I like all the synthetics, they each have their own personalities, so it's hard to choose lol Of course David is the best but I also like Bishop/Walter for being good guys. Ash was pretty sinister and Ian Holm did a great job at portraying that. Call is just adorable trying so hard lol

I would say its each to their own....

Alien Covenant has been a disappointment for a number of reasons but this does not prevent people from enjoying it.

Sadly for me i each viewing the movie kind of comes down a notch on how i score it, where as Prometheus i had a mixed view on but i grew to be more fond of it and my rating of it now is higher than when i first saw it.. i just cant say the same for Alien Covenant...  but thats not to say its a bad movie..  I prefer it much more than Alien Resurrection ;)

I always felt that David 1 was the Proto-type and maybe even some latter models are the same David with some adjustments, but then when any significant advancements were made to the Synthetics Mechanics etc

That the Memories and Experiences of previous David Proto-types are passed on to the first Proto-type of the newer advanced models.

This made sense as surely Weyland would want the very best Technological Synthetic as his own personnel David but he would also want the Personality of his constantly emotionally evolving David too, as this was the closest to a Son Weyland ever had.

But it could appear that FOX/RS are re-writing the Timeline and History/Lore on many aspects of the Franchise that leads up to Alien Covenant.

It will be interesting to see what Timeline of Events/History they stick to or evolve by the time we get the next movie... as it appears the Weyland-Yutani Site information may have to be redacted.

Very interesting and well written

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumMichael Fassbender seems to confirm in an interview that the kiss scene was a "joke"

I dont know what to make of this....

Surely it cant had just been a spur of the moment joke?

It appeared to me to be a Nod/Easter Egg to Blade Runner, and also it could be seen in a number of ways, in which to me it was kind of a Judas Kiss

I know some interpreted it as a Gay Kiss and David was thus a Bisexually confused Sex Crazed Robot... but i dont really buy into that.  Well maybe kind of lol

IngenieroAlien: Covenant ForumHow Extraordinary!

I felt like Alien: Covenant was written for me and I will eventually watch it more than Prometheus.

David was everything the humans could provide in a single, refined package born from decades of Weyland acquisitions. Black goo mutagen was described as the same thing for the Engineers with "Through the virus / Xenomorph as glorious synthesis and poetic culmination of the species."

So, David is the human's form of Engineer mutagen amassing every skill of a species into a synthesized product. Humanity (Weyland) had pulled together the best resources and attempted to reach beyond our circumstances with David. And the humans will pay for their overconfidence.

I tried hard with that above Thoughts_Dreams. Are you now going to buy Alien: Covenant?

I can enhance more screen shots to try and pump you up.

I agree dk. NECA sells beautifully detailed representations of characters suited for a mature highbrow audience. Certainly not "toys".

Totally bogus (online list of reviews).

I still feel like those telling me they didn't like Alien: Covenant are kidding. I see a gem competing with Prometheus.

I can tell you that there are very funny negative reviews on this forum.

red0guy wrote they wanted a NECA figure with a facehugger on Luke Scott...that is very funny. Very funny. The reviews on this site are legitimate because this group sifts through every detail, provides adequate analysis, and produces an opinion.

I believe you should all be thumbs up for Alien: Covenant!

If not, please feel free to detail the injury you sustained watching an Alien movie with a deep AI backstory.

Note: I also like the flute scene so have at it.

Alien 3

“Give us strength, O' Lord, to endure. We recognize that we are poor sinners in the hands of an angry God. Let the circle be unbroken until the day. Amen. What the f$%k is happening here? What the f$%k is this bullsh8t that's coming down? We got a murder. We got a rape. We got brothers in trouble. I DON'T WANT NO MORE BULLSH8T AROUND HERE!! NOW WE'VE GOT PROBLEMS!! WE STAND TOGETHER!!”

Dillon's sermon above is unconventional but he had been on an exoplanet prison for a while. The best lines (my opinion) in the franchise came from Dillon. I thought Alien 3 had the best cast we've seen so far with great dialogue.

I also love Dillon's line telling Ripley to leave after she was attacked by other inmates. He had to educate his brothers after they crossed the line.

I'll have to go with the USCM M41a Pulse Rifle.

The Modified Super 90 Shotgun in Prometheus didn't do much to Fifield and the Engineer (cool electric blue burst though). The flamethrower would be the most fun but I want to spray acid on the walls much further away from myself.

I didn't know harsh language could be so scary IRaptus. I love the second taunt threat above and didn't realize I could get so scared on my computer. I think it is the way he is holding his metal gloves on the stone. Terrifying.

For A3, One of the best ones that had a bit of dark humor was when Dillon told Ripley about being a rapist of women. She replied that "I must make you pretty nervous".

Aliens has the kind of one-liners like "sweet tits" or "sugar dick" from Covenant,  which I suspect were meant for the colonial marines' fans.

Yeah- A3 had some good ones but were pretty dark. I cannot recall a specific line from that film like I can Aliens or Alien though. Resurrection had some good ones too. I like A3 the older it gets, but there was little or no one liners like the others to my recollection.

For me, Resurrection had the most humorous one-liners

BUT

Aliens and Alien3 had tonnes of great one-liners too

Can you beat Dillons "take it on knees beggin' speech

or Hudson's iconic "Game over man" line

I have seen it go both ways. I might love a movie that gets panned or hate a critically acclaimed one. The numbers can have some value I suppose. It is a crap shoot imo.

