of a facehugger that never became an egg to start with.
He seems to be screaming at some point. Perhaps we saved him from a longer, more horrible process, but he came out slightly "pickled" regardless?
ReplyaintnozenoPrometheus ForumA Pinocchio Plot?Jan 31, 2012
I like this theory as well. Scott did say seemingly small and insignificant things would be HUGE later in the story, right?
Makes me wonder if that was more double talk than we originally thought...
ReplyshardyPrometheus ForumDavid: cyborg or android?! Jan 31, 2012
you bring up an interesting point in regards
to the timeline that PROMETHEUS takes place in,
and what "David's" possible motives could be in regards
to the bioformer / ampules that he seems to be investigating
at the same time, i'd say it's a safe bet,
that Ridley Scott himself has disregarded ANY and ALL references
in ALL of the films that followed his ALIEN universe and timelines
i figured that Ash was produced from the Tyrell Corporation more
then he would be from the what James Cameron tried to interject
not having seen "David" in his full glory yet,
for me i'd say that "David" is an android. much the way Ash was
time will tell.....
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumDavid: cyborg or android?! Jan 31, 2012
That is a good question, but there is a third option...
Is David a...
1. Android (Synthetic)
2. Cyborg (I'm guessing a la Robocop rather than a la Terminator)
3. Replicant
ReplyGame_Over_ManPrometheus ForumDavid: cyborg or android?! Jan 31, 2012
I think he's a replicant. If Ripley wanted to blow our minds - he could merge universes, they're so aesthetically and atmospherically similar. Perhaps the Tyrell Corp could've been bought out by Weyland following Tyrells death?
