The problem is, going only by the movie, there was no evidence or suggestion of Shaw being cloned- at least from what I saw. I know there were drawings and such, but that doesn't seem to suggest she was cloned.
Jeri.theSOB You won't be alone to jump ship if that happens. Ridley Scott has just one more chance to get things right, but if he doesn't, the trilogy of prequels is going to be regarded in exactly the same light as the Star Wars prequels, but following the rule of diminishing returns. The audience outside the fanbase (together with a considerable percentage of it, maybe as much as 75%) will have ZERO interest in a movie like that. We will be just waiting for the return of the real Alien, done buy whoever understands what it takes to make an Alien movie.
A thought about Elizabeth Shaw's return in Covenant 2:
It would be interesting to see the result of a vote trying to find out how many members/readers would like to see Shaw's return in the Alien Covenant sequel.
drucea - 'They showed her dissected body laying out in his workshop.'
A clone? :)
'Other than the possibility of cloning, which didn't seem likely given the resources available to David'
We don't know much about the resources available to David. :)
He created eggs, some monsters, etc. The creation of those doesn't need resources? :)
I just wanted to say that they can bring back Elizabeth Shaw if they want. And this idea is based on Hatton's words.
dk - Yeah there's definitely a Space Invader. Next to that I'm going with an Aqua Teen Hunger Force Mooninite, possibly holding something that has smoke rising from the end of it lol.
I feel like Shaw is gone for good. They showed her dissected body laying out in his workshop. Other than the possibility of cloning, which didn't seem likely given the resources available to David on Planet 4, Shaw looked a bit too pulled apart to be put back together and be revived in any useful sense.
The black goo may have certain properties that can reanimate a fresh corpse or something that is still completely intact, but in the normal black goo fashion, whatever is reanimated should begin to mutate after the goo gets into the blood and DNA.
trokanmariel - Awesome! Perhaps Awakening referring to Shaw?
The return of Shaw could work, and not obstruct the philosophy of Alien Covenant. However, would the return obstruct the story of Awakening?
Lawrence of Arabia - Do you remember the time when we were talking about the possibility that the drawings by David show different Elizabeth clones?
cuponator3000 - 'It is also kind of funny that if the Engineers knew of how to bring back the dead (in any capacity), then Weyland going to find them JUST to be granted more life was actually a good idea! It was a fool's quest, but it was also, like, true.'
Brilliant point! You may hit the target. These are connected.
Thank you Ati for these confirmations, very insightful and is in line with what we saw in Prometheus/A:C!
It is also kind of funny that if the Engineers knew of how to bring back the dead (in any capacity), then Weyland going to find them JUST to be granted more life was actually a good idea! It was a fool's quest, but it was also, like, true.
David conquered death maybe? Or, he learned from what the Engineers had started in that manner possibly. Or both! It seems that David was able to do much more on Planet 4 than I initially thought. More than I thought possible, at least.
He is on more of a God level than I figured they would go. Weyland really created a monster!
Ingeniero - 'did confirm he is on a "secret project" though'
And after that he got the warning: Shut Up! :D
'Transmission from Meredith Vickers to private recipient via COMNET.'
To a private recipient!
This is awesome! A new secret!
I want to see Vicker's secret lover's revenge in the next movie. :)
He could be under contract to confirm absolutely nothing.

Dane Hallett did confirm he is on a "secret project" though in reference to the image above. The teeth and ribbing sure look familiar.
Ingeniero - Captain Janek Screams "Hands Up"
If I know correctly this scene is about Jesus.
Janek equals to the crucified Jesus, that's why the phrase 'hands up' is used. The two pilots are the two crucified thieves next to Jesus.