When it comes to movies, I think Alien3 has the most interesting characters, followed by Covenant.

1 Dillon from A 3- Flawed man but tough and had integrity; demonstrated self sacrifice and died honorably.

2. Elgyn- AR- Up front and called a spade a spade. Loved a good time but was pretty frosty when looking out for his crew.

Hudson- Aliens- a tough Marine- cocky but could back it up when it counted. Was on it when things got bad and was tough. Master of the one liner.

ALIEN: MANTICORE 'Paradise'

***EXCERPT*****

The start of hostilities began with a single shot.
The unidentified and unidentifiable vessel lined itself up, Manticore’s sensors registered an electromagnetic surge as well as a peak-pulse of extremely high-level UV radiation, just as the diagnostics and combat systems registered a penetrating hit amidships.
Manticore shivered slightly from the laser strike and it’s Captain wasn’t caught napping.
“Helm, bring us arround. Tactical, staggered fire from all batteries.” He ordered, his voice tensed but not stressed as he worked at his own console, noting that the extremely powerful laser strike had not fully penetrated the armor below the shields.
Katherine followed the orders with a smirk of satisfaction as she triggered Manticore’s dorsal MAccelerator cannon batteries as the ship swung smartly to port, it’s nose dipping slightly to expose the enemy vessel to the greatest number of weapons possible. The staggered-firing of the MAccelerator cannons meant a continuous barrage that was intended to overwhelm the target’s point-defense systems and shields. Each of the turrets fired one after the other, each of the two cannons in each turret firing a sixteen-inch round with a multi-purpose warhead within.
Added to this were torpedos as soon as the forward tubes came to bear on the enemy vessel and Katherine heard the Captain’s order to fire them.
All six forward tubes spat death in the form of sleek, thick-bodied missile-type weapons meant for use against large and relatively slow-maneuvering targets. The tubes spat them them out using a cold-plasma pulse whereupon each torpedo’s powerful engine activated and they accelerated sharply away towards the enemy vessel like hounds after a hare.
The enemy vessel was managing to cope surprisingly well versus the onslaught dealt out by Manticore, it’s point-defense guns firing constantly, taking down incoming cannon rounds and torpedos quite ably. However, the sheer bulk of what was dealt out by Manticore’s cannons and torpedo tubes seriously taxed the smaller vessel’s defenses and some of the fire got through.
A cannon round slammed into the enemy vessel in it’s stern-third portside, sparking bright yellow-white followed near-instantaneously by a flash of bright blue-white against the eggshell-white hull as the enemy vessel’s shields activated against it, then again versus another cannon round’s impact amidships portside that destroyed a point-defense gun in an explosion of shrapnel and smoke.
The enemy vessel broke off, turning away and accelerating heavily, launching a burst-pack of countermeasures which began spewing flares and chaff as well as short-life/high-energy electronic noise generators which almost totally swamped out Manticore’s sensor arrays, making the exercise of any further shooting at the vessel a waste of ammunition.
Still, Sin was not one to let go that easily, and opened up on the swiftly retreating ship with the energy-based close-in-engagement weapons.
He knew the odds were solidly against landing any meaningful strikes, but also knew it would discourage the enemy vessel’s Captain and crew from engaging them again and considered sending the Wyvern drones after it, but decided to keep them up his sleeve for a possible later engagement.

LOL, also TY!!

I like the new avatar!

I have an Excerpt almost picked out, and yeah, it's R A W 1st draft, but should give folks some idea of where things are going regarding at least one of the many story elements...as well as my disapproval of Trope-style ship-vs-ship combat. ;)

Ash because he don't care what you think. He is superior and he knows it. His aloof attitude towards his fellow crewmates is exactly what you would expect of an AI posing as a Science Officer

It is between Bishop and Call for me. Call was good but could get too emotional at times. Still, she did the right thing. Bishop always kept a level head and made it known he was not keen on risking his life but acknowledged his role of serving humans in Aliens.

I don't think Walter got to show his true potential, but I would rank him with Bishop.

Ash and David were fascinating but sinister and untrustworthy.

Bishop is my final answer.

We do love Xenomorphs! It seems the trick is to keep them scary and mean without becoming caricatures of themselves. An odd comparison is Freddy Kruger. The first- 3rd Nightmare on Elm-street he was pretty scary but he became almost comical by the last movie.

I was tempted to just go entirely AI, but I wanted very much to follow up where ALIEN: MANTICORE left off, and then realized that such a large theatre as 'paradise' would be perfect for what I wanted to do. :)

The approach here is in-line with the Concept of the franchise's overall Name: 'ALIEN' in that this does go in a direction that is 'alien' to conventional Human thought, outlook and experience.

The new enemy, they are NOT someone you want to tangle with lightly, if at all, but they are also part of the overall AI investment of the story. ;)
Also, I would state that the Engineers will find them as frightening as we find the Engineers. :D

There's always a bigger, or meaner, fish...

From all the AI discussions here over the last year, it seems an entire book could be just about that. Doing an unexpected approach with it coupled with someone (not something) out there scarier and more mysterious than WY sounds like a possible clue.