Thank you. I assumed Dr. Shaw transmitted the New Years Day message just before she left LV-223 Ati. I thought David 8 and Dr. Shaw would have left LV-223 in a hurry due to the Deacon.
Ingeniero - Great summary!
'To transmit her final message, Dr. Shaw would only have to talk into her helmet while on the surface of LV-223 within range of the Lifeboat'
Within range of the lifeboat...
So she went back, it is a fact now, however, we don't know how close she was...
Ingeniero - Thank you very much!
I've just found something more bizarre about Elizabeth, going to post it soon.
Cerulean Blue - 'then Daniels is probably going to get the same thing done to her?'
I don't know. We don't know who created the facehugger embryos seen in the last scenes of AC.
Lawrence of Arabia - Good points! Plus, we should remember the movie makers' approach regarding ambiguity...
I thought so Lawrence of Arabia. The Prometheus and Fiorina 161 sections are my favorite.
Saturnyne - 'It also still grew post mortem, she was still growing after death. How do we know she is not regenerating...'
Yes, something similar...
daliens - I've found something more bizarre, going to make a post about it.
This is one of your best topics Ati. I'm leaning toward Dr. Shaw being the female human in the notes. That is such a wonderful reference.
Yes, he could have lured more to Paradise but we know he had access to Dr. Shaw.
Here are some the notes regarding the Engineer youth.

Thank you Ati.
chli - I know what your opinion/wish/point of view is regarding the mystery 'Who created the Derelict eggs?'
I myself wouldn't like to state anything about this enigma. If David is the creator, that's OK for me, if the Engineers made the Derelict eggs, that will be OK for me as well. I just like sharing these different pieces of information which were made ambiguous intentionally by the makers of the movie.
I Moon Girl - BigDave is not wrong. Visit Matt Hatton's instagram page, look at his posts about the Engineers. David worked on Engineer children as well.
That is a tough one Cerulean Blue.
BigDave is correct in saying "Nope Nothing is Safe from them simply changing things as they go along...". So, it really is up in the air in regards to who the Space Jockey is and how long he's been on LV-426.
I believed that the LV-426 juggernaut was affected in the same event, or series of events, that killed most of the Engineers on LV-223 (below).

Now, I'm not too sure in how long the juggernaut on LV-426 has been there nor the origin of the eggs since that David 8 has been shown to create an ovomorph and its residing facehugger.

In addition to this, in Advent, David 8 tells of the Engineers setting aside the mutagen gifts to give room to timidity.
This opens up that the eggs on LV-426 could be very old and from the time before the Engineers had gone cosmopolitan like those seen on Paradise. It does appear that David 8 "rediscovered" something that had been buried and not used in the Engineer society on Paradise.
The LV-426 eggs could be a very old batch or a product of amazing story telling with David 8 creating them.
Chris - Thank you very much!
BigDave - 'Possible... I think its left a bit ambiguous...'
You mention the key phrase: ambiguity.
Nice breakdown Ingeniero. During the movie the characters didn't seem developed enough for their sacrifice to have the impact it deserved.
@Ati - If Shaw was facehugged & made the 'real' chestburster, then Daniels is probably going to get the same thing done to her? I am very interested in seeing what David does next!
@Ingeniero - I am beginning to think either the Space Jockey caused the outbreak on LV-223 as punishment to the Engineers & took the eggs, or the LV-223 Engineers found the Space Jockey & stole some eggs to experiment with on LV-223?
I think this next installment is going to really be a great one!
Great eye dk. I also see a baby neomorph.

I loved that part Lawrence of Arabia. Captain Janek was criticized for saving the suits at corporate.

Show Weyland-Yutani corporate a feed of what happened on Paradise and then ask if they want to update the report in relation to Captain Janek's job performance.
Thank you Lawrence of Arabia. I find something new every time I look back.
I'd like to know what "sentient life-form known as the Engineers" means.
Janek was a badass, couldn't care less what WY thinks ;)
Great analysis and sources :D
Scott had already stated David was the progenitor of the Xenomorph and the Foster Novel, while quite insightful and a great read, isn't canon as he uses early scripts and adds things he felt was necessary as proven by his previous novelizations and interviews. The proof that David has been using Engineers for his experiments are in his notes, he's used various specimens for his work such as infants and the like but that could all just be in his mind too. To think he destroyed every denizen on Planet 4 with the ampule drop is unlikely as some could've barricaded themselves in the Hall of Heads or their respective homes.
Just got the Weyland-Yutani Report and it's definitely worth it :D It explains so much.
